Bible Question: If a person does not speak in tongues does it mean they don't have the Holy Spirit in them? I know that speaking in tongues is a gift but is there another view? |
Bible Answer: Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Here you see they were filled with the Holy Spirit, then they began to speak with other tongues. The Holy Spirit, as I have experienced, gives you power to do the things our flesh doesn't want to do. Example; loving your enemy, drinking ,smoking, speaking in tongues. 1Cor 12:10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another, various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. Speaking in tongues is a gift, but there are other kinds of gifts as well. I believe that everyone has the ability to do any of these gifts but God decides which gift will be the one that stands out more in our lives. |
