Subject: Prove the will of God is the Word of God |
Bible Note: Greetings BradK! I remember listening to a sermon by John MacArthur on expository preaching. In it, he quoted someone who told him that his approach to Scripture was to simply take everything as applying to everyone. MacArthur responded, 'Well, that doesn't make much sense'! It seems that so much bad theology and false doctrine is based upon a lack of ability to understand context (as I know that you are aware). Noah was commanded to build an ark, I wasn't! Israel was promised certain things in their covenant with God, but they don't automatically apply to me. Further, so many people make broad principles that make no sense if carried to their logical conclusion. If physical healing is part of the atonement, then no Christian would ever get sick or ever die. If God always gives back ten fold, then TV preachers should send me 10.00 so that God will send them 100.00. Yet, they keep asking me for 10.00! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
