Bible Note: humpy -- Your view of eschatology, the Preterist interpretation developed by the Jesuits, is by no means universally held among Christian believers. It is but one of four major interpretations, the other three being Historical (Postmilennialism), Idealst (Amillennalism), and Futuristic (Premillennialism). ..... I hold to the Futuristic, or Premillennial, perspective, as do a wide number of evangelicals around the world, and as did numerous church fathers from the initial Christian centuries. This perspective is in perfect harmony with the message of the entire Bible. Far fewer interpretive enigmas are engendered by this approach. I post this not to invite an eschatological debate (I will not debate eschatology), but to lend to your answer perspective and balance by noting that there certainly are other views that large numbers of Christian believers hold and consider quite viable and more harmonious with Scripture than the Preterist. --Hank |
