Bible Note: Dear AO, Let me see if I understand your doctrine: 1. Regeneration is matter of exercising the will. In other words, it is initiated by a man making a decision. 2. The will cannot be exercised without a sufficent level of understanding. Consequently, men must have a sufficient level of understanding (knowledge) in order to be afforded the opportunity to exercise their will. 3. Without this level of understanding, men will not choose to become saved. 4. With this level of understanding, some men will still refuse to become saved. You pray that God will grant this level of understanding to certain men who are lost. You do not pray that they will be saved, since this would abrogate their free will, but rather that they be afforded the opportunity to choose. Therefore, I must ask: Q1. If God fails to grant this understanding, is He not also preventing them from exercising their will? Q2. If God does not grant some men this understanding, is this not equivalent to rejecting them?
