AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 6:10 So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers). |
Subject: Church requirements for helping others? |
Bible Note: Greetings Norrie - since we don't know all about your circumstances or your mil, it is difficult to offer any specific answers but the problems you mention are not confined to the church or its administration. The church is only as perfect as its people . . . It has been my experience within the church to see Pastors abuse the Word of God; they hold up a verse to justify their actions or decisions but their motives are self-centered. So, I have a tendency to suspect that this takes place elsewhere as well. Although I vehemently oppose legalism in the body, God has given us wonderful guidelines to follow for our good! IMO we must keep the letter of the law in balance with the spirit of the law. In determining a course of action we can ask: does it bring glory and honor to God? Certainly things that are unjust do not, but neither do unkind words that judge others. Be sure to have your mil seek Godly counsel as she departs from one body for another. As you have indicated, she is part of the problem - or if nothing else, her attitude is. We are to be charitable to everyone, in word and in deed, yet there are times when it is necessary to hold out on a hand out. May God give you great love and discernment as you face these difficult issues with your family! mommapbs |
