AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. |
Subject: why is baptism important |
Bible Note: Greetings Tim! You have previously posted, "Baptism alone does not save, neither does faith (Read James). And finally BAPTISM is NOT a work." However, I ask you to read Ephesians 2:8-9, which says absolutely nothing about baptism, but says a lot about salvation.. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." How do you explain the reasoning behind why Paul just "left out" water baptism when he wrote this verse? There are many other verses that explain and define salvation but fail to mention water baptism. If water baptism is so inexplicably intertwined and necessary for the salvation of a believer, as you hold, then would not we see water baptism mentioned more frequently in verses such as this that paint such a clearer picture? We must not build a theology on difficult passages, but interpret these difficult passages in light of the easy, clear verses. Blessings, Nolan |
