Subject: Is it always a sin to lie? |
Bible Note: Greetings Makarios! Good morning again my friend! Am I 'dodging' Ex. 1 and 2? :-) Allow me to address those two chapters. First of all, the word 'lie' doesn't even appear in the passage. So, I am not sure what I would 'quote' concerning lying. Of course, we all know that the midwives did lie to Pharoah, but nothing is said that either praises or condemns their lie. It is simply reported in the narrative.. Secondly, the passage says that God gave them families because they feared God. Nothing is said, either good or bad about their lie. Finally, Scripture does say: a) That we are not to lie, b) That God cannot lie, c) And, that God abhors lying lips. So, in light of these three points, what point do you believe I am dodging in Ex. 1 and 2? a) Is there a command that we should lie? b) Does God lie in this passage? c) Does it state that God does not abhor lying lips? The three points listed in the first part of this post are all explicitly stated in Scripture. Are we to assume based upon Ex. 1 and 2 that God can lie? Are we to assume that God does not really abhor lying lips? Are we to assume, contrary to His command, that we are to lie? Well, I have to get back to bed. I have been working six days a weel at my bakery job every other week for about 2 months now, plus pastoring. So, I need to squeeze in rest anything I can. Keep our fellowship in prayer. God is really blessing. Our attendence has more than doubled in the last five months. God is good - all the time! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
