Subject: 18 Book of Revelation |
Bible Note: Greetings Humpy! Things which are mentioned in prophecy can be spoken of in the past tense, even before they occur. For instance, look at Is. 53:5: "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." All these prophetic statements about Christ and the cross are spoken of in the past tense, yet they had not yet occurred at the time of Isaiah. So, it does not follow in Revelation that the events of Revelation must already be fulfilled because the 144,000 are spoken of as being offered up as the firstfruits. Besides, you yourself acknowledged that Rev. 1:1 speaks of things which must soon occur. Hence, they hadn't occured at the time of John's writing. So, again, your argument doesn't work. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
