Subject: Is THE SABBATH ON A SATURDAY |
Bible Note: to whom it may concern: Genesis 2:3-"Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made". If you closely examine the text you see that God blessed the seventh day. God did not bless the fourteenth day or the 21st for that matter. He blessed the 7th day because he rested from all His work. The bible is silent about Sabbath observance before Moses gave the 10 Commandements to the Israelites. When God rested on the 7th day this was a foreshadow of the Sabbath that He later gave to His people Israel. He did not give the Sabbath to Adam, Abraham, Job, Noah, or Joseph. God only gave the Sabbath to the Jews whom he brought out of Egypt(Exodus 20:2). Jesus never taught His church(Matthew 16:18;Romans 16:16) to observe the Sabbath. Jesus rose on the first day(Matthew 28:1; mark 16:2; Luke 24:1; John 20:1). Pentecost was on the first day of the week(Leviticus 23:16; Acts 2:1). The church assembled together on the first day of the week(Acts 20:7; 1st Corinthians 16:2;). The first day of the week is Sunday. |
