Bible Note: Good evening, Indiana Tim! I'll present an Arkansas rustic illustration. Please critique it for me. --- There is a big fountain in the center of a desert. Its "living water" is available to all who wish to partake of it -- whosoever will may come and drink. In fact, the keeper of the fountain says to everyone who passes by, "Come and drink freely, the water is a gift from me. Drink and live forever." Some do. But many don't. They give various reasons. They laugh in disbelief and pass it by. They say they are not thirsty right now, but perhaps later. They don't think there is such a thing as "living water." They think there's a catch to it, etc. Those who drink live; those who refuse die. But the water is offered as a free gift to all. -- Tim, how far am I off base? Does my crude little "parable" remotely reflect your and the Arminian view? --Hank |
