Subject: Church requirements for helping others? |
Bible Note: Thank you Searcher56 for your answer. When I read this question it bothered me. It seems very mean to be calling children fat and to say that they eat like hogs. We don't know there situation. A lot of poorer people are overweight because they don't have good nutrition and fill up on inexpensive things like potatoes and rice instead of eating healthfully. Or maybe they just recently have begun to have financial problems. I think the question could have been asked without that information. In 1 Timothy 5:3-16 Paul tells what the elders should do concerning widows. Right after that in verse 17 and 19 he says "the elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses." I have only been a Christian for a short while but, this seems to pertain to this situation. Please correct me if I am wrong but, I think that we shouldn't judge the elders(or the pastor) because we don't know the whole situation. Leonore |
