902 | Will we recognize loved ones in Heaven | Rev 7:9 | azurelaw | 190526 | ||
Dear angelinwaiting, ------- Many people state that the first thing they want to do when they arrive in Heaven is see all their friends and loved ones who had passed on before them. I do not think this will be the case. Yes, I do believe we will be able to see, know, and spend time with our friends and family members in Heaven. In eternity, there will be plenty of time for that. However, I do not think that will be our primary focus in Heaven. I believe we will be far more occupied with worshipping God and enjoying the wonders of Heaven to be concerned with being reunited with our loved ones right away. What does the Bible say about whether we will be able to see and know our loved ones in Heaven? When David’s infant son died as a result of David’s sin with Bathsheba, after his time of grief David declared, “But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (2 Samuel 12:23). David assumed that he would be able to recognize his son in heaven, despite the fact that he died as a baby. The Bible declares that when we arrive in Heaven, we will “be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 describes our resurrection bodies: “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” Just as our earthly bodies were of the first man Adam (1 Corinthians 15:47a) so will our resurrection bodies be just like Christ’s (1 Corinthians 15:47b). “And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:49,53). Many people recognized Jesus after His resurrection (John 20:16, 20; 21:12; 1 Corinthians 15:4-7). So, if Jesus was recognizable in His resurrection body, I see no reason to believe that ours will be any different. Being able to see our loved ones is a glorious aspect of Heaven – but Heaven is far more about God, and far less about our own wants. What a pleasure it will be to be reunited with our loved one, and worship God with our loved ones for all eternity. Source: http://www.gotquestions.org/family-heaven.html --------- Shalom Azure |

903 | need to explain | Luke 6:27 | azurelaw | 190482 | ||
Dear Chrisatissac, Sister(?, I guess), I think it is more appropriate for you to seek advice from pastor, elders or godly women at your church. However, I have a few points to make. 1/ Jesus asked us to love even our enemies, what should be the measure of love to take when the one against us is our relatives. 2/ From what you described, you are citing some past events (I think you had been severely hurt) which I can sense your BITTERNESS. That is not good. We cannot love anyone with bitterness in our heart. Bitterness also blinds our sight to know God's will. 3/ Yes, you are right. How can you love someone without a relationship (or link) with him/her! This is your trial. 4/ Please let God's Word speak to you first. I am afraid I did not help much. I will keep you in my prayers, dear Chrisatissac. Shalom Azure |

904 | s the slave asking for forgiveness? | Matt 18:26 | azurelaw | 190480 | ||
Hi Steve, When I am doing a search of discussions on Mat 18:21-35, I come across with your old post (question). Wow, again I have to say that what a loving and merciful God we have - He forgives our sin before we ask for forgiveness but just humble ourselves and fall to the ground in front of His throne (as the slave did) and admit our debt. Praise the Lord - Salvation by grace alone! Shalom Azure |

910 | explaining Jobs friends to kids | Job | azurelaw | 190104 | ||
Dear Mainzy, I am not sure if I can help you. I am pleased to offer what I have learnt (in general) concerning Job's friends after my reading of the book. 1/ Job's friends were very sincere (comparing to nowadays people) to Job. (Job 2:11-13) 2/ They were self-righteous (see their conversation with Job). By that, even their motives were to help Job, but just brought more pains and hurts to him. Proverb 25:11 Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances. 3/ They misinterpreted or did not understand God. That is a sin. (Job 42:7) Hope the above is helpful when you try your way to help the kids. Shalom Azure |

911 | what are 3 meanings of LOVE | Romans | azurelaw | 190102 | ||
Dear kkstone, Welcome to the forum. I am curious to know why do you think there are 3 meanings of love in OT and NT. God is love. Roman 5:8 But God DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE (I capitlize it for emphasis) toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Please read 1 Cor 13 and Roman 5. I hope I have answered your question. Shalom Azure |

912 | Who wrote the book of Chronicles? | Ezra 7:10 | azurelaw | 190100 | ||
---Quote Early Jewish tradition recorded in the Talmud ascribed the authorship of Chronicles to Ezra. Modern studies of the linguistic differences that exist between the Books of Ezra and Chronicles have led some scholars to reject this ancient view(1). Internal evidence suggests that if the writer was not Ezra he was probably a contemporary of Ezra. It is very common today to speak of the unknown writer as 'the Chronicler'. (1) E.g. Sara Japhet, "The Supposed Common Authorship of Chronicles and Ezra-Nehemiah Investigated Anew." 920 | occupations of the apostles | Matthew | azurelaw | 189838 | ||
Welcome, leta4christ: --quote: Who were the disciples? "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him (Mt. 10:1-; see also Mk. 3;18; Lk. 6;14). " All of the twelve disciples were Galileans except Judas who came from Kerioth. Of the twelve: four were fishermen, one a publican (or a tax collector), and another a Zealot (or revolutionary). The occupations of the other six are not known. --unquote Source: Dr. Lee W. Warren at http://www.plim.org/Web articles96/What happen to 12 Disciples Apr96.html Shalom Azure |
