Subject: 4th commandment has been done away? |
Bible Note: You wrote: GOD doesn't want us to live by the Ten Commandments because they cause in us death! The Ten are good, holy, and spiritual but as long as I have a flesh body they cause sin in me. See Romans 7:4-12(LIT): - I fear my friend that you are taking hold of your own interpretation rather than the interpretation of the Bible. How can you say that God doesn't want us to live by the ten commandments because they cause us death. It's not the law that brings death but it's the TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW WHICH IS SIN (1John 3:4) and that CAUSE DEATH (Romans 6:23) you qouted it right my friend:What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Let it not be! But I did not know sin except through law; for also I did not know lust except the law said, "You shall not lust." (Ex. 20:17) But sin taking occasion through the commandment worked every lust in me; for apart from law, sin is dead. And I was alive apart from law once, but the commandment came, and sin came alive, and I died. And the commandment which was to life, this was found to be death to me; for sin taking occasion through the commandment deceived me, and through it killed me. So indeed the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. Then that which is good, has it become death to me? Let it not be! But sin, that it might appear to be sin, having worked out death to me through the good, in order that sin might become excessively sinful through the commandment. -Indeed, the law is Holy, Just and Good, though its work doesnt't justify the sinner nor brings salvation. It is God's righteousness. It is through the law that we come to know sin. The law makes sin exceeding sinful it condemns the transgressor, but it has no power to save and restore. Apostle Paul should have written clearly that the Law has useless and its no longer needed since we are already under the new covenant. Why does he have to say , we uphold the law... the law is holy, just and good . Whats the purpose of saying these when we need not to keep the law? Moreover, i haven't read any text from the Bible for saying to us not to obey or keep the law. It may be a nice world if everyone followed the Ten Commandments (TC) but people would still be going to hell if they didn't know Christ, so I'm not so sure that should be anything that we should be desiring. - and neither knowing Christ will lead us to disobedience but its very clear what the Bible has to say in knowing Christ, knowing and loving Christ leads us to obedience in keeping His commandments (John 14:15) We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commandments ( 1John 2:3) and furthermore on verse 4-6 of the same book 4 "The man who says I know but does not do what He commands is a liar and the truth is not in Him, 5But if anyone obeys His word, God's love is truly made complete in Him, this is how we know we are in Him, 6 Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did." I don't live by the TC because Paul says we are no longer under the Law, he also claims that if you are under any of the Law you are under all of it (over 600 ordinances and commands). I have some questions and comments that I would appreciate a response to: - We are indeed no longer under the law if we truly believe as a means of Salvation. Salvation comes totally and always by grace (Romans 6:14, Ephesians 2:80) But it doesn't say that we are not to obey the law. Let me ask you what do you mean when you said you don't live by the TC? do you mean you don't love God and neither your fellowmen to sum up the law. Because whether you agree with me or not If you say you love the Christ you are under His law whether you tell me its the new covenant , the new covenant is as old as the old covenant itself, Love God and Love your Fellowmen. My friend, I will end here and I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you to the truth! I'll give my comment to the questions at a later time. lastly, we don't have to wrestle what the Bible has to say and not. God's word is pure and consistent. It doesn't say obey here and on the other side its okay to disobey. God Bless! may-it |
