Dear Tinah, In Mark 6:3 listed some of the names of Jesus' brothers. "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and JUDAS and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?" I am not sure if Jude is identical to Judas. Hope this is helpful. Shalom Azure |

926 | No conviction | James 2:19 | azurelaw | 189597
Dear hunger, Your first statement "A woman gave into her flesh .... " What do you mean? Was she willing or unwilling under threatening? You say "She acknowledges her sin but is not sorry..." We can acknowledge many things, be it a fact, an incidence or a theory.... just as what was said in James 2:19 without any influences on us. I urge you to read the whole chapter of James 2. Without a repenting heart, what's the reason to ask for forgiveness? It also doesn't make sense even to ask a friend for forgiveness when one does not feel sorry nor is not willing to repent. Know that our God is Mighty and HOLY and cannot be deceived. "What is repentance? Let me read to you from the Westminster Confession of Faith, a document that comes to us from the seventeenth century: "By [repentance] a sinner, out of the sight and sense not only of the danger, but also of the filthiness and odiousness of his sins, as contrary to the holy nature and righteous law of God; and upon the apprehension of his mercy in Christ to such as are penitent, so grieves for, and hates his sins, as to turn from them all unto God, purposing and endeavoring to walk with him in all the ways of his commandments. . . yet [repentance] is of such necessity to all sinners, that none may expect pardon without it. As there is no sin so small that it deserves damnation; so there is no sin so great that it can bring damnation upon those who truly repent. Men ought not to content themselves with a general repentance, but it is every man's duty to endeavor to repent of his particular sins, particularly" (Westminster Confession of Faith, chapter XV, sections II, III, IV)." - by P. G. Mathew (source: http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/) Hope I did not misunderstand you. Your further elaboration would be very much appreciated. Shalom Azure |

939 | forgiveness | 2 Cor 13:5 | azurelaw | 189317
Dear NightJay, Brother lionheart has given you very good answers. May I add a little bit of my thought. I had watched a movie few months ago where the main character was so overwhelmed with his vengeance that he was on his way to kill his enemy. His girl friend asked him to stop, but he could not. So the lady decided to leave him on the scene even the man begged her to stay by saying "I love you". However, the lady replied, "What is left with you to love?" I don't mean that you are outraged with vengeance and I do believe you are ready to forgive, I just want to borrow the concept that "Be our heart filled with bitterness, what is it left with to love?" I think, in order to forgive others, we have to first forgive ourselves that leaving no bitterness in us. Just see how Jesus forgives us so willingly and dearly. I will pray for you, dear brother. I know it hurts (my experience did tell me). Shalom Azure |

940 | loving others | 1 Cor 13:1 | azurelaw | 189258
Dear NightJay, Glad to know that you like to learn about this wide and deep subject. Keep up the good work. May I offer my 0.2 percent (I dare not say 2 percent) of my understanding concerning the subject. God is love. (You probably know this) Paul has given us a detail description about love in 1 Corinthian 13. Most of the time the sermons I heard, the speakers quoted the famous 1 Cor 13 as an encouragement / guideline to us for treating one another especially in wedding ceremonies. One day, our cell group leader shared with us an additional view that 1 Cor 13 is talking about God. For He is the source of love. It seems I have not answered your question yet. Matt 22:39 ....and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." If you don't love yourself, how can you love your neighbour? Who control our lives? GOD, no one else. Hope the above is helpful to you. Maybe you will be interest in reading the book "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis. Shalom Azure |
