961 | the discussion of moses body in james | Jude 1:6 | azurelaw | 232035
Dear jdecka, The correct verse should be Jude 1:6. The cross reference for this verse is Deut 34:6 which talked about Moses died alone in the land of Moab. You may also check on an old post number 9016 for further explanation. Shalom Azure |

962 | Why did God cast Lucifer out of heaven? | Jude 1:6 | azurelaw | 242407
Dear LiKiMa, Welcome to the forum. Those questions you asked sound like homework question and you have already answered your own question by asking "why did Lucifer disobey God" :-) Fallen angel sinned that's why they are punished (2 Peter 2:4). Jude 1:6 explains how did they sin. Angels are created as ministering spirits (Hebrew 1:14). Thus Jude 1:6 implies that they are not doing their own job but rebel against God. Shalom Azure |

967 | understanding the book of revelation | Revelation | azurelaw | 193256
Dear Janice, The Book of Revelation has caused a lot of controveries in dicussing the end time events. There are some schools of thoughts developed. However, I do not fall into any of the categories. May I offer my below approach to the study. 1/ The genre of the book : letter with recipients (the 7 churches) 2/ Background of the readers, e.g. contemporary christians under tribulation. 3/ Historical background by the time John wrote the book. 4/ John's usage of symbolic concept from OT books (e.g. Exodus, Ezekiel, Daniel, Isaiah, etc) 5/ John's purpose of writing the book - comfort, strengthen and encourage the christians who were under tribulation by that time, rebuke the wrong doings of the churches (see the letter to the 7 churches), prophesying, etc. 6/ The layout of order. Contrasting the chaos on earth with the orderly worship in heaven. Message to the contemporary suffering christians : God is sovereign and in control. He will judge. We should persevere and endure to the end. First death is our physical death. Second death is for the unrighteous being put to the lake of fire on the judgement day. Just my 2 cents. Hope they are helpful for your understanding. I am still learning, too. Should you find anything wrong, I am open for correction. Shalom Azure |

968 | is locust of joel the 2nd deathmessenger | Revelation | azurelaw | 214443
Dear dieselcowboy, "...in this case [studying the Book of Revelation] exegesis is especially crucial. For this is a book on which a lot of popular books and pamphlets have been written. In almost every case, these popular books do no exegesis at all. They jump immediately to hermeneutics, which usually takes the form of fanciful speculations that John himself could never possibly have intended or understood." --- Fee and Stuart I would recommend you the book "How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth" by Fee and Stuart. They provide helpful guidelines for our Bible study. Shalom Azure |

970 | Will the AntiChrist speek 666 languages | Revelation | azurelaw | 220988
Dear mamashell, I don't see any biblical support for such saying thus I would not weigh it with much measure. For past discussions about the antichrist issue, you may make use of the "Advanced Search" function (blue letter) on the top right hand corner, type in "antichrist" and the tracable period. It will lead you to a number of past posts. Shalom Azure P.S. I don't hold the view that there will be actually a visible "stamp" or "mark" of 666. But rather it is a symbolic meaning that people who are allied with and worship the ungodly/rebellious/evil authority in their "minds" (666 on the forehead) and "deeds" (666 on the hands). However, I am open to be corrected with scriptural support :-) |

971 | GOD/ SATAN TEETH | Revelation | azurelaw | 228897
Dear Sharanlynn, Welcome to the forum. Why do you think Satan has teeth? Whatever the preacher says, it must be support by scripture. So, you better do your research base on the Bible to see what the Bible say about Satan. You may also do a word search on bible text on the right hand side with "angel" or "devil" or "satan" to locate verses about the subject. Frankly speaking, I don't think whether Satan has teeth/being teethout an interesting subject deserves our effort (comparatively to other essential Christian doctrines) to study. Shalom Azure |

973 | Genesis 1-2 | Rev 1:8 | azurelaw | 222811
Dear renamacd, Yes and no. Yes, Genesis 1-2 tell us about the origin of the universe, earth and people. No, there is no origin of God. See Rev 1:8. God is at all self-existent eternally. He is the creator of all (including time and space). 974 | studying the crucifixion | Rev 2:7 | azurelaw | 201109
Dear Lungowe, A word search for "paradise" is helpful. Strong's number 3857 paradeisos; of Pers. or. (enclosure); a park, a garden, a paradise:--Paradise(3). Related verses are: 2 Cor 12:4 was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. Rev 2:7 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.' Therefore, it is safe to understand it as heaven, Eden - the garden of God as portrayed in Revelation. Hope the above is helpful. Shalom Azure P.S. Thanks to our host, the Lockman Foundation, for providing us the handy tool of word search. |

976 | I want to get back to Jesus. | Rev 3:3 | azurelaw | 191699
Dear LJ777, When reading your question, the first thing comes to mind is the story of the prodigal son described in Luke 15. I believe the moment you had the above questions in mind was a sign of the Holy Spirit's work in you to urge for your repentance. C.H. Spurgeon has depicted a beautiful and loving picture in his sermon which I am glad to quote as an encouragement. ******** "And kissed him."—Luke 15:20. ...the subject of which will be, the overflowing love of God toward the returning sinner. The determination to return home is good; but it is when the wandering boy begins the business of really carrying out the good resolve, that he draws near the blessing. If any of you here present have long been saying, "I will repent; I will turn to God"; leave off resolving, and come to practicing; and may God in His mercy lead you both to repent and to believe in Christ! Before the kisses of love were given, this young man was on his way to his father; but he would not have reached him unless his father had come the major part of the way. When you give God and inch, He will give you an ell. If you come a little way to Him, when you are "yet a great way off" He will run to meet you. I do not know that the prodigal saw his father, but his father saw him. The eyes of mercy are quicker than the eyes of repentance. Even the eyes of our faith is dim compared with the eye of God's love. He sees a sinner long before a sinner sees Him. I do not suppose that the prodigal travelled very fast. I should imagine that he came very slowly— "With heavy heart and downcast eye, With many a sob and many a sigh." Slow are the steps of repentance, but swift are the feet of forgiveness. God can run where we scarcely limp, and if we are limping towards Him, He will run towards us. ******************** (to read more, go to http://www.biblebb.com/files/spurgeon/2236.htm) Shalom Azure |

979 | Will we recognize loved ones in Heaven | Rev 7:9 | azurelaw | 190526
Dear angelinwaiting, ------- Many people state that the first thing they want to do when they arrive in Heaven is see all their friends and loved ones who had passed on before them. I do not think this will be the case. Yes, I do believe we will be able to see, know, and spend time with our friends and family members in Heaven. In eternity, there will be plenty of time for that. However, I do not think that will be our primary focus in Heaven. I believe we will be far more occupied with worshipping God and enjoying the wonders of Heaven to be concerned with being reunited with our loved ones right away. What does the Bible say about whether we will be able to see and know our loved ones in Heaven? When David’s infant son died as a result of David’s sin with Bathsheba, after his time of grief David declared, “But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (2 Samuel 12:23). David assumed that he would be able to recognize his son in heaven, despite the fact that he died as a baby. The Bible declares that when we arrive in Heaven, we will “be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 describes our resurrection bodies: “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” Just as our earthly bodies were of the first man Adam (1 Corinthians 15:47a) so will our resurrection bodies be just like Christ’s (1 Corinthians 15:47b). “And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:49,53). Many people recognized Jesus after His resurrection (John 20:16, 20; 21:12; 1 Corinthians 15:4-7). So, if Jesus was recognizable in His resurrection body, I see no reason to believe that ours will be any different. Being able to see our loved ones is a glorious aspect of Heaven – but Heaven is far more about God, and far less about our own wants. What a pleasure it will be to be reunited with our loved one, and worship God with our loved ones for all eternity. Source: http://www.gotquestions.org/family-heaven.html --------- Shalom Azure |

980 | who is the angel in rev.10/1 | Rev 10:1 | azurelaw | 199179
Dear mommaw, Welcome to the forum. Most bible scholars believe it be Jesus Christ. "... another mighty angel--as distinguished from the mighty angel who asked as to the former and more comprehensive book (Revelation 5:2), "Who is worthy to open the book?" clothed with a cloud--the emblem of God coming in judgment. a--A; B, C. and Aleph read "the"; referring to (Revelation 4:3) the rainbow already mentioned. rainbow upon his head--the emblem of covenant mercy to God's people, amidst judgments on God's foes. Resumed from Revelation 4:3 face as . . . the sun--(Revelation 1:16, 18:1). feet as pillars of fire--(Revelation 1:15, Ezekiel 1:7). The angel, as representative of Christ, reflects His glory and bears the insignia attributed in Revelation 1:15,16, 4:3, to Christ Himself. The pillar of fire by night led Israel through the wilderness, and was the symbol of God's presence." (Jamieson Fausett Brown) "The person who was principally concerned in communicating this discovery to John—an angel from heaven, another mighty angel, who is so set forth as would induce one to think it could be no other than our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! 1. He was clothed with a cloud: he veils his glory, which is too great for mortality to behold; and he throws a veil upon his dispensations. Clouds and darkness are round about him. 2. A rainbow was upon his head; he is always mindful of his covenant, and, when his conduct is most mysterious, yet it is perfectly just and faithful. 3. His face was as the sun, all bright, and full of lustre and majesty, ch. 1:16. 4. His feet were as pillars of fire; all his ways, both of grace and providence, are pure and steady." (Matthew Henry) Hope the above helpful. Shalom Azure |
