Bible Note: Joe, "of turning off our brains," or of not having any to begin with? :-) I like the line of C.S.Lewis in which he speaks of his pre-conversion assessment of Christians; to wit, that he supposed it was a requirement that Christians, upon entry into a house of worship, were to leave their brains along with their hats on the rack provided...... Some years ago Albert Schweitzer was being interviewed in London. He was asked, "What's wrong with men today?" The good doctor reflected for a moment and replied, "Men simply don't think." It is enough that all too many Christians in our time continue to check their brains in at the door of the church and simply don't think. It is more than enough that these same Christians presume to teach others the art of non-thinking. --Hank |
