Subject: Simple example that we shoud keep sabbat |
Bible Note: God never said go hungry on Sabbath so you don't have to work. God never said let a man suffer on Sabbath so you do no work. These teachings show that there is a place for Sabbath in the world. NOT to ignore them completely. Just as a father is commanded to circumcise his son even if it falls on Sabbath was taught in the OT. I think that the point that Christ was trying to make is that there were Jews that were WORSHIPING SABBATH AS AN IDOL instead of keeping is holy as is the commandment. Christ never came to do away with God's instructions (Torah) he came correcting doctrine. Remember chapter 15 of Mat. Christ Didn't chastise them for Washing their hands. He didn't even care that they had made a little ceremony of the whole process. What he disputed was them taking the ceremony and making it out to be a standard of holiness beyond what He had established in Torah. They were taking that standard and measuring the disciples with it. That is what Christ came to correct, making up your own standards (like picking which commandments you feel like keeping) and measuring others by them, putting your standards and judgments above His. BTW Ask any Catholic priest and they will tell you that the only significance to the "Sunday Sabbath" is to mark you as a Catholic. |
