TheFinalSQL: Norm, I have some strong feelings about my Baptist beliefs, I will not bring into play a way to slip in a jab or two to get my points out in the Forum that we have been asked not to do. I will either abide by what has been asked by Lockman or with respect and self dignity I will go to a forum that I can be out front with my beliefs. Your issue wit the name of Jesus Baptism is off bounds. Bring up as you did kind of offends me, please abide by Lockmans statemen! Thank you for your understanding. justme |

402 | common questions by children | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 107447
justducky2: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. These are very good questions. Axien7z4 answered the questions quite well. I would add one thing. God created everything on earth with the ability to reproduce. He created mankind male and female, you know Adam and Eve. Not Adam and Steve as some would have us to believe. (Just a side note there.) God is neither male or female the same with angels. I hope this gives you some more to think about. Have you any thoughts? Blessings. justme |

403 | Why must we continually confess sin? | 1 John 1:8 | justme | 107446
windjammer: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. May I suggest that the when ever I say I am "mature" I am about to take a fall. I caution you about making such grandious statements, as they tend to humble us quite quickly. As mature believers I an rather supprised neither you or your friend was well founded enough in the Word to recall 1 John 1:10. To refresh your memory, If we say we have not sinned we make Him out to be a lier. This is my paraphrase. Does any of this ring a bell? I consider myself to be quite in need of milk and I am just able to handle some soft food in the Word. There are so many who are mature in my eyes in this forum. I am saying these things not only to you windjammer, but to myself as well. I have huge wood spikes in my spiritual eyes, and it makes it hard at times to see my own spiritual weakness. I hope this gives you something to consider. Any thoufgts? Blessings. justme |

404 | when will jesus christ return | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 107339
Sojourner3: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum! You ask a very good question. I will tell you there have been multitudes of volumes written on this very question. Perhaps everone who is or lived with the faith of the Lord Jesu Christ has asked this very question. The answer is forund in Matthew 24:36. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the SON, but only the Father." This is thw Word of the Holy Father, and no one can add anything to this. I believe we should live and plan as if Jesus will not come in our lifetime. I believe we should expect His return at anytime and as Jesus said we are to "be ready". What do you think? Blessings. punkiedo: With what you said in your note, Merry Christmas hardly seems sincere. This kind of note is not at all within a way to show Christian Love. Please, for a first time person on the forum, those of us who are regulars can well speak for ourselves thank you. Peace, and I do extend to you a blessed Christmas. justme |

407 | In Controlling Pastor : casting fear | Matthew | justme | 107089
WilBo: I have serious concerns when ever anyone talks about "a way to do it right to get rid of the Controlling Preacher". I don't know all that you do, but may I suggest a few things. Because you have said you have been a Christian for 35 years, I will assume you are a mature Christian who is very fimular with the Bible. I am sure you already know that Scripture warns not to condemn his anointed. Should someone go against the Lords called, there is sever warnings not to bring false charges against an Overseer. Again I assume you have followed Matthew chapter 18 in confronting your Pastor. Having been a pastor, I think I can tell you that being a Pastor is a heavy responsibility to God and the people. I suggest you fast and pray for half a day and seek God's wisdom. A church does not hire a Pastor, he is called by God. Thus a church should never fire a pastor, unless it's for imorality or serious sin. To dismiss a pastor without any redemptive effort on the churches part is so very wrong. I encourage you to attempt to talk with your pastor, go to him, with someonelse, and reason with him. If you or others have not talked with him in very plan English you would be completely unscriptual and no basis for such a action. I hope you enter into a time of asking God to direct you actions. Blessings. justme |

408 | New church? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 106982
New Creature: Your situation is more common than you might think. I could not help wonder if you age is above 45 or so. At any rate My wife and I are over the hill and retired, yet we enjoy the contempory worship very much. The "traditional" worship service is what we were use to for more than 50 years. I miss to older hymns, and we do sing them once and a while. I notice that much of our music is focused on praising the Lord, and lifting up our heart and mind up to worshiping the LORD. I have noticed much of the songs are taken from Scripture and that is very special. One of my favorite songs is It Is Well With My Soul. Having been raised on the Baptist Hymnal most of my life I know most of these old treasured hymns by heart. My experience with Keith Green's music some 20 years ago so touched my heart. The words and melody are very moving. For my wife and I we feel very comfortable in either way of worship. Our church has drums, and stringed instruments and a electronic organ-paino. Nothing makes any of thes musical instruments wrong to praise and worship the Lord. The truth is there are many ways to worship the Lord. The way we worship is just different, not wrong. Change is hard only if we are unmoveable, and unwilling to adapt. Music has for several centuries been an object of strong disagreement and divisions in churches. May I suggest that it is the utmost importance that you and your wife worship together. Someday you may well be alone without her, or her without you, when one of you passes on. I can assure that then you woill look back and wish that the other were sitting beside you, as now you are alone not by choice. I wonder if this is a symton of something deeper going on between you two? I hope this helps, blessings. justme |

409 | Is being remarried an eternal sin? | Deuteronomy | justme | 106512
BlindFaith: Scripture forbids them to divorce their present partners, and remarry their former partners. The sad fact is that divorce always causes problems, many times more problems are created than were done away with. The best advice is for them to confess their sin and live as they are. justme |

410 | did jesus go to hell | 1 Pet 3:18 | justme | 106442
germz: Welcome to the Bible study Forum! You asked a quite common question that often gets the fir standing on edge. This teaching of Jesus going to hell is from the WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT. Such teachers as Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Keneth Haggen and many more present this view. The more Christian Orthodox view says this a serious misuse of scriptual meaning. The ultimate question is why would God bow down to satan, and fight him for souls, when God is creator of everything including satan? The thought of this is repulsive. The expression of such is complete ignorance, and an attempt to mislead people to believe satan is a greater power than Jesus Christ. I see others have given you lots of scripture, so I am attempting to give you a logical view. I hope this helps, and would like to hear what you think. Blessings to you. justme |

411 | Does Deut. 24:1 still apply? | Deut 24:4 | justme | 106184
partsman: Marriage restrictions were not revoked or changed by Jesus or any Apostle. However as we know specfic instructions about what is eatable was given by instructions to Peter. Carefull examination will prove that these marriage rules were for a real purpose. There is wisdom in this verse in Deut. 24:4. Even still there have been Christians who did this out of ignorance, stupidity, or defiance. What do we say to those fokes? I believe we go to 1John 1:9, what else can we tell those who are so deep in sin they can't see light? Any thoughts? justme |

412 | one takes own life. | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 105876
beelersweethome: I just responded to a note quite simular to your, yesterday. The main question is what did your brother do with Jesus Christ, that is all that matters. The taking of ones own life will not remove the faith one has in Christ. There is only one sin that can not be forgiven and that is rejecting Jesus Christ as our Lord. I am sorry for your loss, I think we hardly know the true misery some people endure with mental illness's. I believe only God knows the suffering many people endure and find they can't live with anylonger. I am not saying suicide is not a sin, I am saying the main issue is what the person did with Jesus Christ. Blessings and peace. justme |

413 | complications caused by sex | Ex 22:16 | justme | 105792
Ryan: That was the fastest response I have ever had from a posted note. 2 Corinthians 6:14 is the basis for Christians and the relationships we have in marriage, business, and lifes choices. However when a unborn child is involved this makes the situation much deeper to work through. Would it make a difference if the man was a Christian and the woman a unbelievre? How about the woman a believer and the man an unbeliever? As These are serious considerations that will last forever, and how we react will have an impact for life! Recerational, playboy sex is taking fire into our soul. God has a plan that makes lasting joy. But satan tempts mankind into what appears to be what will fill our needs aand give us pleasure, but only for a brief time. I hope this helps, any thoughts? Blessings Ryan. justme |

414 | Unclean food for the Christian? | Lev 1:1 | justme | 105596
Asken: I refer you to Acts 10:15. By this verse you can see Peter had the same concern as you. Perhaps the better question is if you feel it is wrong for you to eat or drink some food then for you to partake would be wrong, am I not correct? Luke tells in Acts that we should be wise in not causing those who are weaker in their faith to stumble. I have a very dear friend who is a seventh Day Aventist. Out of sincere respect for him I did not eat things that he considered wrong. Not because I felt eating something was wrong, I knew it was offensive to him. Perhaps it is a matter of kindness and respect for others we need to be cautious. Not just in what we eat but in our action people also make judgements about our faithfulness. Blesings to you. justme |

415 | Hank... take this to heart | Eph 6:12 | justme | 105478
sickhead: I find your note to Hank a sad expression of inmaturity in wisdom, kindness, respect and spirituality. I have made over 1200 posts on this forum, not once have I ever seen even the slightest hint of any of Hanks remarks of being less than expressions of restraint, and expresions of attempting to reach out to people in Christian love. Hanh has not always reaped what he sowed, he deserves praise and honor for his endless effort to be the person overseeing the forum. I am an old pain in the neck, but hank is an Elder spiritually and in age. Hank has earned my respect. However sickmind in 12 posts you have not even scratched to surface in your spiritual wisdom. I mean this very kindly, but with a sincere solid piece of advice, you are sowing what you have reaped. You sowed a bitter post to Hank that does not deserve it, and you need to pray for wisdon, in how to ask for forgiveness. Pray and think about it, this is a time to grow and mature in the Lord Jesus. Peace. justme |

416 | "I pray Thee" Earnestly implore? | 2 Chr 6:40 | justme | 105379
Greetings Ray! May I say I often start my prayer with "Holy Father..." There are times I will address God as Lord Almighty Yahweh, even My Father. I do not address our Holy Father, in any other term except that which reflects my adoration, reverance, and my most worthy terms of indearment. I also praise Jesus for being my Lord and confess my sim and seek His wisdom, and His direct will for my life. I believe having become so dependant upon His daily support for my life to continue has changed how I respond to the Holy Father and Jesus my Saviour. I am so undeserving of the mercy and grace extended to me. Ray what how do you talk with God? Blessings dear brother. justme |

417 | Is this a Christian Forum? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 105377
JCrichton: I usually start off by welcomo\ing a new person to the Bible Study Forum. I read in your note some concern in your rather blunt observations, without really doing any dialogue with anyone. I attempt to be respectful, kind and ready to listen and dialogue. I can't honestly say I remember any note quite like yours that is so critical right off the bat. If your search for answers is genuine, then your questions will be responded to in a respectful way. I encourage you to try and see if your observations are correct or you jumped to an inaccurate conclusion. I hope it is the latter. Might I suggest that first impressions of you by your note suggest what you think you saw may be a reflection of yourself. Give it some thought any way, I extend to you peace and blessings. justme |

418 | The KJV is the most accurate? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 104465
kalos:-) Greetings brother. I have a Word for Word reprint of the orignal First Edition of the Authorized Version. I will quote John 3:16 as it appears in the orignal KJV. "For God so loued y world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life." The spelling is not standarized as we now have, and following the Roman Nunerals is slightly different as IV is IIII. There are other oddities, but one can, with some idea of how the passage reads today, can follow it. I believe if this were the only Bible I had could introduce someone to Christ, or preach a message from it. I am not a KJV fan, but I was raised on it and memorized from the KJV. I personally do not care too much for the NKJV either. I do read and enjoy the NASB Updated. I like how it reads and flows with my thought patterns. I find the NASB Updated has much clearer meaning than the NKJV or the NIV. I do use the NIV to gain a wider scope in todays terms, but not often is the NIV any clearer for me. But kalos, what good is any version, if people won't read the Bible. There are so many English Bible translations in print today, there just is no excuse for not reading the Bible on a systematic basis. What are your thoughts? Blessings. justme |

419 | based on Mt. 5:32 may I marry a divorced | Matt 5:32 | justme | 103504
Big Jim: Having made two posts, I read you note to Ray. I see you have some knowledge beyond that of basic Bible. So I will address you question somewhat different than some others. I agree with Morant61, that not enough information is supplied by you, to make a really scriptual answer. I also would say to such a person in thes situation to go to their pastor as Tim did as well. I do feel that wit all the Bible wisdom in this collective froum there should be a wider scope of Scriptual views. May I say as having been a pastor, I did not find doing marriages a big thrill. I did turn down as many as I married. If a couple came to me and either were divorced, and their divorced mate was unmarried, I insisted they stop and go back and work at rebuilding their marriage. I would not marry anyone who's Christian spouse was still able to reconcile. No matter what the reason there is always hope as long as neither party has remarried. If all ministers followed this there would be a very large percentage who reconciled! I do have deep compassion for divorced Christians. I also know second marriages have a higher rate of failure than you might think, about 65 percent. If there are children involved and a blended family the odds are even higher of failing. This is Christian marriages I am refering to. Are you free to marry a divorced Christian woman? Is her ex husband still unmarried? If so then stop and KNOW the reason for the divorce. Talk to the ex husband, if there is not serious Biblical flaws in the previous marriage then you need leave. I hope this helps. justme |

420 | DEUT 15:1 AS THE END OF EVERY SEVEN YEAR | Deuteronomy | justme | 103357
GeorgeG: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. This is a good question. This was for Israelites only, not required for loans made to foreigners. This was a requirement of the Lord Almight, so there would not be the destitute poor who were Israelite. AS one studies this the question of were any loans made in the 6th year comes to my mind. Perhaps a shrewed loan maker would be protective of the money he loaned out with the idea that any money left owing whould have to be lost, might have been a factor. I also noticed that our Federal laws do allow for debts to be discharged every seven years in Bankrupcy Courts. I wonder if the length of time was taken from this history. However this passage canceling of debts was not intended to protect unwise or careless use of funds, but to help those in need. This was intended for a showing of mercy and forgiveness. This is what Christ foes for our confessed sin today, but instead of every seven years we can be made clean by confession (1John 1:9). This was one of the Major Social Concerns in the Covenant of sixteen listed areas (NIV Study Bible. This practice may have overlaped into perhaps AD 70, but I know of no record beyond that time. I hope this helps, and if you need more information, let me know. Good to have you with the Forum. justme |
