341 | We shouldn't be in the military? | Eccl 3:8 | justme | 139667
He-Man: I am a 100 percent diabled vet. I have read the notes sent back and forth, and felt it was my time to speak up. I am of the opinion if older men had to fight on the front lines war might not be so appealing, and would end much sooner. I consider war evil. Killing a and damaging children, women, and men may seem exciting in the movies, and war stories are exciting only in the make believe pretend land of some writers imagination. There is a debt we owe to our country, and I for one believe every male needs to give his country some of his time to repay the price we have for freedom. For those who feel actual fighting or involvement in combat is wrong, there is and has been optional service areas, but yet serving their country. Medics, store keepers, food handlers, are just but a few positions that one can serve if they object to combat. There is little excuse to not serve one's country in my way of thinking. However, I do see on PBS many young boys that have given their lives in Iraq. My heart gasps for the families of these service men and women killed or wounded. I can only imagine the pain of losing a child, or a father or mother in war. To me this is a tragic cost of war. Romans 14:22 is a verse I keep in mind, that I need to be careful in what I approve, as what I approve of can turn around and ruin my testimony. The war in Iraq is not a simple solution to age old battles of godless religions. I am concerned that the motives for going to war with Iraq are reasonable questionable. There is reason to question the money making ethic of some political leaders who had or have an interest in companies doing business with the Military in Iraq. These are situations that a thinking Christian must be prepared to consider if defending the war in Iraq. For me it was enough to say over 100,000 mainly children were being killed for the lack of food that was caused by greedy people keeping the money from Food for Oil. This is reason enough to go in and remove the evil government of Iraq. There was no need to lie to the US about W.M.D.s. I respect those who bring to light lies that have been told, but I believe we are to be there to help the poor and mistreared of Iraq. Any thoughts? justme |

342 | Does the Lord still heal people today? | Phil 3:10 | justme | 138652
Chaser: I can state infacticly yes he does. The problem is often we pray for healing as if that was the right of us do do so. So we ask with wrong motivies. I had blood clots in my lungs last June.I was told to go home and prepare to die at anytime. I did. I also asked my Pastor to come and pray and annoint me with oil. I asked my Elders and church to pray for me to be in the direct will of the Lord. With that prayer I cannot ask the Lord for anything but what He wants for my life. This takes faith as either way the Lord answers I am not asking for anything bit what He wants. My clots were gone in 40 days and I lived with more clots than the Doctors had seen anyone recover with. I have the before and after Catscans to prove what I have said. I believe God heals today, but far more of a healing it is when someone come to Jesus seeking Him for salvation, with a repentence, and is saved once and for ever. I hope this helps, and God bless you. Have more questions? Just ask. justme |

343 | When was the book of Revelation written? | Rev 1:9 | justme | 134958
Kalos: Very interesting question. I am leaning more to an earlier date of about 65 AD. I have taken this more sreiously lately due to "Hank" the Bible Answer Man, and his quest for a better understanding of "things to come". I believe that hwen Jesus said that this generation will not pass until "these things take place" are better understood in light that the generation Jesus refered to was those standing heraing His owrds. Do you see some favor in this understanding of the text and why Revelation might well have been written at an earlier date? blessings. justme |

344 | Who did sin, that man, or his accusers? | Rom 7:13 | justme | 134334
Passerby: Thank you fror the kind words and understanding of whole situation. It is clear to me that you have researched the web site and are fimular with the counseling that he has used and promoted on this Bible Forum. I am impressed with your defending his legal status and his intregrity. It is clear that you have made a wise choice to become an expert in only a few days with the Forum. I noticed that some of the more nieve and less informed forum mmembers have responded to your remarks as well. Please forfive their ignorance as they have only been with the forum from almost the start. Your valued imput and opinions are needed as we are but ignorant and babbling about something we were clearly just blowing hot air about. Please forgive me for my part as I have much to learn to mature into the wisdon you so clearly have risen and obtained. Please be patient with me as I am sure God is not done with me yet. Thank you for the encouragement and blessings that you have brought to my day. justme |

345 | How many wives can a man have | Gen 2:24 | justme | 133719
fweathers: This is an odd question, and I wonder why you ask? I believe the Biblical answer is you are bound to each other till death. Upon death there are some of us that would never remarry as we feel that out vows last forever. Then there are those who cant live without a spouse, which is not a sin. So as long as you mate has died without your assistance, you can marry one at a time as long as you both live. I will add this note that for the Christian divorce should never be an option. justme |

346 | A promise or a biblical principle | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 133718
Hresh Wiley: Tim LaHey is not the best for this kind advise, is my opinion. His multi volume fictional "left behind" books left a negative impression on him and his co-author. Therefore may I suggest that you get a good study Bible, for example the NASB or NIV Life Application Bible. Start in Matthew and read the Scripture and the notes one chapter at a time. This allows you to keep the entire Scripture in context, and find some application as well. I am doing this and find it most helpful. I encourage you to depend on the Holy Spirit to teach, convict and encourage your heart to growth in the Lord Jesus. Try to stay away from authors who have a point to grind, and who have become rich selling fiction, and such is LayHey. Blessings. justme |

347 | Deacon/Pastor divorced before saved | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 129579
pbp: After reading your question and the aanswer given to it, I thought I drop a note too. This is a very touchy subject. There seems to be endless reasons for and against, and it gets rather tangled up. There are those who would say if a man marries a woman who has been divorced, even because her husband was an outright confessed adulter, some would not allow the man to be a pastor. Then there are churches who except homosexual pastors! The call of God on a man or woman for ministry in whatever capacity, is always confirmed by the church. We can only hope that it is a Biblical Church and God directs the people to God's choosen. Your question is really answered by the church you are a part of, and their traditions. Under no circumstance should a person fight and force themselves into ministry. If one is really called by God a ministry will open. God does not issue a call that has no place to answer that call. Think carefully about what I have said and let me know what you think. Blessings. justme |

348 | Why would NIV say 500 cubits? | Ezek 42:16 | justme | 129286
tortoise: I so enjoyed your testimony in your personal profile. Many never take the time to fill it out, and it is refreshing to read yours, thank you. By what you say and having a grand child you must be in your fifties or there abouts. I think many of can relate with you and how we too desired a personal living relationship with the Lord Jesus. Nothing takes the place of KNOWING that our Lord is hearing us and answering us. This takes time to develope, and for me took lots of love on Jesus' part. In the NASB updated is uses the word "reed" and I believe a reed and cubit are almost the same in measurement. The NIV in the early editions had to correct their measurement chart as it had errors, and was corrected sometime after 1980. In the 1983 updated edition there was Many word changes and they were for the better. I personally have shifted to mainly the NASB Updated and use the NIV as a way the clarify a verse if I find it rather wordy. I have made the change because my thought pattern follows the wording better in the NASB. I find the words more deeply express the heart felt emotion of the meanings in words. Grace and blessings. 351 | Baptised if living together with fiance? | Matt 18:6 | justme | 126448
Lillian: Theo-Minor advice is not where I would come from at all. When someone wants to join the Elks, Moose, or any organization, they have to agree to do certian things. This is common knowledge, and if one wants to abide by these requirements they can join or they can chose to not join. The church has the right and Biblical responsibility to do the very same thing, but as Jesus left instructions to follow. Marriage is a Holy Union. In continuing to live with each other they have not fully repented, and they have for some reason remained unmarried. How does anyone know they are not sexually involved? The appearence of wrong doing is there, that is enough to cause someone to stumble. If their commitment to Christ is not strong enough to either marry or depart from living together then there is not a clear understanding of what to follow Jesus in baptism means. I doubt many Biblically based churches would allow them to be baptized without this area of their lives being settled one way or the other. Repentence is the turning away from sin. I understand you love and concern for them, but this is not the time to lower the standard in fear they will not follow up with their Christian lives. Blessings. justme |

352 | justme | Gen 1:1 | justme | 126431
Emmaus: Thank you for your concern, and continued prayer. I am to have another Cat Scan of my lungs this Friday. This will tell us if the clots have gotten worse, stayed the same or have begun to desolve. Any of the three are possible, however I believe I feel better, and have more physical strength. The doctor told us last Monday that he had not seen anyone with the numerious amount of clots that I have, ever live to this point. He said "you are one for the books". My oxygen saturation level is 96 percent and this seems to the doctors impossible. We have been able to witness to the doctor, and we keep telling them it is strickly the Lord doing it all. My blood has gotten to the proper thickness. That's all we know at this point. I am walking more and get tired sooner than normal, but we expect that, I am walking outside more, and I do feel pretty good at this point. To all this I sau to God be the Glory and praise, He is able to do far more than we can dare to dream. Blessings Emmaus. justme |

354 | Once saved, always saved? | Matt 27:5 | justme | 125539
tmjt21: Welcome to the forum. Often when this question comes up the meaning behind this question is just as important. This has been dialouged many times and there are believers on both sides of this issue. Which ever outlook a Christian has should not cause reason for disfellowshiping with one another. Personally I am concerned that sometimes unless we take into account that there those who havea proclaimed faith that is not genuine. These fall by the wayside and depart form the faith. These that leave the faith, in reality has a flawed faith and were not born again. Those that remain, and abide in Christ Jesus, those born again, are eternalaly secure, sealed by the Holy Spirit and held in the Lord Jesus hand. If I were a person asking this question, perhaps I might really be asking how little can I do the be saved and still live a sinful life. I hyave found thsi to be the case on a few that asked me this question. John chapter 10 in reading the whole chapter will be a big help for you. I hope this helps. Blessings. justme |

355 | ..confidence, trust, belief and courage? | 1 Corinthians | justme | 125168
boLB: In reading your note there come to my mind several areas of concern. I don't know if you are a follower of Jesus or not, as you don't say. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ then what are you doing in such a immoral relationship? For that matter even if your not a Christian this in not a healthy relationship. For the reason that you turned to this Forum I will take it you are a Christian. I will make it real, and get to the point. I Cor. 6:14. You can not take fire into your soul, and not expect to bet burned. You are spiritually in serious big time trouble, say nothing of what this immoral, unbiblical relationship with your mind and body. You have one acceptable choice. Get out at once, flee from this and repent. That's a rather old fashion term, but you get the point. Ot you can remain in the same condition as you are. The choice is your's and I pray you will choose the way of Christ. justme |
