261 | Difficulty with a Brother in the Church? | 1 Cor 16:14 | justme | 187860
Jamey: Your Scriptual answer is found in Matthew 18:15-20. Notice there are specfic steps, and to reconcile is the goal. I would pray before each step you take. Agood starting point is always to ask if you have done something to offend this brother. Perhaps telling the brother some points about him you admire at first might aim the conversation in a better direction. A prayer I read went something like this " Lord, help my words to be soft and tender...as tommrow I may have to eat them." Once you say something you can't ever take it back. I hope this Scripture guides your path. justme |

262 | Do you have scriptures to affirm? | 2 Thess 2:3 | justme | 187722
M.Royal: I wish you would fill out something of about your self on Update User Info. this is on the left botton under Resources. I am sure that you view only represents one view point, and there others who are fine Christians that might not agree with your understanding of this topic. I would be willing to dialogue the issue with you as long as Christian respect, kindness, and love with a genuine desire to lear from each other is our goal. Pray and think about it, as I will not be involved with just trying to prove the other person wrong. I welcome the chance to grow and learn more of how others have come to the scriptual conclusions they hold. Blessings. justme |

263 | Can we say Christs return is imminent? | 2 Thess 2:3 | justme | 187458
M.Royal: Everyday that passes is one day closer to the return of Jesus. However not everyone would say that there are two events that are preventing the return of Jesus Christ. Some say that Jesus will return after the tribulation, others say in the Mid-Tribulation. I believe when Jesus gave us His instructions in matthew 24. That that is a better place to understand His return than a theory based on one verse. Perhaps, we have been told so often that Christians will not suffer tribulation, that when real seriouc tribulation comes into a persons life they can not cope with it. Perhaps, it's better tosay it is a real possibility that Christiand may and if fact do suffer greatly, and be prepared to suffer for Christ. I personally believe in the Historic Premillennialism point of view. This is not intended to be anything but a kind reminder that there is much toconsider. justme |

265 | Prayer for death | 1 Kin 19:4 | justme | 183774
Finder: I am reading the book of Job this week. If ever there was a person wishing he had never been born it was Job. I believe for some of us life can be very hard. I can relate to having been in such pain I wished I would die. However, when I have endured such feelings Psalm 139 has become more meaningful everytine I have felt that way. I have seem others in enotional pain that have felt they wanted life to end too. Pain comes in many forms. I have learned to pray to be in the center of Gods will. A prayer that askes to be in His direct will will NEVER go unanswered! This has come to me after much soul searching and looking for answers from God as to WHY. Scripture says to walk by faith, not by sight. Faith walking is not an easy road! I pray that something I have shared helps in sone way. Blessings. Justme |

266 | Reveren, biblical or not? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 183230
curtman: Your question is not one that I personally dealt with. To be real honest very few of us are reverend, as I see it. However the title is a way of showing respect. In my experience this title was given when a minister was ordained. At least that was the case in the churches I was a member of. I much prefer to have the title of Pastor. However, in our culture at graduation service from Seminary the professor and speakers are listed as Reverend Doctor ..... In Marriage services, and Funeral services, usually the minister is listed as Rev. ..... this is a sign of respect. Then again a Seminary graduate with a Master of Divinity is listed as M.Div. So it may seem a little complex but it does honnor those who have prepared for ministry, and taken the time and studies that at least says the person has the "head knowledge". That does not say this person has the "heart of Christ" which is not the same. Unless the heart and head are working together it's not of God. Blessings justme |

267 | Baptized before serving in choir | 1 Cor 12:13 | justme | 183228
azurelaw: I agree with what Brad, CDBJ, and Doc have said. However I have another added thought. I personally think the Baptism requirement is a sound abd Biblical requirement. I know of no organization wher you can hold any office without belonging to the origanization. Why would one who has not followed the Lords instructions want to be a part of believers that have followed the Lords instructions? I think it best to follow your churches requirements with confidence it is Biblical. justme |

268 | can women be pastors | 1 Tim 2:12 | justme | 182069
Malt: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. Besides using the Search box, the question is not "can women be pastors" but rather we know there are women pastors in our world today, and there were a good number of women pastors in the the eighteen hundreds. It is debatable in denominations in the United States, and there are understandings for this division. The topic of women being ordained for ministry in any Church office is not worth debating in a open public forum. This is best for defending either position can become an open debate and soon there are wonded believers, and that should not be in an open forun. I would encourage you to ask your pastor for the Biblical perspective your church abides by. I would encourage you to use your churches library, and read what materials are on this subject. You might call some churches in your area and actually talk with a woman who is a pastor, get her Biblical support for why she feels her call is from God. This is not a subject you will come to a conclusion without some serious long term study. Might I suggest you start with reading Galations, the whole book. Pay attention to Galations 3:26 to 29 and 5:6. One example of a denomination who does believe that women do have a calling and do ordain women in ministry ai the American Baptist Churches of the USA. One example of a denomination that totally disagrees with women being ordained or being a pastor would be the Southern Baptist Churches. Both are Christians, both love the Lord and both have a very active Missions, and goals for reaching the lost. I have served as a pastor in both denominations and have appreciated the love for Christ that both have. Justme |

269 | how do you deal with seeing demons | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 180438
Anto: The suggestion of the others to seek medical attention is worthy to consider. However, I am interested in what you experience, and why you feel you have seen a demon? Are you a born again Christian? If so how do you know your a Christian. I look to hear from you. Justme |

271 | In the book of Hebrews. Who wrote it | Hebrews | justme | 180242
Dewitt: Welcome to the Stidy Bible Forum! There many suggested authors of the Book of Hebrews. Some have even suggested Paul, and many others, even perhaps Percilla. There are internal reasons that can be because the style remind us of perhaps Paul, and some have even said because of the style it could not have been Paul. So there has to be something to ask when we go home, the author of Hebrews remains a secret until then. Justme |

272 | Your Favorite, Best Quality Bible? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 179574
TaureanMan: I liked your question, it's good to have an intrest in a Bible that will last to be passed down to family, who just might get ideas on how you searched the Scriptures. Evaluate where you are in your growt as a Believer. For just about everyone how to apply Scripture is constant for our life on this earth. I have a good number of Bibles, and my family says I collect Bibles, and when we go to the Christian Book store I go to look at the Bibles first. No matter what bible you select, make sure it's made of one piece genuine leather, NOT BONDED, as bonded leather is stiff and does dry out and begins to fall apart in a few short years. Genuine leather gets softer and protects better than any other meterial. Very few Bibles are Smyth Sewn any more. This is a binding that holds for many, many years. Smyth Sewn Bibles are more costly then other Bible bindings. Genuine Calf leather is the softest, best leather, again it cost more. Some Bible publishers have such leather, generally it is the top of the line Bible. For me I use the NASB Life Application Study Bible, in genuine leather, by Zondervan. It is ISBN 0-310-91161-3. There are several colors in the leather. The cost should be 75 to 90 dollars depending on where you purchase it. This Bible is made with good quality and the pages hold solidly, and there is nice room to make notes. My pastor uses the NKJV, and the NASB follows that version fairly well. I would encourage you to find a very Large Christian Book store and spend some time looking at the different Bibles. In my area Life Way's book store has a huge selection of Bibles and many versions to choose from. A leather Bible that's been cared for will last many years. I have one from 1959, and several others that I use often and I think the leather looks nicer the more the Bible is used. Once some one said to me that all Bibles should be read. No matter how nice the Bible, unless it's used it is not doing anyone any good. Hope this helps. Justme |

273 | Need Help finding a certain NASB Bible! | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 178402
NMRHI believe I have that Bible. The numbers on the back of my Bible are 1-58135-1127 and the number below that is 873. The Foundation Publication price was 150. four years ago. I advise you to look with extra care, as the cover on mine is slightly off center. The price I paid was not reflected in the quality I received. I called Foundation Publications, Inc. several times and they informed me that this Bible is hand made. The binding is Smyth sewed, and the leather Calfskin is also made by hand and put on by hand. Frankly, for 150. I expected much better quality, or should I say a better crafted Bible for the price, and if it was done by hand someone did not do a very good job. Also the gold on the pages is easly turmed withe by the slightest bit of moisture, and the sections that make up the total Bible are poorly alighned. I am not pleased. I recently bought a thin line NASB, from Foundation Publications, genuine leather. The Bible cane from South Korea, and the leather is like wrinkled cardboard. I will attempt to avoid Foundation Publications, Bibles when ever I can. They are not up to other quality Bible publishers standards. I do not think Lockman has responsibility for what Foundation Publications does as far as quality is concerned. Justme |

274 | Signs of Jesus coming back? | Rev 19:11 | justme | 177143
irdkilgore: May I suggest you read Matthew chapter 24. Nothing says it better than what Jesus said Himself. I would look at how many times the word "yet" is used. Read this chapter in Matthew and then read Revelation. These are be in agreement, it takes study to fully make sence of it, and study takes a life time. Justme |

275 | Who are authorised to perform Baptism | Matt 28:19 | justme | 176534
skolaventy: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Youask a very good question. In reality any believer can baptise a Christian needing to be baptised. The big issue is that some if not many want you to be baptised under the churches authority. Some churhes and denominations require you be baptised again under their authority. My wife was re-baptised in a Southern Baptist Church. She was pleased to be a witness for the Lord, especially when she recieved Christ at the age of five, she was in her mid thirties at the time. I am reminded that often my pastor as a young boy use to say "here is water what hinders you from being baptised?" Hope this helps. Justme |

276 | What if both parties want a divorce? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 175843
gatoiz: Welcome to the forum. Your question has had sound Biblical answers. May I add that by what you say and by what Jesus said, you BOTH have hardness of your hearts. Unless one of you see's you both are braking a Covenant you both made to your Holy Father and to each other. This is the biggest mistake you will ever make in your life! Scripture does say to live apart is better than to destroy each other. Because you both are Christians you have no scriptual reason or basis for divorce. Most every couple has some very hard times. The very damaging thing to your testimony is to divorce when Jesus said the the failure because of hardness of heart can be overcome, and you will be more in love than at first. Please seek out a professional Christian Counselor. Prove your love for Christ by honnoring the Lord Jesus Christ. Learning to love takes a lifetime, and you have a lot of time to mend your marriage. 277 | can a man have two wives ? | Gen 2:24 | justme | 174847
Annointed child: Besides being against the law, this man is mentally in control of these women and abusing them both. Most likely he is a Morman, living is a hidden or hard to reach place. Often within these communities there are child brides which is pure mollestation. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 say to avoid even the appearences of evil. If anything is evil, this situation is for sure. 278 | can a woman be pastor of a church | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 174843
andra: I do support women in ministry, and their ordination. My view is NOT representative of any other person in this forum, that I know of. To prevent any discord with my fellow forum members, may I direct you to the Search box below the Word or ID# on the top right side of this page.Type in women in ministry, or women pastors. This will give you laods of Scripture both for and against. May the Lord Jesus guide you in your search. This subject has taken some of us a very long time to resolve in ourselves. Justme |

279 | Pre-marital Sex and Church Leadership | Colossians | justme | 174484
JQP: The sad facts are that Christians are about the same as the unsaved world is when it comes to sex, divorce, living together, going to bars, and most other forms of sin. If we asked every person in ministry to resign if any of these sins occured before becoming a minister, there most likely would be a lot od positions empty. Best to concern ourselves with minding our own lives very carefully, and praying for our outher Christians. Justme |

280 | Speaking In Tounges | 1 Cor 14:13 | justme | 174263
Gen Betrayed: What you discribe seems to go hand and hand with the Word of Faith Movement, which has destroyed many peoples faith. Speaking in tounges is a gift as I read Scripture. Is something a gift if I have to ask for it? I do not think so. Why is this gift so desired above giving, teaching, helps, and so on? Paul says it's the least of all the gifts. I think you has perfect reason to feel more than uncomfortable. I think asking people to try and speak in tounges is not Scriptual, and I would shake the dust off your shoes and move on to a Bible teaching Church. I do believe the Lord can use any gift He so wants, but God does not go against Hiw word, as this Pastor was suggesting the people to do. You have a good response to listening to the Holy Spirit, keep listening and be in prayer for God to led you to a good church. Blessings. Justme |
