941 | do you think tarot cards are a sin? | Lev 19:31 | azurelaw | 189165
Dear leapordgirl13, Tarot cards are just pieces of hard paper imprint with wierd figures. But playing tarot cards is sin. Please read Lev 19:31 and the below scripture: Lev 20:6 'As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. Shalom Azure P.S. May I ask if your age qualifies you to the forum? Have you read the terms of use of the forum concerning the age requirement? |

942 | I want to know if I have to give my thit | 2 Cor 9:7 | azurelaw | 189106
Dear Marbella, Congratulations and welcome to the family of God. Don't worry too much about your English. I am not a native English speaking person for I am a Chinese living in Hong Kong. Brothers and sisters here at the forum are kind, patient and loving to help you study the bible as what they have done to me. Concerning your questions, please see the below scriptures I would like to offer: 2 Cor 9:7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Mark 12:41 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. Mark 12:42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. Mark 12:43 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; Mark 12:44 for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on." Keep on studying His Word. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

944 | How is David's census considered sinful? | 2 Sam 24:3 | azurelaw | 188978
Dear daveriff2, I will try to answer as best as I can. David tends to rely on his force instead of God (see verse 3). He has always been relying on God to fight for him in the past no matter how many army he has got. But he is alert and quick to repent. (see verse 10) Also see how does David reply in verse 14 regarding the options of punishment given by God. I think David is a good example for us that even we sin with our folly, we have to be alert with what we have done and be quick to repent. Hope the above is helpful. Shalom Azure |

Dear otahuti, Ex 20:4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.... 1/ Why do you think sculpting is a form of worship to God? 2/ Do you mean that you want to explain to children how people make their idols by sculpting? Thanks for your further elaboration. Shalom Azure |

947 | Tell me more about satan before this? | Ps 14:2 | azurelaw | 188882
Greetings to you DFW, Brother Kalos has given you sufficient answers. You can do a word search on your right hand corner locate past posts on similar subject. I understand that people are curious to ask questions as yours. However, maybe you can consider that the Bible has a much much bigger portion for our STUDY to know more about God, Jesus and His teachings. I trust that we will be more edified and blessed when we spend much of our time and focus our study on the Sovereign and Loving God. Frankly, I don't care too much about what Satan did before being cast down from heaven. I just take and stay alert with what the Bible said about him as a deceiver, devil, anti-Christ, lier.... Hope I did not offend you. I just want that we have a better focus. Enjoy the forum, brother/sisiter(?) Shalom Azure Ps 14:2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. Ps 27:4 One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple. Ps 40:16 Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, "The LORD be magnified!" Ps 105:4 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. Ps 122:9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. |

953 | God's Right to Rule. | Ps 2:11 | azurelaw | 188312
Dear Looking, You said : ".....is there another more legitimate basis ..." Now, you talk about legitimacy. May I ask where did you get the idea of legitimacy? Job 38:4 "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, Job 38:5 Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? Job 38:6 "On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, Job 38:16 "Have you entered into the springs of the sea Or walked in the recesses of the deep? Job 38:16 "Have the gates of death been revealed to you, Or have you seen the gates of deep darkness? Job 38:17 "Have the gates of death been revealed to you, Or have you seen the gates of deep darkness? Job 38:18 "Have you understood the expanse of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this. Job 40:2 "Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it." Job 40:8 "Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified? Job 41:11 "Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine. Ps 8:1 O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! Ps 8:3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; Ps 8:4 What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Ps 8:5 Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! May God lead you to His way and bless you. Shalom Azure |

955 | standards for a preacher/biship | 1 Tim 3:2 | azurelaw | 187736
Dear ystallings, Welcome to the forum. When I am following the thread to read those posts, I have come across with Kalos post #171996 titled with "The Issue is Not Marital Status". Maybe you should take a look as I find it very helpful (at least for me). His post has clarified the questions I have in mind for years. I always feel sad about my brother who got divorced (Let me skip the details. It was not about adultery, he had tried his very best to secure the relationship, but could not change the mind of the woman) a year after being ordained as pastor. Following this is another strike, he was forbiddened to teach at his own church (for his divorce) where he grown up and loved so much. After years of struggle for recovery, he remarried to another woman (I believe she is sent from God). A very devoted and mature Christian. I thank God for sending him this blessing. Shalom Azure |

956 | An audible voice proves one is saved? | Matt 7:21 | azurelaw | 186602
Is 65:1 "I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask for Me; I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me. I said, 'Here am I, here am I,' To a nation which did not call on My name. Is 65:2 "I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in the way which is not good, following their own thoughts, Jer 29:13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me WITH ALL YOUR HEART. Dear Looking, May I suggest that you SINCERELY read what Doc has commended if you are truly seeking the truth for yourself. If you are curious about the issue for a third party while you yourself are not sincere to tackle your own, I would like to propose the below scriptures for you: John 21:21 So Peter seeing him *said to Jesus, "Lord, and what about this man?" John 21:22 Jesus *said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, WHAT IS THAT TO YOU? YOU FOLLOW ME!" May God bless you and enlight you with His Words Shalom Azure |

957 | Is lifestyle change proof of salvation? | Matt 7:21 | azurelaw | 186530
Jesus said: John 10:27-29 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand" v29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. Dear Looking..., I am not sure whether you think the above verses directly answer to your questions, however, I would hope that these verses can shed some lights on your doubts. Ask yourself: Do I know His voice? Do I follow Him? Yes, we do fall away at times in our trials. However, I remember a story told by a pastor long time ago. He said that when the shepherd find a certain sheep too naughty and always goes astray that risk its life to the wild animals, he will use his staff to beat and break the sheep's leg. So that the sheep cannot walk and the shepherd will lovingly carry the sheep in his bossom and care for it dearly until it recovers. The sheep being punished will never do the same foolish thing for it is really painful for the punishment. Shalom Azure |

958 | Die unexposed to Jesus no redemption? | Eph 1:5 | azurelaw | 186431
An echo to Rom 1:19-20 with a Chinese perspective May I add a little bit of my thought (though I am not an expert). The English word "righteousness" is expressed and developed into Chinese by using "pictograph" and "meaning borrowing words". Perhaps some of you may already knew that Chinese originally develop words with "pictograph". A very simple example is the Chinese word meaning day. Ancient Chinese drew a circle representing the sun and put a dot in the centre. Then we have the word "day" in Chinese. For the English "righteousness", this Chinese word is composed of the upper and the lower part. The upper part was developed from the "drawing of a lamb with fire burning underneath" - this symbolizes the meaning of sacrifice (now, you see how it represents the work of our dear Jesus, though the ancient Chinese did not know Jesus). The lower part is the Chinese word means "I". Therefore, the interperation is that by the sacrificing of the Lamb, we (I am) are able to be called righteous. So, we can see before the gospel was spread to China, God has used His own way to reveal Himself to different nations in the ancient time. Shalom Azure |

Dear Suzie, I would like to offer the below verse to your husband. Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are RESPONSIVE TO and CONTROLLED BY THE SPIRIT] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, KEEPING AN ATTENTIVE EYE ON YOURSELF, LEST YOU SHOULD BE TEMPTED ALSO. My emphasis is capitalized. Shalom Azure |
