Bible Note: Dear Brother Mark, Not sure who postulated that... There's lots of problems with it, though. If I'm not mistaken, it is an example of the post hoc logical fallacy. Causality cannot be reversed. The major term of the syllogism is stated, but the middle term, is tacit (i.e., "right outcomes are rewards"), which is uncertain. There's a big problem in the major term "certain sins are required for right outcomes." It would take a lot of mental gymnastics to prove that statement. Of course, if either term is not true, the syllogism fails. I wish all that formal logic stuff would come to mind faster for me than it does! In Him, Doc |
