41 | Face Value or Not | Gen 1:1 | Scribe | 85893
1 Corinthians 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. They can be taken for face value. As long as we are speaking of the face of the looking glass of scripture and not our own definitions of the words. If we define "keep silence" as the other "keep silence" that has been mentioned just a few verses before concerning men, we understand it means, don't talk when you should not be, not don't talk becuase you are a woman. It has to do with disruption of the service. Not saying anything about the details we do not know about but only sticking to the text itself we have Paul saying to those that speak in tongues to do it two or three in a service and then only if there is an interpreter, if not "KEEP SILENT" in the church and let him speak to himself and to God, then we have Paul saying to those that would give a prophesy.. do so two or three and if one is speaking the other should "KEEP SILENT" then he gets to the women who would ask questions and they are told to "KEEP SILENT" and if the reader is following the flow and logic of the admonition he immediatly understands that it must refer to some type of "confusion" or interuption that was being caused by the asking of questions. Then we understand that the spirit an theology of the rest of the new testament does not "jell" with a rule that would suggest that as soon as women walk in the church they must not utter a sound until they leave does it? Of course not, so we know that it must be about interuptions and confusion which is what the whole chapter deals with. May God Bless You as You Look into the Face of the Mirror of the Word and are Changed Day by Day. |

42 | 24 hour days are based on what? | Gen 1:2 | Scribe | 43470
The statement is made from the first day.. evening and morning were the first day. This is written at a time after the creation by Moses. Just as when Moses stated ... that Cain dwelt in the land of Nod, not that it was called Nod when Cain dwelt in it. It became Nod much much later. But Moses was just identifying the area. Just as if you said my Indian forefathers dwelt in Dallas, not that it was caled Dallas when they were there. So this reference also is from Moses that the evening and the morning were the first day when as yet there was no son or moon. However by making the statment the evening and the morning were the first day he is making it clear beyond all question that it was not ages or eons that is meant but an evening and a morning. May God bless you in your study of His Word. |

44 | Don't be deceived | Gen 2:9 | Scribe | 85676
In my opinion, this verse prooves to me that Satan was perfect in Eden, and then fell. Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezekiel 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. There are those that say that this Eden was not the garden but some other heavenly Eden. And so they reconcile this verse with the idea of a past rebellion before the garden of Eden. Maybe that is so, but I do not read of any such Eden in the scripture, so it is just speculation. Unless someone has hints of it in the scripture somewhere that I have never seen. Untill I hear of a heavenly Eden in the scriptures I have to take it as a reference to the Garden of Eden and a Divinely inspired prophecy concerning satan in that garden before he fell. This would put his fall in the garden and also explain the reference to the mount of God. We do not really know that Eden was near the current Tigris and Euphrates junction before entering into the Persian Gulf. That never made sense to me. The river flowed out of the Garden and parted into four. We keep hearing that the Garde was somewhere in Iraq where the Euphrates and Tigris join. That is oposite the facts. The River flowed out of the Garden and divided into four, not joined into one. So the garden must have been somewhere further North or west from Iraq and the Tigris and Euphrates joining again is inconsequential. Unless we are saying that the river flowed from the gulf norhtward, and that is not that way it works is it? So what am I getting at? It is possible the Jewish tradition that that Adam was formed in the same area of the temple mount is true. It is possible that Jerusalem is the location of the garden of eden, in which case this reference to satan wanting to ascend the sides of the north coincides with the antichrist standing in the holy place in the end times. Something to think about. We often repeat what we were taught (Satan fell eons before the garden in some ancient rebellion) without ever investigating where the teaching comes from. Then when we do we do not find any supporting scriptures except for the garden story. Then we have a choice, keep spouting the party line, or ask the Lord to give us faith and boldness to speak only what the word says and nothing more. And even then we must always allow room for more light not being dogmatic about things that are not clear in scripture. Despite what the "reformers" might say, there are many truths in the scriptures that have not been fully explored and one of the reason is that many are afraid to depart from any preconcieved interpretations even when they feel the check in their spirit that there are not any scriptures to back such an interpretation, or they begin to see a more clear picture than the ancient medieval church and yet they are afraid to add anything to it, being taught that all doctrines have been exhausted and there is nothing new to add. May God Bless You in you Study of His Word. |

45 | why did they feel compelled to cover | Gen 3:7 | Scribe | 42810
Innocense knows no guilt or shame. The point was that to know about evil was never the plan of God. To have knowledge of evil is to know you have done wrong. The idea that to be without clothing was wrong had come into their minds as a result of having done wrong. Not only to be naked but many other things became known to them that they had never been concerned with before. As they go forth into the world they experience such things as being angry and Cain kills his brother. To look at Able and to be wroth was another thing that had been gained by eating the fruit besides that of knowing you were naked.
46 | The priest of Eden? | Gen 3:21 | Scribe | 86456
Never thought of it like that. It is not a bad thought actually. The first sacrifice for sin it, no doubt, must have been, slain as it were, without hands on this first altar made for man the skins, only a shadow of the blood that would cover man before the flood And who is this garden priest of Eden? none other than the Lamb slain predestined. 47 | How does one Master sin? | Gen 4:7 | Scribe | 142295
Romans 6:11-14 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. It is a daily walk. Jesus taught us to pray concerning this day only. Deliver us from temptation. This is the first step, a heart crying out to God through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that His abundant Grace is available to overcome the temptation. By passing through the temptation, without falling, we thereby gain strength over "him" that is the devil and the power of sin which is in our flesh.. this sowing to the spirit day by day will give us a strength that is greater than the temptation, and it then becomes no temptation. However there are so many of these individual battles of the flesh, that we must always fight this war against the various enemies of the "land" and never let our guard down. Praying always and interceding for the saints who also are in this battle with you. May God bless you in this holy war fare and grant you one hill of conquest after the other until you rule and reign with Him in that day for ever and ever. |

48 | How did the people in Nod come to be | Gen 4:16 | Scribe | 50180
I will not attempt to post them all now. But there are many passages like this. Moses is not saying that it was called Nod when Cain dwelt there. Cain called his city Enoch not Nod. Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. But so that the readers of Moses which were much much later than the days of Enoch could get a handle on the geography Moses was speaking about he mentions that this City Cain built was in the area that then in Moses time was called Nod. Cain took a wife, maybe even by force, we don't know, from the camp of Adam, after many centuries Cain populated a large settlement of people through close relationships at first of course. Then as time went on the gene pool gets diversivied. |

I am not following you. It is evident in archaelogical findings that "metal" was worked with before 1500BC. Maybe the use of the word Forged is causing a misunderstanding. I believe that there are more than enough findings of metal that was heated and worked with or beaten into shapes before 1500BC. I don't think you can read more into the word Forged than is there. If we have an idea of such a word being a particular type of system of working with metal that was perfected later, that is not a proper definition of the word forged. The exact methods of how he worked with metal are not give, this word simply means he worked metal into useful things. |

50 | What do the 120 years pertain to? | Gen 6:3 | Scribe | 56033
Neither. It means that God will let men live 120 years longer and then the Flood will come and wipe them all out. It was not a declaration of a lifespan for humans. Also notice that is directly related to the fact that the sons of God (those that were wanting to call themselves by the name of the Lord Gen 4:26) began to corrupt themselves by marrying ungodly women from Cains camp until there were no righteous people left but Noah's family.
51 | how old? | Gen 6:3 | Scribe | 56055
There is no mystery here. God said it would be 120 years that he would let them live. After that he brought the flood. If you read it in context it is obvious. Only when people teach it or quote it in a sermon do people get this idea of it being a declaration of a lifespan of a human. Then once they have that in their minds they read it thay way and when someone says .. read the context and understand that the flood came 120 years later,,.. they are afraid to change their minds becuaes their pastor taught that this was a statement about lifespan and after all.. he is the pastor and he knows more.. etc etc.
52 | Who were the "sons of God" in Gen 6:4? | Gen 6:4 | Scribe | 43653
Yes. Adam was called son of God. Luke 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. The sons of God in Gen 6:4 are those that called themselves by the name of the Lord in Adams Camp. Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. Then in Cains camp they were developing a life that was not focused on God or a hope of redemption. In Adams Camp Enoch was prophesying of the coming of the Lord with 10,000s of his saints and there were men from cains camp that would contend with him. These people in cains camp were the children of men. When the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were attractive and good to look at, and then they began to mix with them. This same sin has been the downfall of the people of God from the beginning and is still happening today. As you read through the Bible you will continue to see this pattern of "truth stream". When Jude speaks of the error of Cain he compares it with the counsel of Balaam. Now we know what Balaam taught. Balaam taught the king Balak to defeat the Israelites by sending the Moabite women in to mix with them. Today satan is still attempting the same strategy against those that keep the testimony of Jesus Christ. Satan will try to get the people of God to get involved romantically with an ungodly person if he can because he knows that in almost every case the godly person will be corrupted, not the ungodly saved. Follow this passage in Gen 6 with these thoughts in mind and you will see it applies much more logically than that of angels and men mixing. Also read the text carefully without looking at it through the filters you may have learned from other men teachings. It does not say that after the sons of god had sex with the daughters of men the babies were giants. It says that there were giants in the land in those days. End of sentence then as a seperate sentence it says when offspring of the sons of god and daughters of men were men of renown. This term means they were like feudal lords. And the violence filled the land as a result of these fuedal lords leading bands of maurading cruel and viscious men of rapine and wickedness. This is the underlying meaning of the words. Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Numbers 16:2 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: See how the same words are used to describe the authority of princes in Israel? The idea is that this next generation of offspring of the children of those men that had corrupted themselves with mixing with the ungodly women became these authoritative rulers over bands or tribes and the violence that resulted is linked to the this statment. So it would be like feudal lords but of a very vicious nature. There may even be the idea of cannabilism here. What about the giants? Well I see that as a seperate statement altogether. Genesis 6:3-5 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. I lean toward this idea. There were giants in the land in those days. Giant, ferns, giant beasts, (dinosaurs), giant men (10 feet) giant dragon flies. A time of many giant things. This is a mention of various giant things. I do not really see Nephilim as necessarily meaning people only, this might have been used to refer to people, "sons of Nephilim" but I think the word is used here to express "giant". |

53 | Searching for the truth | Gen 9:1 | Scribe | 84935
Actually there are two parts to this answer. I will not go into it at length but you have the promise that not every living thing will be destroyed by a flood, as if to specify water. Sometimes it is made much of that water will not be used but fire instead. I do not quite think that is what Peter meant when he said. 2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. The world will melt with a fervent heat and even the atomic elements will be dissolved so the the New Earth promised will indeed be a new earth and not the old one with archaelolgical evidences of the past buried underneath. There is actually something to the rainbow that promises not just that God will not destroy every living thing by water, but that God will not again destroy everything with One particular judgement in one short period of days as in this event here. In the book of Revelation we have what John describes as the visionary presentation of "The Day of the Lord" This is that day spoken of by all the prophets concerning a day of judgement. The same Day that Jesus spoke of that unless "those days" were shortened there would no flesh be saved. There will be outpourings of various, plagues, famines, heat from the sun, stars falling, waters being poisoned and other horrible cataclysmic judgements that the world will acknowledge is from God and not just from God but from the Lamb ...Revelation 6:16-17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?... This period of time that are said to be 7 years and some say maybe more but few say only a 24 day are called the Day of the Lord, it is not a 24 hour day but a short time nevertheless and called the Day of the Lord or the Day of His Wrath. That day that christians are told they are not appointed to. Whatever you believe about How God will keep you from that hour, you have that promise that he will and that it is not your destiny to partake of it. Neverthesless the world will drink from this cup and to the very dregs. The carnage will be horrendous and unimaginable. The "Left Behind" series will seem like a comic book in comparison to the horror of those days. Billions will be slaughtered and it will seem that all men will be destroyed, but in Revelation John sees the throne of judgement set and over this throne the Rainbow appears declaring that as overwhelming as this destruction shall be it will not cut off all flesh from the face of the earth. As you read the book of Revelation you find that the final judging of the nations is completed and the resurrection of both the dead and living have taken place, the wicked have been cast into everlasting lake of fire, when God makes a new heaven and new earth. The fire that destroys the old earth seems to do so after the day of the Lord when men have already been dealt with concerning allegiance to or against the Christ. So the promise stands, not by water or fire will every living thing be destroyed until after they are already judged through the events in Revelation. |

54 | Searching for the truth | Gen 9:11 | Scribe | 85047
As stated in the previous post concerning the rainbow. The promise is that God will not destroy every living thing with one judgement. That is not what happens when the earth is destroyed. The people of earth suffer great judgements of billions under the judgements in revelation. But they do not all get wiped out by anyone particular one or even all of them combined. The earth does not just vaporize one day while people are running about being wicked. The judgments of Revelation are poured out, but many remain alive. They enter into the final judgement after the 1000 year reign with Christ on the earth. After the final destinies of all men are settled and the wicked are removed leaving only those with eternal life does the earth get dissolved.

56 | Was Lot selfish or greedy? | Gen 13:10 | Scribe | 42877
Genesis 13:10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. "And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered" Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise... 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. It seems that the desire in the heart of Lot was that of worldly comfort and ease. It is true that Lot was called righteous but I am sure that he would have been more pleasing to God if he had said " I cannot dwell in the midst of the hellish place and vex my righteous soul, before he went in rather than after he had to come out. And even when see him pleading with God to be allowed to go in to Zoar (which means little) reveals that he still had a little of that desire for worldly comforts. Finally in Zoar he has had enough, he sees things as they are and flees that wicked place. Later his daughter get him so drunk he blacks out, so he still has a way to go. But eventually he has this testimony.. "he was a righteous man." Praise God for forgetting those things which are behind and calling us righteous by faith. |

57 | What was the importance of flies? | Ex 8:21 | Scribe | 85765
It is possible that most of the plagues were a fitting judgement against things the Egyptians in their idolatry held sacred. For instance frogs being sacred to them might have been a message that, that which they worshipped in their idolatry the Lord gave them as their judgment. There has been research done to try and identify an Egyptian God for each of the plagues but I don't think it is that simple. Sort of like an abundance of gold in a famine among those that live their life chasing money would be a fitting judgment. The prophecies speak of a day coming when men will throw out their Gold in the streets because it cannot save them from the wrath that is upon them. |

58 | why pomegranates | Ex 28:35 | Scribe | 64625
This is a good question and one I have asked myself. I do not pretend to have it conclusivly figured out but I will attempt to offer what I think is the most logical and safest application. When I say "safest" I am thinking in terms of standing before the Lord and answering for the doctrine that I taught as one called to teach the Word of God. I know that if my application is in context with the WHOLE body of scripture and in line with certain clearly define "truth patterns" we see in scripture (some call this theology) then I know that I have a clear conscience that I have not used the word deceitfully and that I have done my best to not go beyond what is written while still digging into the treasure of truth that is contained therein. When we see Paul apply certain Levitical Priesthood ordinances and practices to the Gospel and to Christ we can pickup on a certain pattern of application. And in my opinion that pattern is usually one that is the most obvious and clearly seen as a logical application. In this example of the pomegranates, and in comparing all the instance of Paul's mention of the the levitical priesthood, you see him apply things such as the truth of the High Priest being a shadow of Christ and also the priests being a shadow of all saints. Therefore we might attempt an application to Christ, or to saints. In applying it to saints, then we see that there is both a sound of the bells, and a fruit alternately laid on the hem of the garment. I cannot help but think of all the scriptures in the New Testament that emphasis the importance of fruitfulness, and the bells seem to speak of something concerning sweet sounds, or graces, or gifts of the Holy Spirit. So the shadow I see right away with very little research is that of the graces and gifts, and fruit of the Spirit in our lives BEING VISIBLE, and BEING HEARD by those we come in contact with. As we go about our priestly duties of interceding for the saints and being servants the fruit of the Spirit will be seen upon us. |

59 | What are the 10 commandments? | Ex 34:28 | Scribe | 41378
Exodus 34:28 8 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. Deuteronomy 4:13 3 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, [even] ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. Deuteronomy 10:4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me. You know I actually heard a preacher on the radio once that stated "Did you know no where in the Bible does it say there are only Ten commandments. There were many more than that.." etc oooph!!! I am sure he was embarrased after the radio show ;) |
