101 | The form of Godliness? | Jeremiah | Scribe | 86017
2 Timothy 3:4-5 ...lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Those that may pretend to be religious but in works they deny the Lord. Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. They are those that seem to not comprehend (reprobate) the connection between living holy and knowing God. They pretend they know God and "can" know God while being full of lust seeking fleshly indulgences. |

102 | How does the church respond to abuse? | Jer 5:31 | Scribe | 86515
This is a good example of the differences we experience among different denomoniations and groups among those that we call the church. Of all the churches I have fellowshipped with since I was born again, the pastor would have told you to leave and include the law to help protect you and your family, and also provided a place to live while you needed it. Of all the churches that I have belonged to they would have said that this man needed to be born again. We do not believe that a born again saint will abuse his family. A born again man can fall into sin, but will not stay there and must be dealt with as soon as they surface if the man is sincere with the Lord. So it is sad that you experienced such darkness among those that would call themselves saints. I have never known a christian that interpreted the submission scriptures as an excuse to abuse their wives or family. I know it happens but I have never fellowshipped with such people. The churches I have been a part of rightly understood this as a voluntary submission in matters of spiritual leadership and even then the wife's opinion is well respected and decisions are not made without her agreement. Those that belligerantly make important decisions whether the wife agrees or not have always been told in my churches that they were wrong and were misinterpreting the submission scriptures. So you see how I have never seen this as a "big" problem in the church, becuase I have never seen this in the church. If a person fellowships with some denominations and "churches" they will think there is an important need to proove that Homosexuals should not be allowed to preach in the pulpit. When others hear about it they are almost speachless with shock and incredulous wonder that anyone would ever even think it is worth arguing about. If a church is so blind as to argue about that, or to discuss it as a possiblity then they are not the Church at all, they are some group of men that are calling themselves a church but are not even born again. So it is with this question of abuse. Do we really need a movement to convince pastors that they should intervene and help women being abused, and quit telling them to submit to it? No, the true church is shocked that an idiot would suggest such a thing to you. The answer is to find a real church with a real pastor that is really called by God to pastor, a shepherd of the sheep who feeds them the Word of God and is anointed by the Holy Spirit to rightly interpret the word of God. It does not take a theologian to know that you should not submit to abuse. May God Bless You as You Grow in His Word. |

103 | How does the church respond to abuse? | Jer 5:31 | Scribe | 86516
On a follow-up to my previous post, I would also add that I do not say this is not a need to be dealt with by society in general. Certainly it is. There are many organizations that are working hard at exposing this problem and helping women break free from the bondage they are in. What I was addressing in the previous post was that if you get with the right churches you will see that they would be horrified that a pastor would not help you. Should we try and educate that pastor and those churches that hold such views as "that a woman should submit to abuse"? It is a lossing battle. You are putting the cart before the horse. This pastor just needs to get saved. Should we try and argue with someone that says a Practising Homosexual should be allowed to pastor? No! We should give them a gospel tract and stick to the message about salvation, they are not saved that would argue such a thing. They are either reprobate or confused and need to know about how to be saved. There are many churches that have homes and ministries for abused women and will help them with legal, housing, and other needs.
104 | Old Testament Law | Jer 7:23 | Scribe | 41128
There is a surge of cult groups in America today that are what you might call gentiles that are Jewish wannabees. They are trying to mix christianity with Jewish traditions. They believe you should keep feasts and sabbath and spell God's name right and many other such legalistic things. They have scriptures for their teachings but taken from the Law and they pick and choose which ones apply to us today and which ones don't. For instance they will use the description of a feast day that was written at the same time that instructions were given for what a woman should do on her cycle. They will reject the part about the women for today and keep the feast one. This exposes their lack of honesty in really wanting to OBEY God as they say. They also like to learn Hebrew words and I suppose they think that we will speak Hebrew in heaven. Many of the things they say we must do are the very things Paul and the apostles already discussed and decided gentiles did not need to do such as circumcision. What do they do with Paul? They don't like Paul very much. They say listen to Jesus not Paul. This is strange to me since what they are really saying is listen to Matthew not Paul because Jesus wrote no new testament books so their letters in red are from Mark, or John or someone else. So if they were honest they would say "I believe Matthew was inspired but not Paul." But they say go by what Jesus said not Paul, becuase this has a little bit of convincing power to a weak and ignorant mind which they are trying to ensnare. These modern false Jews love to claim Jewish heritage and they have none. There is nothing new about the agenda of the demonic powers behind these Hebrew Roots cults and Name cults. They have this common trait of satisfying a smitten conscience with another sacrifice than that which is provided for sin which is Jesus Christ. They want to do a certain easy to keep legal practice such as church on Saturday and celebrating feast day and addressing God as G-d when they write so that their conscience is appeased and they feel a sense of righteousness. Now this is exposed as flesh because the emphasis is on the flesh impulse to be an elite sort of "christian" that has an inside revelation and that is special to God in that they are the keepers of the special laws when others are not. This is all flesh. It is not faith in God. It is dangerous because it has to deny the teachings of Paul which God chose to lay down so many fundamental doctrinal truths for the christian to live by. It is also dangerous because the spiritual elitism it produces is not the Love of Christ as taught by Paul and they find themselves spending more energy trying to convert Christians to their group than they do the lost to Christ which is always a tell tale sign of a cult. God Bless you ALL |

105 | Where are these names written down? | Jer 17:13 | Scribe | 86237
Man, what an awesome verse of scripture. Thanks for sharing it mommapbs. I noticed that the KJV says it like this... Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters. I was thinking of Jesus writing in the sand while waiting for those without sin to cast the first stone. I like the idea (I know it is only speculation) that Jesus was writing the names of people they had sinned with like in adultery and they saw their names there and were so shocked by his omniescience they left. I think it had to be something like that becuase there are plenty of people who would pick up a stone and hurl it and declare they had never sinned people who are obstinate and beligerant and do not care whether they were lying or not, but something about Jesus writing in the sand made them all convicted. |

106 | How did prince of tyre become satan | Ezek 28:1 | Scribe | 46759
Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. The prophet is speaking of two things. He does address the king of Tyre but as he does he moves from the outward things we see and know such as the political affairs of men and into the spiritual "behind the scences" things, that of the powers of darkness that are using wicked kings for the plans of the prince of darkness. So as satan is called the prince of this world by Jesus Christ our Lord, and as Paul says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness in high places, we understand that the powers of darkness are behind many things even if the men being used do not believe in such things. Remember also the angel Gabriel telling Daniel that he was sent to Daniel 21 days prior but the prince of persis resisted him and then Michael came and helped him. In that passage it is obvious that the prince of Persia he is talking about is not a man, for no man can resist and angel who are greater in power and might, but either satan or a fallen angel of great powers in the spirit realm but not greater than Michael. |

118 | Ephriam synonymous w/ Gentile believers? | Ezek 37:19 | Scribe | 43232
No. Ephraim is the inheritor of His Father Joseph. Remember the story, Manaseh was the oldest but Ephraim inherited the promises. This is speaking of the promise of the Jews being saved. Now we are waiting for that day. When they turn to Jesus Christ as the messaih on a national level, then the Lord will come to Mount Zion.
119 | Please explain Haggai 1:12 (Fear) | Hag 1:12 | Scribe | 86613
ary yare' yaw-ray' a primitive root; to fear; morally, to revere; caus. to frighten:--affright, be (make) afraid, dread(-ful), (put in) fear(-ful, -fully, -ing), (be had in) reverence(-end), X see, terrible (act, -ness, thing). The verse above this concludes a message calling the people to a new attitude toward God. Haggai 1:11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands. Today we would hear many preachers say God did not call the drought, but those that fear the Lord cringe when such a message is preached, because they know the balance of the Holy Spirit, to both Love the Lord and Fear the Lord. We Fear the Lord in reverential fear, but that does not make it anyless awesome of a fear. We still fall on our face before His holiness and tremble. He has shown us His Love by sending us His son and we enter into fellowship with Him and are friends, but woe to the man that takes that lightly and thinks that he can play the harlot with God. He will find that God still calls forth the drought to lead people to repentance if they forget God in prosperity. Fearing God is not a contradiction to Love. It is often said "But I do not want to fear my father, I want to have a love relationship with him." That is true, but if your earthly father was a good father, he could make your stomach turn somersaults if you got caught doing something you knew you were not supposed to be doing. This is because you knew your father loved you enough to discipline you. Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? If more preachers preached the Fear of God as Paul did, there would be fewer backsliders and those that did backslide would be more miserable while they were doing so. The goodness of God leads men to repentance, but the fear of God is part of the goodness of God not something else. |
