43 | Summary of letters to the seven churches | Rev 1:11 | Scribe | 86431
Part 2 of 2 The Pergamos church are those that have a boldness and a zeal to take the battle to the gates of hell, they are quick to “stand up for their rights” demanding prayer in public schools, protesting abortion clinics, and many other things that seem like the right thing for us to do. They are even willing to die for the cause of Christ.. Nevertheless they seem to wink at personal sins, they allow doctrines to remain in their pulpits, minds, and hearts that tell them that it is ok to allow a little compromise, they will still be ok. Jesus hates this and demands repentance. Thyatira is the missionary church, raising money and doing great works, feeding the poor, feeding the hungry, and has many such missionary works ongoing that are all to be commended for, however this is the type of church or Christian that also entertains the idea that their missionary zeal will make up for a doctrine of compromise that says it is ok to have a porn addiction or other such compromise. The church at Sardis, is the church that is almost not a church. There are a few that really know the Lord and are still seeking Him, but many that are playing the church role, only on Sunday with no regard to the things of God any other day of the week, they are not even sure if they are saved or what the word means. They are the dead denomination that keeps presenting the front that they are a church but few among them have eternal life. The church of Philadelphia is the Church that is fervent of spirit, and they are known for Keeping His Word, they are Word focused and base all things as it relates to God and Christ on the Word, They are full of love for the Lord and for each other, making this their motive for service, they contend with those that would put saints under the law and refuse to compromise in the area of FAITH and worshipping in spirit and in truth. This local assembly or Christian is labeled a heretic by those that pretend to be experts in the “legality” of doctrine, but they never waver and keep on quoting the word rightly understood. The Laodecians are those churches or Christians that are not even willing to question for one second whether their denomination, colleges, pastors, or books are in error, they are confident that they sit on top of all the churches and are the blessed of God, that they have a better handle on doctrine than any other group and that their “fine” institutions have enabled them to say “that this is the finest hour the church has ever seen” and they have become smug and pompous in their pride. They have no need. They are confident that they are a light of the blind, a teacher of the foolish, an instructor of babes, and anyone that dares question their interpretation of scripture is pitied as ignorant and unlearned. They are certain that their denominational strength enables them to do great things in the world to advance the kingdom of God and are certain that God is behind it all. However they have no reliance on the Holy Spirit to give them power to be witnesses. They rely on programs and organized efforts distributed by their headquarters and not on the leading of the Spirit in their hearts. They are rich and increased with worldy power but they do not recall the scripture that says Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. I have by no means exhausted the descriptions given. But if you meditate on these things, (provided you are born again, (the natural man cannot receive the spiritual things of God)) then the Lord will open them up to you as you trust Him to do so. |

44 | Summary of letters to the seven churches | Rev 1:11 | Scribe | 86430
Part of 2 The message to the seven churches are the words of Christ to the Church. If you ever wandered what Jesus would say about your church if He were to show and and tell you, you do not have to wonder any longer. All you have to do is read and prayerfully meditate on Reve 2 and 3. The angel tells John what the meaning of the vision of the Glorified Son of God is. He is told that the stars He holds are the angels of the seven churches and the candlesticks are the seven churches. The KJV scholars being faithful to the greek translated it angels and that is exactly what the Lord wanted us to understand. Without going into it so I can fit everything in this post, using angels was to convey the promise that if the pastors and leadership and preachers are faithful they will inherit great rewards and be “as” the angels. The candlesticks in Jesus hand speaks of all the church and not just these 7. Is Jesus only holding these 7 churches in his hands or are not all saints, (all the church) in the palm of His hand? So why 7, it speaks the whole true church and not just those that call themselves church. The Lord knows whos are his and let every man that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. As you review each church I believe you are seeing a type of church, denomination, local assembly, or even individual Christian conditions of the heart. In church history you might even be able to identify certain church “ages” or historic periods where a particular church in this list fits the condition of the church world wide until a certain change like the reformation etc.. As much as has been written about those things, they never edify me or bear witness in my spirit. I feel that the best application is, a type of local assembly, denominational or otherwise, and a type of Christian condition. So from the time it was written until today we have always had all 7 types with us and all saints of all ages can read this portion and determine to please Christ based on what is revealed here about what Jesus hates and what he likes in our lives and in our churches. So in Ephesus, you have a type of denomination, local church or even a Christian that is very effective at identifying false doctrine and hates the teachings that lead to compromise as it relates to sin, but in their perfection of doctrine and their willingness to “contend” for the faith, they have left their first love. What is the first love? We can say it is the affectionate adoratioin of the believer to Jesus Christ, or the whole hearted devotion to the person of Jesus. It is very common for very educated theologians who began with no knowledge of scripture at all and were known for their fervency of spirit and love for the Lord, to grow cold over time and after learning all doctrine, to leave off worship and adoration of Christ who washed them from their sins. It is also common for denominations who started off with a fresh revelation the church needed, to perfect that doctrine and become champions of that doctrine and yet loose their love for Christ and the freshness of that doctrine they once knew, so that they become a mechanized machine going through the motions. The Smyrna church is that type of church or Christians that have nothing in the eyes of the world, even living in government projects or worse in persecution in countries that arrest Christians, that have all that really matters, a love for the Lord and willing heart to go all the way with Christ. These saints are poor in the eyes of the world, but they bubble over with the love of Christ and are rich in heaven. These are they that keep on glowing even when the world seems set on stamping them out. They don’t follow the name it and claim it crowd because they don’t really care what they drive, their heart is set on higher things and so they are counted WORTHY to suffer for his name so that they might receive treasures this world can never know. 45 | I'm still looking for the answer | Phil 1:14 | Scribe | 86337
Because Paul was an example to them. They were inspired to greater faith. To preach without regard to the consequences. That is what happens when we see others that have faith that is willing to suffer persecution without backing down. It makes others rise up in faith as well. And Faith (as well as love) casts out fear. If |

I tried to witness to a team of Mormon young men once. The ones that ride bikes and wear uniforms. They were very polite until I told them they were going to hell if they did not repent and believe Jesus was God. The leader turned red in the face and all the niceness left. He was so angry that I would presume to tell him he was not going to heaven. I was surprised at how shook up he was. I decided then to use that method more often. I had read the "ways to witness to cults" methods but they had not effect. They bounced off his mind as if I had said nothing. But when I told him with authority he would wake up in hell and only have himself to blame for being decieved becuase deep down inside he knew that he was following a cult, his head almost exploded.
48 | Memorization technique (along w/ prayer) | Col 3:16 | Scribe | 86239
I think that sounds like a great idea. I have never used it. I might try it out. I personally do something that I know not everyone can do or needs to do. I memorize entire books word for word, in KJV. I get so much revelation by doing this that I have become quite addicted to it. I doubt I will be able to finish the Bible in my lifetime but I will have lots of fun trying. I admit I do skip genealogies and have not attempted books like Leviticus. My goal is to memorize the New Testament first. I began with the epistles of Paul and my first book was Ephesians. It was an easy goal and packed with powerful verses. I am working on Revelation, Matthew, John, and Romans currently. Only I don't memorize verse numbers. If memorize the chapters only. I can remember when a chapter changes, but not each verse and to do so interferes with the revelation, at least for me it does so I focus on the words and thoughts and not on the divisions. I would only suggest that such an outline memorization could hurt if the outline heading ends up causing an interpretation or application or limitation not suggested by the text bur by someones opinion of the text. I have seen many outlines that annoyed me becuase of the flagrant denominational slant suggesting a chapter of part of a chapter had to do with something it did not in my opinion. In which case it would be better to memorize the text first then come up with your own outline based on what you think it means. That outline could change of course as you get more light but at least you are not tainting your mind to think in terms of something that is not there. For example you could memorize an outline about Romans 7 as "The christian's struggle with the flesh" whereas I would rather memorize it as "the struggle with the flesh while trying to obey the law" two entirely different meanings as to what the passage is about. May God Bless you As You Memorize His Word, His Word is ALIVE and POWERFUL. |

49 | Where are these names written down? | Jer 17:13 | Scribe | 86237
Man, what an awesome verse of scripture. Thanks for sharing it mommapbs. I noticed that the KJV says it like this... Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters. I was thinking of Jesus writing in the sand while waiting for those without sin to cast the first stone. I like the idea (I know it is only speculation) that Jesus was writing the names of people they had sinned with like in adultery and they saw their names there and were so shocked by his omniescience they left. I think it had to be something like that becuase there are plenty of people who would pick up a stone and hurl it and declare they had never sinned people who are obstinate and beligerant and do not care whether they were lying or not, but something about Jesus writing in the sand made them all convicted. |

50 | Pt.1 Female Overseer | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 86222
How far do you go with this. I mean, I agree that a man should be a pastor. But what about people who work for women bosses? Are these men messed up? Should they be seeking a different job? What about women in the church who work and are in management positions over men. Are they out of the will of God? Does this rule that women should not be in authority over men only apply to church? If we believe that the correct interpretation of these passages is that women should never be in a position of authority over a man, then are we going to live like we believe that or are we going to play games with it, saying a woman cannot teach in our church and yet go to work on Monday and say yes maam to our boss? What kind of truthfulness is that? We either believe this is the interpretation or we are not sure. I think most people who are so adament about not believing a woman can pastor are compromisers becuase they will work for women and submit to women on their jobs. Where do we get the authority to say that it is ok to submit to a woman on your job and not in the church? Either stand by your principles or admit your not clear about this authority and women thing. And if you are not clear about it, then maybe we are messing up the meaning of these passages. If there is room to submit to a female boss at work then we are seeing some kind of "acception" to the rule. If we have confidence we are in the will of God while living with this "acception" to the rule, then we have moved into the realm of spiritual application to New Testament rules or given ourselves liberty to apply the spirit of the rule rather than the letter of the law. And what then is the meaning of the spirit of the rule here, if it is about authority then we have "bent" the rule at work by submitting to women bosses, if we say the rule cannot be bent or we are in violation to the word, then we should be true to our convictions and quit our jobs and not accept another that places us under the authority of women. If we believe this is wrong and yet we continue under the authority of women, we sin. Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. I would not sit under a woman pastor. I do not believe it is correct to have women pastors but I do think that it is becuae of a hard fast rule about authority, I believe I can have a woman at work in authority over me, but I (would never marry such a woman :) ) Have you ever considered that Paul was speaking about spiritual things. That in the church it is Love that matters and it would be a hinderance to the spreading of the Gospel in that day when women were not allowed to lead in Jewish religion to allow them to lead in the church, it would make it unnecessarily hard for men to hear or even listen to the message. It would be better for if a woman who was gifted and called to ministry of the word to submit to men so that the message could be recieved, so we have Pricilla and Aquila and Pricilla seems to be the main teacher and even teaches a man Appollos but she is always named with her husband Aquilla which shows a submissive heart and therefore men like Apollos are well able to recieve her teachings becuase she is not usurping authority over a man. By the way let us always focus on every word of the text, the words are must not usurp authority over a man which speaks of a brash sort of pushing oneself forward in a fleshly authority. But having a gift to minister does not automatically put the woman in violation of the authority issue. As a matter of fact there are more instances of women usurping authority over men is brash and fleshly way at your work than in the church. Often in the church you have a "submitted" woman getting grief for daring to teach the Bible, and yet the women who are USURPING authority over men at work are left alone. Just a few thoughts to help kick off the second round of the debate. :) |

51 | What is truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 86218
Bible Truth Follows. John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth. Revelation 5:8-14 And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, and madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests; and they reign upon earth. And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might and honor, and glory, and blessing. And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things are in them, heard I saying, Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever. And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped. Whatever your views on Jesus, it better be like these above if you want to be in the number that worship the Lamb (Jesus). Most that deny Christ are not worth arguing with, they are blaspheming and opposing themselves, they will not listen to reason because you have to twist too many scriptures to teach such strange things, but I am really just posting this for any that might come across these cult teachings you have posted, those that have not read the bible much need to know that there are hundreds of scriptures that declare the Jesus is the Son of God and therefore God. We pray to the Father in Jesus Name becuase only when we accept the Divinity of Jesus do we have access to the Father. Many will pray "God get me out of this mess" and they feel like their prayers rarely get answered, but when they turn to Christ they are saved and God hears. There is no other salvation but faith in Jesus Christ and all those that deny His divinity will be cursed from His presence forever. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. This verse alone should be enough to stop the argument and cause all cult members to repent for ever saying Jesus was not God. But I have even heard cult teachers try and twist this verse. They can't do it, and every attempt exposes that they are not honest truth seekers but that they have some hidden agenda and are willing to go to any means to blaspheme Christ. When this happens you have to shake the dust of your feet and move on. Acts 18:6 And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. I believe that after Paul prooved from the scriptures that Jesus was indeed the Christ, these Jews in this passage said something that amounted to "even if this is the Christ.. We will not follow him" and so Paul knew there was nothing else to say. When a person takes a verse like 1 Timothy 3:16 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. And says.. it does not mean God here when it says God was manifest in the flesh.. he is doing what John warned us about... 2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:10-11 If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting: for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works. So this would be a direct commmandment to not play around with JW cult but be direct with them that unless they repent they will indeed find that hell is real and the flames never cease. |

52 | is matted hair inappropriate for woman | 1 Tim 2:9 | Scribe | 86182
1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; As already mentioned. Think of it in the 1st century AD. They that looked this way stood out way beyond the norm. They would appear more like the wicked women of the Greecian temples and the Rich women who spent their time in sensual pursuits. Today it would be like saying.. Don't cut off have your hair and paint the other half green and pierce your tongue with jewlry becuase you will not appear as one that is full of charity and good works but more like someone who is committed to a more wicked lifestyle. I think your pastor following the same spirit of Paul could say, young women, don't follow the fashion of the day and see how low you can wear your jeans before you expose yourself, and go about showing your stomach for the whole world to gaze at. This is not becoming a woman who's heart is set on Glorifying Christ and leading others to the salvation of the Lord. The pastor might not be popular for saying it and will definitely hear the accusation of legalism, but holiness is not something that has to do with the exact clothing or hair style but what it suggests as it relates to the message we are projecting. Dressing in ways that makes most godly men have to pretend they don't see you is probably in the realm of dressing immodest. When even the world and sinners wreck their cars to stare at you, you might be dressing immodestly. If the lost whisper behind your back, you might be dressing immodest.. (sounding like a Jeff Farley list) The New Testament does not introduce legal laws and rules that have no meaning, the spirit of the commandment is what we follow, the Spirit of the Lord in our heart tells us that Paul is speaking of not being immodest. |

53 | Why was the Holy Spirit delayed? | Acts 8:16 | Scribe | 86180
Acts 8:14-17 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. I don't see any reference to a delay. As you read through the book of Acts after Acts 2 you see several accounts of believers recieving the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues and prophesying. It was poured out initially on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 on the 120 in the Upper Room. Then as they go forth being witnesses in the power of the Holy Ghost they prayed for others and they recieved the Holy Ghost. This happens so often that you can't help but get the idea that this is a pattern for world evangelism. There is no verse that says this would stop when the last book of the bible was written. People like to make up explanations like that to help them understand their own life experiences but if we want to be as biblical as we can we will assume that what we read in Acts can still happen today. |

54 | Warning ! ! ! | 1 Tim 3:16 | Scribe | 86129
Not sure why it was restricted. But fortunately the forumn is moderated, keeping the cult postings restricted is important so that people can get Answers from the Bible in context instead of cults using partial quotes and pages of heresy. Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The Father Son and Holy Ghost are One God and it is not wrong to call that a Trinity. Just like when you speak of Legalism, Legalism is not in the Bible but the concept is and it is ok to speak of a larger concept in shorter words. Jesus made it clear that before Abraham was I AM and it is written that By Jesus Christ all things were created, John says that Jesus is the Word and the Glory of the Father, and that He is was God. John also taught us that if a teacher teaches that Jesus is not God in the Flesh he is an antichrist. So let't hope that this fourum will restrict cult postings so that the Word of God can go forth. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. |

55 | Legalism? | Rom 7:6 | Scribe | 86126
Legalism is not a word found in the Bible that I know of. It is nevertheless a biblical topic. The effort of men to be declared justified by the works of the Law is spoken of at length by Paul. Legalism is a difficult word to define in a short sentence or two, but I will try to do so and then give the scriptures that tell me this. In my opinion and I am sure that I have not fully defined it by saying this: Legalism is that attempt by man to appease his smitten guilty conscious with a religious effort of some type that takes many forms but all have this same objective which is to relieve the conscious even if the relief is only temporary. Isaiah 28:9-13 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. |

56 | Justification? | Rom 2:13 | Scribe | 86124
This might be a helpful insight. First of all Romans 2:13 is speaking of the one that is trying to make his boast in the Law, saying he is righteous because he keeps the Law. In the context Paul is speaking to those that think that because they are Jews and have grown up hearing the law that they are special and accepted by God rather than the gentiles, and Paul tells them it is not the hearing of the Law that would make you just but the doing, in other words, They would have to do the Law before they could make that boast, and they have all failed already so they can't "go there" either. Now as to James, He is not talking about the LAW or the works of the Law. Many have taken up the case of this "seeming" contradictin between James and Paul. Even Luther had a hard time accepting James as canonical because of this. (Which shows how Luther was not always so sharp) All you have to do is look at the context and you see James gave an example of the kind of "works" his is referring to. James 2:16-17 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone... It is not the law he is speaking of but the faith that produces fruit. Or as John the Baptist preached to the Pharisees, "Bring forth fruit meet for repentance" And Paul said.. faith which worketh by love. So Paul and James were always in agreement about true faith, Paul also taught that the TRUE Grace of God teaches something.. and what is that? Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; So just becuase men and yes even "reformers" have had a hard time accepting it, True Faith, and True Grace demands True Repentance that bears fruit, and God will not have it any other way. Even now the axe is laid into the root of the trees, and every plant (that's me and you) that does not bear fruit will be hewn down and thrown in the fire," But such were some of you, now you are justified, and as a result you will be bearing fruit and showing it by your Love works, and if not, examine yourself whether you be in the True faith or just a fasle security of mans making. |

57 | The form of Godliness? | 2 Tim 3:5 | Scribe | 86021
2 Timothy 3:4-5 ...lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Those that may pretend to be religious but in works they deny the Lord. Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. They are those that seem to not comprehend (reprobate) the connection between living holy and knowing God. They pretend they know God and "can" know God while being full of lust seeking fleshly indulgences. |

59 | Can you learn to pray in the Spirit? | 1 Cor 14:15 | Scribe | 85983
1 Corinthians 14:14-15 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Sticking to the Word of God as our final authority, we must declare that praying with the spirit is speaking in tongues. Can you learn to speak in tongues? No Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:6-8 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? The 120 in the upper room did not learn how to speak in tongues, the just started speaking them. Can you also recieve this gift? Yes. Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And that is God's Word on the Subject. This type of praying with the Spirit in tongues all believers can have, but when Paul says "do all speak in tongues" he is referring to the speaking outloud with another with the gift of interpretation in the public church meeting. Not all will do that or should becuase it would be confusion, and so he says if there is no interpreter let him pray to himself and God (in tongues) which means that they all could pray with the spirit in tongues but not all of them should speak outloud as to the whole congregation in tongues at the same time, or without waiting for the interpretation. |

1 Corinthians 7:25-40 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better. The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. Hello Gab, take a look at these scritpures and think about what Paul is saying. Imagine the life of godliness Paul is suggesting. The best think you could do is to continue to devote yourself to the Lord. Pray, study the word and get involved in ministry in your church. If your church does not have an outreach ministry of somekind find an outreach ministry nearby that needs volunteers and help out. As you are busy doing the work of God, witnessing the Gospel, telling people what great things God has done for you in Jesus Christ you will learn many things. One of the things that you will soon be very clear on is that your main goal in life is to serve and please the Lord, everything else comes second including romance. If you love this girl in the Lord you will point her to the same life of adventure, serving God and enjoying eternal things. She will find such a thing attractive if there is any hope at all. If not then don't look back follow hard after Jesus Christ and forsake all from Him. After all that is the only way to be a true christian. Matthew 10:37-38 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. Luke 9:61-62 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. You must remain loving and kind and reach out to her in love as you would any other lost sinner or backslider, but you must follow the Lord. As you are involved in outreach and doing the work of the Lord, living life on the "cutting edge" of the kingdom and not getting bogged down in "false christian religion" then you will find that you are ministering alongside sisters in the Lord that share a like passion for the Lord Jesus Christ with you. First you will be friends treating them as sisters only with all purity, but as God wills it there will be one that he will put you with that will be that person that will serve the Lord with you in Life, where you will both have a passion for serving God and not be a drain on each other like the way Paul speaks about. It is very important to make sure you are very patient allowing God to give you the wife that will not backslide on you or loose her passion for the Lord a year after you are married. That is why meeting her in the work of outreach is so helpful. The kind of wife you want is one that has the same passion for Christ that you have and just going to church does not really tell you much. The one that is burning with the fire of the Holy Spirit is one who is serving the Lord in ministry. God bless you as you seek His Face Daily. |
