Bible Question:
Hi Country Girl, This is concerning the strict qualifications both deacons and pastors share. My question is this:If a deacon or pastor was married and divorced before they became a Christian and/or called by God would this still apply. |
Bible Answer: pbp: After reading your question and the aanswer given to it, I thought I drop a note too. This is a very touchy subject. There seems to be endless reasons for and against, and it gets rather tangled up. There are those who would say if a man marries a woman who has been divorced, even because her husband was an outright confessed adulter, some would not allow the man to be a pastor. Then there are churches who except homosexual pastors! The call of God on a man or woman for ministry in whatever capacity, is always confirmed by the church. We can only hope that it is a Biblical Church and God directs the people to God's choosen. Your question is really answered by the church you are a part of, and their traditions. Under no circumstance should a person fight and force themselves into ministry. If one is really called by God a ministry will open. God does not issue a call that has no place to answer that call. Think carefully about what I have said and let me know what you think. Blessings. justme |
