AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 21:6 then his master shall bring him to God [that is, to the judges who act in God's name], then he shall bring him to the door or doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl (strong needle); and he shall serve him for life. |
Subject: Is this a sin to do |
Bible Note: Sang_Phleg: I tend to see the body piercing fad in much the same way as EdB does. And let me ask you please, to whom does the body belong, and how does the deliberate act of having various body parts riddled with holes glorify Him whose master hand "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Ps. 139:14) the human body? The human body is not to be dishonored (Lev. 19:28; 21:5; Deut. 14:1); for the Christian, it is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19; 2 Cor. 6:16. So show me how gouging holes in the human body in order to insert showy baubles and garish trinkets honors the body or Him who gave it life. It takes some far-fetched rationalization to justify the practice, it seems to me. --Hank |
