Bible Question:
Sonlit, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Help me out with something,I've never read that God created us for hell. Where God says in Genisis let Us make man in Our image. I've always had the the impression that Gods desire was to have a relationship with us. Now I'm sure that I'm missing something here there must be. Could you please explain? In Christ, lionheart |
Bible Answer: Well, lionheart, I am still grappling with this same teaching. I was to teach a lesson to children on the sovereignty of God and the curriculum was John Piper's, Desiring God. I believe Ephesians 1:11 "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will", was one of the verses that they used to explain to the children that God's plan was that there were some created for hell "being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will" or some for heaven. I was to used the example that if I wanted to paint the barn in my picture red, I could; or if I wanted to paint it blue, I could. Or, I was to call one child up and give him a wrapped present. I had the right to choose which child I wanted to give it to, and which child I didn't. God in his sovereignty also has this right...to choose some for heaven and some for hell. Needless to say, this teaching has driven me to the scripture because it is my only desire to know GOD'S truth, and not man's. In the meantime, It has caused me to view my heavenly father differently as I begin the task of finding answers. This doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, but I must say, my soul has been hurting. |
