NASB | Exodus 21:6 then his master shall bring him to God, then he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 21:6 then his master shall bring him to God [that is, to the judges who act in God's name], then he shall bring him to the door or doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl (strong needle); and he shall serve him for life. |
Subject: Is this a sin to do |
Bible Note: Sang_Phleg You right the piercing itself doesn't enslave us. It is the attitude and thought behind it. For someone to do this to them self says their heart is on the things of the world not on Christ. Just as the pierce ear of the slave didn't enslave him, his decision to have his ear pierce signified to the world he desired to be enslaved. EdB |
