Bible Question: i met a lady who said that the sabbath is on a saturday and that the catholic church had changed the law so tell is this if not could you give me some verse yo back it up |
Bible Answer: Greetings! "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. Ex 20:11 Yes, the Sabbath Day in Scripture is what we call Saturday. Jesus fulfilled the Law for us. He is the fulfillment of God's promise to man (and to Israel!) When Jesus stood before His disciples on "the evening of the first day of the week," I believe He was affirming our assembly as well as the Sabbath. The evening of the first day of the week would be sundown of the Sabbath Day. This would be a time of celebration. And isn't it appropriate that The reason to celebrate, appeared before them at this time! This is why I believe that we observe Sunday as a day of corporate worship. I do not have any information about any church declaring one day or another as THE appropriate day - we should worship EVERY DAY. But since Jesus appeared to them as a group on this day, I believe that we should consider Sunday as our day of gathering together to worship Him. These are just my thoughts. mommapbs |
