NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:1 Pursue [this] love [with eagerness, make it your goal], yet earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual gifts [to be used by believers for the benefit of the church], but especially that you may prophesy [to foretell the future, to speak a new message from God to the people]. |
Subject: Praying in tongues? |
Bible Note: Let me put it a little different. We are not talking about what He can do, but the quality with which He can do. 1 Corinthians 14:14 is the only one I am aware of speaking specifically of tongues, and that is because it is in the context of the subject and Paul states the seperation of praying in the Spirit and praying with the understanding whereas if we speak our language, we understand(brain engaged-hopefully) before we speak. You are looking for a scripture where the word pray and tongues is used in the same verse. I do not know of one. God bless |
