Subject: Praying in Tongues? |
Bible Note: Hi Searcher "Tongues is a known language to someone in the audience." I do not believe this is accurate because scripture says that to one is given the interpretation. As a language someone knows, they would be translating and would not need to be gifted to do so. On Pentecost the tongues that were spoken were understood by the various people, these were indeed translated. Each heard in His own language. It appears that tongues can be the 1.manifestation of gifting someone to speak a language they have not learned for someone who does understand the language as on Pentecost. Acts 2 2. the manifestation of gifting to speak a language not learned and not understood by anyone, thus needing someone with the gift of interpretation.1 Corinthians 12:10 3. Or the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in private prayer and worship whereas Paul said for him who prays in a unknown tongue to also pray for the interpretation. 1 Corinthians 14:24 As a lesser gift could not mean less in importance to the body, because evry part supplies an important part. But less in the ministry because prophecy is more prevalent to growth. 1 Corinthians 12:14-24 My thoughts God bless |
