AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. |
Bible Question: is baptism important |
Bible Answer: It's funny you should ask this question because my pastor explain this very thing today. Baptism is important because it buries the "old things". "Passed away" means dead and your old life is dead when you confess Jesus as Savior and Lord. When something dies and you don't bury it, it will stink and continue to remind you of it and that will make it hard to leave your past and "become new" if you keep the "old, dead" stuff alive. So, Baptism washes away and buries the "dead" stuff of your past. |
