21 | Was the Law nailed to the cross? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43640
You asked..."Where does it say the Law was nailed to the cross?" Colossians 2:13-17 And you, being dead in yoursins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. You asked..."Was circumsion ever part of the Law?" Yes Exodus 12:48-49 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. This is why they had to discuss this. There were those that were very persuasive in making the new gentiles converts think they had to follow these instructions in Exodus 12:48-49 If it were not for Acts 15 I guarantee you we would have sects and cults trying desperately to enforce circumsicion on the gentile believer in order to be pleasing to God or "obey" God. But instead we have them doing the very same exact thing with sabbath day law. You asked... "Did circumsion precede the Law?" Yes Genesis 17:13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. This term everlasting convenant would be used by the sabbath keeping cults if it were not for Acts 15. The lesson of Acts 15 was not only about circumcision. Notice what is said.... "Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, AND TO COMMAND THEM TO KEEP THE LAW OF MOSES." .... Fare thee well :) |

22 | Do you obey the NT commandments? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43715
Yes, as Paul said if you knew the meat was offered to an idol and the pagan was observing you tell them no thanks. And preach Christ to them. Do not drink blood. (not that you would be tempted) but if you were a missionary and the natives dumped some goat blood out of the freshly slit throat of a sacrifice and offered you a cup. you should say No thanks. Things strangled, this also belongs to the idolatrous practices and fornication, they were always being expected to partake of the temple prostitutes. The christians were being told to withdraw from these ungodly and wicked idolatrous practices that there fellow gentiles were trying to get them to keep as a matter of thier gentile traditions. So not only were they told they did not have to keep the Law of Moses (Acts 15) but they were told to becareful not to keep the traditions of their idolatrous gentile fathers either. |

23 | you cant answer my question | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 44515
You asked....Question: 1-why is jehovah not mentioned in the bible if that is his name? Ps. 83:18; Isa.12:2 2-Why do churches use the cross when jesus was persacuted on a tree or stake Ac. 5:30; 10:39; Ga. 3:13, and we were also told by the bible to not bare false witness or worship images or idols Isa. 42:8; 1Jo 5:21; Act.17:29; De.18:20-22; Mt.7:15-23? .. First Question ...Question: 1-why is jehovah not mentioned in the bible if that is his name? Ps. 83:18; Isa.12:2 I don't understand the question. Are you asking why the Hebrew word is not Jehovah but the english translation uses Jehovah? Here is a good explanation from Easton Dictionary Jehovah the special and significant name (not merely an appellative title such as Lord [adonai]) by which God revealed himself to the ancient Hebrews (Ex 6:2-3). This name, the Tetragrammaton of the Greeks, was held by the later Jews to be so sacred that it was never pronounced except by the high priest on the great Day of Atonement, when he entered into the most holy place. Whenever this name occurred in the sacred books they pronounced it, as they still do, "Adonai" (i.e., Lord), thus using another word in its stead. The Massorets gave to it the vowel-points appropriate to this word. This Jewish practice was founded on a false interpretation of Le 24:16. The meaning of the word appears from Ex 3:14 to be "the unchanging, eternal, self-existent God," the "I am that I am," a convenant-keeping God. (Comp. Mal 3:6; Ho 12:5; Re 1:4,8.) The Hebrew name "Jehovah" is generally translated in the Authorized Version (and the Revised Version has not departed from this rule) by the word LORD printed in small capitals, to distinguish it from the rendering of the Hebrew Adonai and the Greek Kurios, which are also rendered Lord, but printed in the usual type. The Hebrew word is translated "Jehovah" only in Ex 6:3; Ps 83:18; Isa 12:2; 26:4, and in the compound names mentioned below. It is worthy of notice that this name is never used in the LXX., the Samaritan Pentateuch, the Apocrypha, or in the New Testament. It is found, however, on the "Moabite stone" (q.v.), and consequently it must have been in the days of Mesba so commonly pronounced by the Hebrews as to be familiar to their heathen neighbours. 2-Why do churches use the cross when jesus was persacuted on a tree or stake It is true that trees were used to nail cross beams to outside of the city of jerusalem, but not exclusicely,so that the truth is that both constructed crosses and trees were used to nail a malefactor up. Also archealogogical evidence of the bones of criminal graves proove that they did actually nail through the hands and feet and not the wrist as has been commonly taught by many that thought the bible said hands but meant wrists. These teachers kept trying to stop and explain that the bible means wrists when it says hands here.. and now we find out.. no.. it meant hands. Go figure :) They would use the horizontal cross beam and nail it the vertical trunk of a tree, but they would also use vertical cross pieces in the ground, and either way it was common to refer to it as a tree, especially since the idea was that of the wood of the cross coming from a tree. I mean they were not using lumber mills here. They could take two suitible portions of tree branches strong enough and form a cross and calling it crucifixion on a tree would fit just fine. 3 and we were also told by the bible to not bare false witness or worship images or idols I am not sure what you are asking here. Bearing false witness is when someone says something about someone else that is not true, as in a court or examination to apply justice to a situation. Or you could even apply it to lying. Idols and images are pretty obvious. Were you wondering why groups like catholics use statues in their churches and pray before them to various saints and Mary? I think they will tell you (not being a catholic) that they do not believe it is idolatry because they are just praying to the saint in heaven and using the statue to "help their faith". I think it is idolatry to pray to a saint in heaven which would make the statue a mute point. But many catholics don't really read the Bible (it is not considered a necessity to faith to them) and so they do many such things. Or are you talking about christians that like to display crosses such as on jewlry. . |

24 | Concerning Does God foreordain murder | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 45195
This is the kind of error and quagmire of mental loops that a person will fall into in trying to intellectually understand God's ability to know all things. I have never felt compelled to figure out why God who knows all things would allow me to be born since he knew ahead of time how much I would grieve his heart with sin. I suppose it could be compared to the love a parent has toward a handicapped child in the womb. The parent is told they could avoid much heart ache if they abort and they choose for love of their child to give birth anyway. I am just glad God chose to allow me to be born that I might know Him and love Him by His Grace. Do I believe in predestination. Of Course the bible is full of references to being predestinated. Do I believe some are destined to hell. No not one. All are destined to be saved but they must enter into that destiny by faith. No man will have an excuse in Judgment becuase all CAN be saved if they will have faith. This is obvious in reading the bible but once you go to seminary or sit under a heavily Calvinistic teaching you can begin to THINK you see it another way in the Bible but this is becuase you are reading the bible through these man taught filters rather than using common sense in the reading of the context. As to picketing abortion clinics. I understand your point, however I do not think the preaching of the Gospel is accomplished by protests and picketing. I have never been impressed by the spiritual depth of those I have met who were abortion clinic protestors. I know that history tells us that there were public fornication encouraged in Roman times that goes far beyond the strip clubs of modern times and yet we do not see any of the disciples protesting these places. The Preaching of the Gospel will affect the hearts of men and they will change. The abortion issue is dealt with by seeing people get born again, not by protesting abortion. Should we make it illegal? Yes, but I think it will be made illegal faster by scientific discussion and legislative debate using sound wisdom and logic and the militant protesting of the clinics only serves to give the abortionists an arguement for protecting society against religious fanatacism run amuck. So that an element of fear is unleashed and discussion is hindered in legislative bodies because of the fear of allowing uneducated unscientific religious superstitions to keep a society in bondage. This kind of fear has credence because of the history of Roman Catholicsm and other religious man made systems that would not let the people learn and progress in human development. If the appearance of militant fanatacism raises it's head then intelligent dialogue is stifled. Therefore whereas irrefutable scientific evidence that would have had a great effect in changing the minds of men in a legislative debate never gets presented because a news story ran the night before showing fanatics chaining themselves to clinic doors. If the christian would present himself as having something intelligent to say rather than acting out in untempered emotional fanaticism then he may end up convincing more people than he realizes. |

25 | How do I study Revelations? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 45404
I suggest Joseph A Siess "The Apocalypse" It is a Zondervan Classic written in the 1800's and full of scholarly workmanship. He qoutes many resources and brings out many scriptures to compare the visions of Revelation with like phrases and visions in the Old Testament. The big picture truth streams he follows is in line with the Whole Bible and you will bear witness to the truth of many of the applications. I do not think you will agree 100 percent with any book on eschatalogy, however this one will go a long way in helping to follow a pattern of letting the bible interpret itself with no outside sources necessary. As a matter of fact as soon as you see how Seiss uses other passages of the Bible to bring out the truths in the first few chapters of Revelation you could quit reading the book and find the answers yourself by continueing to compare scripture with scripture. It does requir having a handle on doctrine as believed by the early disciples and even the Jews of godly understanding concerning the promises they held so dear such as The Kingdom to come, inheritance of the earth to the godly, a coming man of sin, resurrection of the dead, judgement to come, and other important fundamental doctrines. Without understanding what they believed on these truths you will not see the big picture revealed in Revelation. |

26 | after death, right then, what? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 46816
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. If the dead in christ rise... and yet they come with Him when he comes,.. you have them both coming with him and their bodies rising.. The fact that their body rises does not mean thier spirit is in the underparts of the earth, it means their bodies are raised. Their spirit is with Christ from the time their bodies fell asleep and when Christ comes their spirit comes down with Him and their bodies are raised so that they are reunited with glorified bodies. also remeber Paul said.... Philippians 1:21-23 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Now if departing this life was not being with Christ as Paul said then it would not be far better. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. If being conscious here is to be absent from the Lord, then being unconscious in sleep would be even more absent from the Lord, so that we would not long to depart and be with the Lord if indeed departing was not being with the Lord. May God Bless you in your study of His word. |

27 | Are God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit one? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 53838
People have been trying to figure out how to explain the Godhead since Jesus was born of a virgin. However you cannot completely explain it that way. The Bible does reveal that the Son of God will be present in eternity seperately from the Father God. One example is when Jesus takes the scroll from the hand of the One on the Throne in Revelation 4 The One on the throne is seen as a great glorious light with no image we can form and say this is what God looks like., The Son of God is seen as a Lamb slain which is not meant to say Jesus will look like a lamb but a symbolic form is seen here. The Fact that God choose to send His Son and Call Him Jesus should be enough for us. If we believe on Him we will get to heaven and there we might understand the fulness of the Godhead, until know it is a mystery we are to take by faith, but not "blind" faith, but faith in what He has done for us. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. |

28 | Dake's Annotated Bible | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 54071
Thank you all for your response to my question. Well it has been a couple of weeks and I can say I am well pleased with the purchase. First of all I got a brand new genuine leather edition (109.00 retail) for 25.00 so that made me feel good. And of course as to the most important part the study of the Word it has been much fun. I doubt there has been a man born (other than the writers of scripture and Jesus Christ) that I would agree with 100percent of the time. Goodness sake I don't even agree with my wife 100percent of the time :) (shhhh, don't tell her!) However as someone here stated so well, Dake's notes are so extensive and reference so many other verses that they beat out my other chain reference type bibles. I also agree with the one who stated that Dake will coment or give verses on subjects that others ignore. I did not get it to help me understand the Bible, I rely on the Holy Spirit only for that, but I do like the spirit of which Dake seems to also believe that the Holy Spirit can lead you in the understanding of the Word even if the common view of the local seminary is otherwise. What I enjoy most so far about the Dakes is way it helps you probe the verses and think about them for longer periods of time than you might be used to doing. This is most useful when enduring a sermon from less thought provoking preachers, you can study the Bible while they drone on for two hours. Just kidding. (not really) I understand the concern about some of Dake's views but most of the notes seem to agree with most fundamental theology. Of course those that adhere to pre election extremes will stop reading this study Bible since Dake does such a fine job of bringing out more scriptures on the subject to refute such a view. And I would think those that break out in rage at the mention of tongues would also hate the work since Dake brings out scriptures to proove that the context mentions nothing about God ceasing to give this gift to believers before the perfect day arrives. It is a shame that we reject a huge volume of work over one area we don't agree with. If we expect to be treated as we treat others then we should expect others to reject all we speak about to them about the Lord over one area they do not agree with. I think reading Calvin is profitable (though I doubt I will get through all his works in my life time) however I do not agree with his super intellectual explanations of God thought up by his own mind and not backed up with enough scripture, howbeit much of his writings are very insightful in bringing out the text as it is written that is when he does not go beyond what Paul wrote or others. This inablility to agree with all that Calvin wrote does not make me say he was a false prophet or say his works should not be read or burned or what have you. As a matter of fact I have learned that those that seem to recieve the most vehement persecution from the established denominations might possibly contain some kernels of truth that the modern laodecian church needs to hear. It is amazing how much persecution a preacher of repentance will recieve and how much praise a preacher of prosperity recieves. I will side with the preacher of repentance any day. If Dake's notes incurr such a hostile response I wonder if maybe he had some really life changing truths to bring out and the devil would have us not read them. May God Bless you in your study of His Word. |

29 | Code to the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 54835
I think you might find this documentation by going through the Brother who runs the Creation Science Museum in Glen Rose Texas. I cannot remember his name but a search on google.com using creation science and Glen Rose Texas ought to get you there. He has attempted to explain the math behind the code. Also he has a show on TBN and he had the author of the book on his show and they said that they had research publications on how they used shakespeare and many classics and could not do the same thing.
30 | can women be pastors | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 54837
I will answer this question with a question. What if a woman was in a remote village in Afghanistan. Let's assume she is just being a normal christian and witnessing to the lost. Over a period of time many women and children are saved under her ministry. Then in order to obey the Word and assemble in fellowship they gather and there are no men yet that have joined them. They are the church, they are a local assembly and she is operating in the office of shepherd. So when there is a need for a woman to obey God in faith she must regardless of what denominations say she should do. |

31 | adulterous spouse than get remarried ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 55051
You have probably heard this before, but it has been said that the act of having sex with another person besides your spouse kills the covenant on your part. This is a mystery and demonstrates the spiritual nature of marraige. Now that being said it has to do with an act of betrayel and the spouse has the right to divorce in that case. However if the couple split for the more common reasons of arguing then they are still in that spiritual covenant as far as God sees it and in the invisible realm there is a bond that you do not see but God sees, so if one or the other remarries and engages in sex there is a crime commited in the spiritual realm of God's moral law and this is a mystery but there are many injustices that go on that we do not understand in the invisible realm. When God says he heard the blood of some crying to him from the ground it is not poetic language but a spiritual reality that we do not hear. Now that being said. If a man commits pornographic additction on the internet, it is not a light thing. Huge and horrible autrosities agains his wife are being committed by him in the spiritual realm and demons are flooding his home like a break in a dam. If he does not take it as a matter of life and death he will lose his wife as sure as if he had committed whoredom with a prostitute which of course is what he is doing in the heart. I could say much more about this hideous plague that is the number one sin in the church today. Just remember that the sin of internet porn is as bad or worse than anything Sodom and Gommorah were doing and this cup of abomination is being drunk by many nations as it has gone out from America first and most often and now infects the whole world. This wickedness is a spark of iniquity that will bring the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience and bring upon their heads swift destruction. It is the full cup of the gentiles (as was the cup of the amorites) that is going to cause God to rise up in indignation and wrath and say "I have born long with you but you will sin yet more and more and now even the pastors and those that should be preaching the word are sitting in their offices and homes drinking in the filth of whoredoms and their eyes are full of adultery and they cannot cease from sin" Oh my brethren that read this post may we repent as a dying man ready to meet God tomorrow and if we are allowed to stay here by the grace of God let us help our brothers get free from this hideous web so prophetically named. |

32 | What is the purpose of the anointing? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85064
Maybe we should start with what it is not. (Part 1 of 2) The anointing is NOT... when you get a chill down your spine. The anointing is NOT... the volume of your voice when you preach, neither is it the gyrating and shaking of your body in a convulsive manner as if electric jolts have been administered to you with an unseen stun gun. The anointing is NOT... a mystical invisible cloud that floats around in the congregation, a forth person of the godhead, whose job it is to make people hoop and holler with laughter when it brushes by them. The anointing is NOT about a feeling, that sometimes you have when you are preaching something exceptionally enlightening from the scriptures and other times has left you on your own if you are having to suffer through a teaching on New Testament culture at the time of Christ on the various pottery produced to assist your audience in archaeological digs in and about the city of Bethlehem. If we look at the New Testament meaning of this word, (assuming that the use of the word in the New Testament will give insight into the shadow meaning of any oils and anointing in the priestly service) we find these scriptures to be somewhat cornerstones of doctrinal truths concerning the idea of Holy Spirit anointing. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. These all tell us that the Anointing that we speak of when we speak of a preacher being Anointed is that of a call and an equipping by God through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not leave the preacher, (or saint for we are all called to be anointed) the anointed abides with us John says. It does not come and go. (part 2 continued on next post) |

33 | What is the purpose of the anointing? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85066
(Part 2 of 2) We are not anointed in one message about the resurrection and not anointed in another message about the genealogies. We are anointed by the Holy Spirit as a result of our salvation and call. The gifts and callings of God are without repentance. We will be anointed to preach the gospel when we go to sleep tonight, and anointed when we wake up. The anointing abides with us. You might feel joy when you contemplate the glories of the world to come, but it is not because you are now anointed, and before you weren't. Truly brethren we are either anointed or we aren't. Called or not. Saved or not. Now we are filled with the Holy Spirit and called and anointed. And we will remain so. The truth that we are anointed is the same as saying we go "in the name of Jesus Christ" We preach in his name because we are anointed. We baptize in His Name because it is He that gives us the authority to baptize because we are anointed by the Holy Spirit to do so. I may not feel very well today as I type this, I may not feel any desire to leap about and shout as some men do, nevertheless I am anointed, the anointing abides in me, and is not subject to my bodily infirmities. There are times that we may be filled with the Holy Spirit in the sense that our inner man is strengthened and emboldened and our faith made strong and we receive power to witness and do ministry that is empowered by the Holy Spirit and not by our own ambitions, and these times are extra ordinary, more than the normal infillings of the Spirit of God to do service. As we see in Acts when Peter must make a confession before his accusers, it says that Peter... being filled with the Holy Ghost... spake, not as though he did not have the Holy Spirit before, but there are times when the Lord gives us an outpouring of His Spirit when we need it to do His will. I do not call this the anointing though such an association is common in today's church, and technically it may include the fact that we are anointed. I call it "being filled with the Holy Spirit." The danger of calling feelings "the anointing" is that you will see all sorts of fleshly demonstrations being called the anointing. I fear God when I hear such things and cringe to hear it. I would be careful not to use the term anointing as it relates to being filled with the Holy Spirit for service unless you are preaching Jesus Christ. We know that the Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus Christ, that it brings to remembrance the word of God, but we do not want to accuse the Holy Spirit of doing some of the things we see demonstrated in services today. I heard a preacher speaking about a particular non-canonical story about simon the man who was compelled to carry the cross, the story is not considered authentic by most and never was taken very serious, more likely a spurious story that once circulated as many such stories sprang up in the ages preceding Christ. The preacher in teaching this extra biblical record, said he felt the anointing coming upon him. This is the kind of error that associating the "anointing" with feelings produces. What if the story is not even true, as most agree, then he is stating that God is confirming the extra biblical doubtful record and accusing God of confirming a lie. It is dangerous for us to presumptuously say that this is the Holy Spirit. That is what is meant when someone says.. I am being anointed to teach this. If it is the Holy Spirit, He will testify of Jesus and confirm the Word of God not the traditional stories or other such doubtful records. I have gone on long enough. I hope this has been helpful and confirmed in you what many already suspected concerning the modern use of the world anointing. May God Bless You as You Study His Word. |

34 | No, the dead are still DEAD...not alive! | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85472
Mark 12:26-27 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 1 Peter 3:18-19 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. Mark 9:4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. Seems to me that Elijah was taken to heaven and appears on the Mount which means all that time he has been conscious. Where are the saint of old now? The legal requirments were met in Christ and they ascended up with Him. |

35 | What is truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 86218
Bible Truth Follows. John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth. Revelation 5:8-14 And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, and madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests; and they reign upon earth. And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might and honor, and glory, and blessing. And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things are in them, heard I saying, Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever. And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped. Whatever your views on Jesus, it better be like these above if you want to be in the number that worship the Lamb (Jesus). Most that deny Christ are not worth arguing with, they are blaspheming and opposing themselves, they will not listen to reason because you have to twist too many scriptures to teach such strange things, but I am really just posting this for any that might come across these cult teachings you have posted, those that have not read the bible much need to know that there are hundreds of scriptures that declare the Jesus is the Son of God and therefore God. We pray to the Father in Jesus Name becuase only when we accept the Divinity of Jesus do we have access to the Father. Many will pray "God get me out of this mess" and they feel like their prayers rarely get answered, but when they turn to Christ they are saved and God hears. There is no other salvation but faith in Jesus Christ and all those that deny His divinity will be cursed from His presence forever. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. This verse alone should be enough to stop the argument and cause all cult members to repent for ever saying Jesus was not God. But I have even heard cult teachers try and twist this verse. They can't do it, and every attempt exposes that they are not honest truth seekers but that they have some hidden agenda and are willing to go to any means to blaspheme Christ. When this happens you have to shake the dust of your feet and move on. Acts 18:6 And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. I believe that after Paul prooved from the scriptures that Jesus was indeed the Christ, these Jews in this passage said something that amounted to "even if this is the Christ.. We will not follow him" and so Paul knew there was nothing else to say. When a person takes a verse like 1 Timothy 3:16 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. And says.. it does not mean God here when it says God was manifest in the flesh.. he is doing what John warned us about... 2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:10-11 If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting: for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works. So this would be a direct commmandment to not play around with JW cult but be direct with them that unless they repent they will indeed find that hell is real and the flames never cease. |

36 | WHO SAW THE H.S. AT JESUS BAPTISIM | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 39504
When I read it I see it as visible to all. The voice from heaven was heard by all and so there is no reason to "guess" at an illogical thought that only John saw the 'dove'. If I write such an account and do not tell you otherwise you are going to think I am saying that the dove was seen by all that were within eyesight. If I meant anything else I would be careful to make sure you knew with words such as "but no one else saw it but John" this is becuase we understand that that would be something that would need to be explained, however saying and "everyone saw it" is not necessary because we would expect that everyone saw it.
37 | The Ordination of Women | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43046
This is one area where understanding early New Testament culture is important. Also reading the context of the scriptures. The true doctrine is that women should be under authority but they can preach and teach only they should be under authority of spiritual men. Also there is not a lot of scriptural backing for the idea of ordination anyway. I mean if leaders lay hands on her and send he forth after they have all prayed and heard from God then that is scriptural. But formal ordination and letters and licenses are man made and never were commanded by God. Those are attempt of men to control other preachers threatening them with removal of office if they do not agree with their doctrines. If she is called by God she will have a peaceful heart and walk in Love and in a spirit of gentleness, obey God. She will do the will of God and preach what He tells her to, to whom He tells her to, while the carnal argue over whether she should or not. And while they are arguing about it, she will be winning souls and laying up treasure in heaven. Tell her to join a charismatic church or a non-denominational church, they welcome women and recognize that God uses women just like men. The one thing she must not do is strive with men about it. If God has called her to preach, she will do so, and no man will be able to stop her, howbeit she should not say this, but rather just do it. God Bless You in your Study of His Word You can read in many commentaries how the women were asking questions out of order and that was why Paul said they should ask their husbands at home. And in the church a woman should not have authority over a man. So I think that rules out single women pastoring. But not entirely. What I mean is that a missionary woman will often operate in the office of a pastor until a man is appointed. There were women judges in Israel and there will be women that God chooses today. The main thing is the heart that has faith in God. Whether it be woman , man or child, if an individual exercises faith in God He will move heaven and earth to show himself mighty on thier behalf. The thing that amazes me is how certain denominations made by men will create laws for new testament saints and forget about the spirit of the message. You would think that after reading the New testament they would get it. That there are no such "laws" for New testament saints. We walk in holiness that is greater than anything the OT saints new, and we do it without a list of rules. We do it by fellowship with God. The truth will set her free. |

38 | How can I know GOD? | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 85471
Dewey, it is this simple. God is Holy and perfect. Man has sinned, God cannot just overlook our sins, so God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to take the punishment for sin that we all deserve. The punishment for sin is death. Jesus died for you. But Jesus being sinless did not stay dead. Death had no legal right over Jesus becuase he had never sinned. So Jesus rose from the Dead three days later. Jesus is Alive right now. God (who cannot lie) promises us that we can be born again in our spirit and know God. As "New Creature" has posted scriptures, there are many such promises in the Bible. These are not just words in a book. They are the words of God who cannot lie. You are required to take the first step of faith and believe that God mean what he said. He said if anyone will come to him he will not cast him out. Anyone. Are you an anyone? Then you qualify. Just pray something like this. "Lord I believe in you and your Son Jesus Christ. I am sincerely sorry for my sins, and ask you to forgive me of all unrighteousness. I know I do not deserve your mercy but I know that you cannot lie and that you sent your Son to pay the price for me so that I could be saved. Lord I give you my life and will live for you with my whole heart the rest of my life." If you pray something like that, (and the wording is not important, but the heart of faith and repentance is what God accepts), then you are promised to have eternal life and know God. May God bless you daily as you read the Bible and grow daily in His image. The next step is to find a local church in your area and asked to be baptized in water as an act of faith in what Christ has done for you. |

40 | Was Eve the first female | Genesis | Scribe | 51758
Gen 2 reviews what has already been stated in Gen 1. God is giving us more details. For instance in Gen 2 he mentions bringing forth animals from the ground, not as if he brought them from the ground then after he made Adam, but he is saying by this mention of bringing them from the ground that "the animals he brought forth from the ground before he made man, he did it for the purpose of man, and he brought these animals before adam to let him name them. Some get confused thinking that God brought the animals from the ground after he made man, and yet Gen 1 tells us what order he did it. Gen 2 is not telling us the order, the order was already given with exact day number. The purpose of Gen 2 is not order but the "why" So he is saying.. the animals God brought from the ground in Gen 1 he made to pass before adam to see what he would name them. Same for the verse about Eve. He is saying The woman that God made in Gen 1 this is how it happened... First, God brought all the animals he had made out of the ground before he made man and made them to pass before him, but that did not work, so then he put man to sleep , and made the woman, that was the ticket. Gen 2 is more detail about Gen 1. The bible is full of these by the way. Personally I do not think Eve added to the words of God when she said, "neither shall ye touch it." I think God really did say that, it was not recorded in the first mention when God said don't eat it. But the woman is giving us more detail about what God said. This is also seen in Pauls mention of his Damscus Rd experience, where when it is mentioned in Acts the first time certain words of Christ are given, and later when Paul is testifying Pauls says more words that Christ said that are not in the first mention. This is not becuase Paul was adding to what Jesus said, it is just another mention of the event giving us more details. And if it be the case with Paul what right do we have to say Eve was adding to God's word when she said "neither shall you touch it." I think God did say that and it fits with many other scriptures, touch not the uncleand thing. |
