Bible Note: Scripture ... Num 22:22,32; 1Sa 29:4; 2Sa 19:22; 1Ki 5:4, 11:14,23,25; 1Ch 21:1; Job 1:6-2:7; Psa 38:20, 71:13, 109:4,6,20,29; Zec 3:1-2 ... Are you saying the angel was Satan? The word satan in the Hebrew doesn't always refer to a being like the one in Job. Satan is also translated adversary, which makes sense in Numbers 22. The angel of the Lord is not Satan, but an adversary ... and he told Balaam he was an adversary "because your way was contrary to me" (v 32). I cited all the OT passages on the Hebrew word "satan" ... which refer to the being and which do not ... one verse is both. |
