Subject: God grant repentance? |
Bible Note: Greetings! May I agree with one of your points and disagree with one of your points? :-) My disagreement is that one must be careful trying to read English definitions into Greek and Hebrew words. Using Webster to define 'repentance' for instance, could introduce thoughts and concepts that were not present in the word originally used. Rather than consulting Webster, I would advise a good Greek or Hebrew dictionary, like Vine and Ungers. These will give you good information on the original word. My agreement is that there is much misunderstanding concerning repentance. Repentance is something we are commanded to do in response to God's offer of salvation. Who can repent? Anyone can! God wants everyone to come to repentance (2 Pet. 3:9). He also draws all men to Himself (John 12:32). Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
