Bible Question:
Sonlit, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Help me out with something,I've never read that God created us for hell. Where God says in Genisis let Us make man in Our image. I've always had the the impression that Gods desire was to have a relationship with us. Now I'm sure that I'm missing something here there must be. Could you please explain? In Christ, lionheart |
Bible Answer: Hi, Brother Lionheart... Just as a point of interest, in the Baptist tradition we state it a bit differently. "By the decree of God, for the manifestation of His glory, some men and angels are predestinated, or foreordained to eternal life through Jesus Christ, to the praise of His glorious grace; others being left to act in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of His glorious justice. (1 Timothy 5:21; Matthew 25:34; Ephesians 1:5, 6; Romans 9:22, 23; Jude 4)" --1689 LBCF (chapter 3, paragraph 3) (See the entire chapter for a more complete explanation.) All men rightly and truly deserve destruction. In an incredibly gracious and glorious act of mercy, God Has singled out some to be saved through His work of redemption. This is a purposeful action of divine providence. Those that enter into judgment are simply allowed to follow the course merited by their sin. The distinction is a matter of commission and omission. In both cases the "purpose" -- if we can use that kind of language here -- is to bring the greatest glory to God. In Him, Doc |
