Subject: No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? |
Bible Note: Steve as a side bar to this. I have been in Pentecost for a long time and I believe I have witnessed only a hand full of authentic moves of the Spirit. I have seen many demonstrations of the flesh. Once a friend of mind was preaching a service and at the close gave an altar call. A sweet woman came forward and gave her heart to the Lord. My friend prayed with her and then closed the service. He went back to her and started to talk and she drew back in bewilderment. He keep asking what was wrong. The women started to cry finally another women came up and explained, this woman only spoke Spanish. Through the interpreter we learned that she thought my friend spoke Spanish also since that is what she heard him preach and pray in. Another case Jack Hayford tells in one of his books about how he was on a plane and the Holy spirit told him to speak to the man next to him in tongues. Jack kind of argued with the Holy Spirit making the point that this wasn’t the time nor the place. Nonetheless the Holy Spirit insisted. Jack turned to the fellow passenger and said the Holy Spirit has instructed me to speak to you in tongues, then he preceded to give the message. The man listened and when Jack was finished he asked if the man understood. The man told him he had spoken to him in a Cherokee dialect and that he was taught this by his grandmother. He told Jack that he had talked about the Son. This gave Jack a chance to witness to this man which he did for the rest of the flight. |
