Bible Note: Dear Tim, The problem is not with someone using "the wrong words." :-) He he! :-) The problem is giving anyone the idea that speaking the words -- or saying a prayer, or walking down an aisle, or joining a church, or making a decision, etc. etc. -- actually accomplishes anything in regard to the eternal destiny of their soul (like the Pharisee in Luke 18:11-12). Our only hope is in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. (For our justification is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in the Scriptures alone, to the glory of God alone.) Our inability is met by God's divine provision. "God be merciful, on me a sinner!" So simply put, but entailing a wonderful special revelation. Of course, I know I'm "preaching to the choir" here. :-) In Him, Doc |
