264 | In Adam vs. In Christ? | 2 Cor 5:17 | Mommapbs | 100163
Greetings Aixen7z4 - You wrote, "our lives are merged into his"; I think that our dear member Ray would be gratified if we chose to capitalize "His!" How does this differ from being "in Adam?" 1 Cor 15:22 (see also 15:45) For me, this expands my understanding of the salvation that I have "in Him", who loved me and gave Himself up for me! Blessings, mommapbs |

266 | Righteousness of God? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 120120
Jesus Christ is the "righteousness of God." (Romans 3:21) However, using this reference, (2 Cor 5:21) I was told that believers are the "righteousness of God." Might one get the notion of acquired divinity - (we will all become gods) unless we focus on the words, "IN HIM?" I'd appreciate some input here!
267 | What is wrong? | 2 Cor 12:13 | Mommapbs | 148397

269 | Who is him? (Him or him?) | Gal 4:29 | Mommapbs | 138712
Whe I read this verse, I immediately think of Christ. RE: "him who was born according to the Spirit" , Who is him? IMO, the conclusion of the verse, "so it is now also." is referencing the reality of the ongoing persecution of believers Jesus warned us (John 15:20) would accompany our faith in Him. Comments? (Ray - your comments here would be appreciated.) |

270 | Are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? | Eph 3:17 | Mommapbs | 138115
Most of us have been taught that our hearts are "deceitfully wicked," (Jer 17:9) yet Eph 3:17 declares that Christ dwells in our heart. Psalm 5:4 tells us that "no evil dwells with You" so how can this be?! So which is it: are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? Please support your answers.

273 | Woman's sin worse than man's? | Eph 5:33 | Mommapbs | 65480
“Rabbi” Mark, you wrote: “Even if the man is bad at his authority over the woman the woman still must fear and revere the man. For if the woman took authority, which is expressly forbidden in the Bible, it would be worse than a man who was bad at handling authority”. When is sin not sin? Does God's Word say that any sin (apart from the blasphemey of the Holy Spirit) is greater or "worse" than another? mommapbs |

274 | Defense or offense? | Eph 6:10 | Mommapbs | 36257
In this passage (Ephesians 6:10-20) it is interesting to note that we are told to STAND (v 11,13) Also, as I look at this in light of Paul's charge to Timothy in 2 Tim 1:14, "Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you." It appears again that our posture is one of DEFENSE. Are there any commands in Scripture where believers are instructed to GO and fight offensively? |

275 | Weilding the Sword of the Spirit | Eph 6:17 | Mommapbs | 36199
After the apostle Paul lists the armor of God, he identifies an offensive weapon offered to the believer - the SWORD. In this passage, the SWORD is identified as The Word of God. Note that it belongs to the Spirit; we are told to take it. In 2 Tim 2:15, Timothy is told to "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." From these Scriptures, is it reasonable to suggest that the accurate handling God's Word requires us to rely upon the Holy Spirit (His power) to wield it? Other Scriptures I have been considering while thinking on these things are: 1 Cor 2:9-16; 2 Tim 1:14 Comments? |

276 | A form of godliness -denying its power? | Eph 6:17 | Mommapbs | 36214
Greetings Emmaus! You asked:"So why can't we wield the sword of the indwelling Spirit, the word of God or perhaps the Spiirt wield the sword of the word through us?"We can when we are yielded to Him. But - Is it possible to use God's Word, without the power of the Spirit behind it?
277 | Who are "your opponents/" | Phil 1:28 | Mommapbs | 155650
Who are "your opponents?" In the prior verse we are instructed to be "standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;" The word "striving" indicates that there is a struggle, an opponent; can you identify yours? (For those of you who think you can "go it alone" in your walk as a believer in Jesus Christ - take note of the plurality here and especially of the word "together"!) |
