381 | I'm confused about salvation | Matt 19:9 | justme | 115141
JanunMas: Itook the time to read all the dialogue between you and Tortoise, so I might better answer you. First let me say I wrote this response in June 2002 which is almost two years ago. However, my response is still the same as it was back then. In reading your dialoge it seems so very well defined and cut right to the letter of the "law". I have no problem calling a sin a sin. Neither does our Lord or His Word. Ask yourself how does God forgive sin? Is there a different way to forgive using foul language, from that of greediness? How does one seek God's forgiveness for a sexual sin compaired to cheating on your taxes? Is not all sin forgiven in the same way? Is there any sin other than rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord, that is unforgivable? I ask again how is all sin forgiven? One example of a person who broke all of God's laws was King David. He was a down right rotten person for the wrongs he did. Would you not agree? Yet he repented and God who is rich and Mercy and Love and forgivness, brought David back into His fellowship. God said David was a man after His heart. If God can restore David, who am I to judge someone as being in a continual state of sin afte God has pardoned them? Friend either 1 John means what it says or it needs to be removed from Scripture! Would you not agree? I have found in my years as pastor and counselor that many selfrightious Christians who are so stuck on being a watch gaurd for divorced people's sin, have found themselves in a simular situation down the road of time. I have found divorced Christians are often treated with contempt, and as if they are second class Christians. How does this show love, forgiveness or acceptance? My choice has been to continue to point people to Christ and His love, and let the Holy Father deal with others sin. I have plenty of areas of my life that the Lord is still working with and I do not have time to look for the splinters in others eyes. After praying and seeking the Lord's counsel, I would enjoy hering from you on your response. Blessings. justme |

Rat:-) God bless you dear brother. If ( and I am sure it is) chemo is worse than radition was for me, you need our prayers. Be assured I will lift you up before the Lord. I pray for you to be in the direct will of the Lord. I prayed this and had great peace in letting the Lord be totally in control. I pray this for you, Ray. Blessings. justme |

bumpas5: Lest I fail to recall correctly, when in a court of law we are asked to "so help me God". The President and members of Congres are sworn into office with their hand on the Bible. Do these instances count? Personally I could offer more examples if you need more. Blessings. justme |

384 | Can God die? | John 3:16 | justme | 112155
Norm: Thank you for your response. I am left wondering when did Jesus become God in the flesh then? How with what you said do you reconcile Col. chapter 1. ? Would you say that Jesus was sinless His entire life on earth? Do you believe in the virgin birth of Jesus? Thank's for the dialogue. justme |

385 | Is not Jesus the Almighty? | John 3:16 | justme | 112150
The Final SQL: You said "Jesus was not born God." I am attempting to understand what you mean. Would it not be the case that Jesus existed before the creation of the world? As I understand Col. chapter 1 Jesus was there before anything existed, and He created everything. Scripture in Matthew says quite clearly that Mary, Elizabeth, and John in Elizabeth's womb knew this was God in human flesh. I am confused about your statement, would you mind explaining what you ment by your agreement statement? Thank you. justme |

387 | will we go thru the tribulation | Rev 3:10 | justme | 110641
uniqueone: May I suggest you read Matthew Chapter 24. Jesus stressed we are to be ready. As I read what Jesus said I can see no reason to think we won't. However, if percgance we don't so much the better, the key point is to be ready. What do you think after reading Matthew chapter 24? justme
388 | addicted to porn-help | 2 Timothy | justme | 109588
hnsq: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! You have made an important step by openly owning up to your addiction to this very addictive sin. This is satans best he can offer to keep you in his control. I am sure there is shame and anger within yourself, and there is no need to make you feel worse than you already do. May I suggest to you that you may well be addicted to this for the rest of your life if you don't deal with it now. If you are married it is paper sex outside of marriage and many of wives have left their husband because of this deceptive adulterious behavior. This is adultery as Jesus stated it. May I encourage you to get some Christian counseling ASAP. Unless you become accountable to a brother in Christ who is trained in addictive behavior I doubt you will overcome this sin. Drinking, gambling, smoking, and sexual addictions are all money making business's for the sleezballs of the devil. Unfortunately, you have been trapped by the devil and his very seductive traps. One step is to make your life so changed from your present enviorment and pattern of living. It sounds like you have to much time alone, and you are in a traffic pattern that exposes yourself to easy avaliability to either view, or purchase porn. Go out of your way to avoid such exposure! Completly protect your self from any chance to be tempted to follow your old ways. These are some basic steps until you can get some help. There are sexual addiction Christian support groups. You may want to call several churches to find one. Most generaly these grops I would think are kept confidential so you can rebuild your life without doing more damage to your family. This is an addiction that will destroy your faith and you will loose all self respect, and freinds and family. Really no one on this forum can offer any more advice as this forum is not intended to give out advice on how to deal with such addiction. Please seek help at once. justme |

389 | What exactly is this Unforgivable Sin? | Matt 12:32 | justme | 109433
Rowdy: Greetings once again. There is only ONE sin that can not be unforgiven. That sin is rejecting the Holy Spirit's plea to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior. If one rejects the Holy Spirit in the plea for accepting Jesus Christ then that is not forgive. I am deeply sad to say this is seen more often than people coming to Christ. Yes there is nothing worse than this sin, because all other sin can be forgiven but not rejecting Jesus Christ. Rowdy Have you made Jesus Christ your Lord yet? I would like to hear from you. Blessings. justme |

390 | About Premillenialism... | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 109431
Rowdy: I read the thread on your question, and the follow ups. I know it's a little past when you posted the note but I would like to give you a thought or two. I read Matthew chapters 24-26, and I for the life of me can not understand how messed up some people are on the end times. If Jesus gave us very clear things to notice and follow there is no excuse for thinking outside His words. By this I openly reject "the Left behind" mind set theology! I think you have a good way of calling into question end time study that does not line itself with what Jesus said. Blessings. justme |

391 | differences in bible translations? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 109331
bcollier:I noticed you are fairly new to the Study Bible Forum, and we welcome you. You asked a good question. I see you have had a few answers already. May I add something? (you really have no choice) The NIV is quite reliable and well translated. The NIV is a dynamic equalivenant translation. The idea is to translate the thought into English as accurately as possible. So the NIV does not attempt to makea word for word translation, but rather to get the most accurate thought as it was and able to be put into English wich is not an easy task. Literal translations like the NASB, KJV, and several others, attempt to translate word for word what is in the orignal languages. This is not always possible and it can be done but even at best sometimes equalivenant words must be used. So there is no 100 percent perfectly translated word for word translation. One would have to know Greek and Hebrew to get it exact. However the NASB the KJV and others do an excllent job. I prefer the NASB updated Translation myself. I use the NIV sis by side when studing. The word differences are not critical, as they are convaying the same meaning. An interesting point is the KJV of 1611 took almost a century before it was accepted by clergy and reading people. There are many who use the KJV today. I find the English rather hard to understand as many word meanings have changed over the nearly last 400 years. Gay is altogether different today as back in 1611 just to name one instance. This subject has been one I have enjoyed studying about for more than 40 years, and I learn something new quite often. What are your thoughts about what's been said so far? justme |

392 | IS THE GIFTS OF TONGUES AND HEALINGS FOR | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 109328
foreverfaithful: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Your name is a worthy calling, for everyone. There are really only two possibilities to answer your question. Yes or no. There are many who would say no without a doubt, and defend their position with great vigor. I fall into the catagory that says, yes but with cauition. I have seem tongues rarely spoken according to Scripture only once in my life. I am 58, and that's a good length of time. Healing by someone on a stage attempting to "heal" I consider a lie from hell itself! I have been very ill many times, and near to death several times. I can testify to the Lords healing in my life. I have been anointed with oil, and confessed sin, and Elders prayed over me with hands on me. Only this summer I have undergone treatment for cancer. Do I believe in healing according to Scripture, yes because I have experienced it first hand. However May i remind you, any healing is only tempoary, as we all will die and if we have made Jesus Lord we will be with Him forever. The latter being much more to be desired. Blessings. justme |

393 | Matthew talked about JC as a Jew - why? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 108707
Mastery: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum: May I suggest that it would be better if we refered To Gods Son as Jesus Christ. There is something less than respectful in calling Jesus Christ as "J C". I know you are new and just thought you would want to know. Blessings to you. justme |

394 | why did Hosea marry prostitute | Hos 1:1 | justme | 108704
Grahame: This question has been visited by many Bible students for centuries. There are two main thoughts. First is that God told Hosea to marry Gomer, who God forenew Gomer would become a prostitute. Second that Hosea looked for a prostitute to marry. For me I believe the first answer is correct because Hosea was forbidden to marry any woman who was not a virgin, by the law. God would not require Hosea to brake the Law to do Gods will. As I said these are the two main thoughts. What do you think? Blessings. justme |

395 | Searching for the truth | Genesis | justme | 108663
The we refers to The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The trinity, three in one. I know amny have a neat way to attempt to eaplain the trinity, but in reality I don't think anyone can fully undersatnd the God head. I accept my limited capacity, and trust the Father to give us wisdom to undersatnd at whatever point He chooses to allow me to undersatnd. What do you think. justme |

396 | how to take a verse literally or not? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 108649
checho: Rarely will you run into having to decide if a verse is to be taken literally or as a statement of that paticular culture at that time. I say rarely but thers aee some. For instance a woman should not talk in church is one of those. Women were uneducated and ignorant, not by their choice either. Today we have very educated women who often have seminary and a Doctorate of ministry. I think a good study Bible such as the NASB Study Bible or the NIV Study Bible might be a good start to understand these verses better. What do you think? justme |

Mark705: The Open Bible published by Nelson mass produced the NASB in 1978-1979. There are a few Bible Book stores that have some still in the box. There are some Bible book stores that have used ones as well. Don't limit your search to just Christian book stores. Mant used book stores have lots of Bibles. I have at times found very expensive calf skin Bibles at very affordable prices. I consider the search as much fun as the finding what I am looking for. Blessings. justme |

399 | Is it true? | Prov 3:5 | justme | 107790
Axen7z4: Friend. I have visited several Christian Forums. May I suggest that there is a Forum for just about every sort of Christian theological opinion you can imagine. With five hundred pluss postings you have seen enough to know is theological and Biblicaly sound. I have read some things that were so wrong I wanted to land bast them. That will accomplish nothing. I have found no fault with Lockman or their desires for us to abide by. I have observed that there are some who seem to not have any other life but this forum, at least it appears so. I wonder if perhaps you might be spending so much time on the forum that your real ministry is being neglected. I don't know, I am only trying to suggest some things. Everyone on this forum is well shielded from anyone knowing the way we really are. Anyone can say they have what ever degree they so chose. Why I could say I written many books for instance. I have not of course, my English shows that. I personally have little patients for the Word of Faith Movement. I have learned justr to avoid dialogue about WOF. I find those who do not accept the Trinity extremely hard to understand or to dialogue with. I make it a practice not to get involved with some who are so in opposition to my beliefs. I do this out of respect, and kindness, and to not waste my time. Perhaps you might think about what I've said, and if you can use any of it fime, if not at least you know I cared enough to make a suggestion. I mean no criticism at all. Blessings. justme |
