241 | God's instructions only AFTER the Dove. | Gen 8:16 | EdB | 239971
We don't know why God did it the way He did. We only know what is recorded in scripture. Perhaps he knew Noah and knew Noah would need encouragement, which I think the Olive leaf would supply. |

242 | Unpardonable sin | Matt 12:31 | EdB | 239928
I believe if you still have concern about your soul you probably haven't committed the unpardonable sin. Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is far more than questioning whether a manifestation is of God or of the adversary. Satan is a counterfeiter and scripture tells us many will be deceived. So yes we must question but most of all we must ask for discernment. My advice is go to God in prayer, ask for his forgiveness and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. My opinion is blaspheming the Holy Spirit goes beyond words. It requires an attitude where the person simply no longer cares about salvation, God or the cross. The person's heart is hardened to the truth and will never hear it or even care about it. I don't think you are at that place so I would get right with the Lord and stop letting the adversary worry you and steal your peace. |

243 | The descendants of Adam | Genesis | EdB | 239918
While scripture and the Old Testament is certainly a historical book it's prime purpose is focusing the people to look to the Messiah Jesus Christ. Therefore most all genealogy given in the Old and New Testament is tracing the genealogy of Jesus. Cain was corrupt and Abel was dead so the lineage of Jesus from Adam and Eve was through their son Seth, therefore that is what is included in scripture.
244 | What language did Jesus speak and read? | Luke 4:16 | EdB | 239917
Jesus probably spoke Aramaic the common language of the people. But He also exhibited a excellent working knowledge of Greek and Hebrew reading from the scrolls and giving quotes from the Septuagint. We know Jesus spoke to the Roman Centurion and Pilate which shows he knew Greek or Latin. Jesus also spoke to Samaritan woman and Samaritan's usually didn't speak Aramaic but Hebrew instead. |

245 | Difference between petition and request | Bible general | EdB | 239908
These two words are basically interchangeable by raw definition. However a request could be seen as a pleading or asking. Tom requested he be forgiven. Where a petition is a more formal request. Tom petitioned the courts for his release. |

246 | what is the meaning of john 20:23? | John 20:23 | EdB | 239906
Some commentators have given this statement an extreme interpretation. The prerogative of forgiving sins belongs only to God. Jesus had just commissioned His apostles. Their message was to be the same He had proclaimed. Those who heard had a choice, to accept or reject the message. The apostles could assure those who accepted that their sins had been forgiven, and those who rejected that they were still guilty. 247 | Anyone take notes during Yashua's life? | NT general | EdB | 239843
2 Timothy 3:16 (NASB) 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; God tokes perfect notes and even if God didn't since God transcends time God can step back and make perfectly sure how many fish were in the basket. |

248 | The Lord only hears those that know him | Ps 50:16 | EdB | 239829
It isn't that God doesn't hear them, God simply has no obligation to them other than forgiveness when asked for. All through scripture God calls the unsaved fools, lost, children of Satan. Job 8:13-18 (NASB) 13 "So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the godless will perish, 14 Whose confidence is fragile, And whose trust a spider's web. 15 "He trusts in his house, but it does not stand; He holds fast to it, but it does not endure. 16 "He thrives before the sun, And his shoots spread out over his garden. 17 "His roots wrap around a rock pile, He grasps a house of stones. 18 "If he is removed from his place, Then it will deny him, saying, 'I never saw you.' So it is not that God doesn't hear God simply doesn't have anything to do with them. They are dead in sin and until they seek God, seek forgiveness and make Jesus Lord of their life God simply ignores them. |

249 | Dead Jews redeemed at 2nd coming? | Eph 4:8 | EdB | 239803
The righteous Jews that died before Christ dwelled in the Abraham's bosom or paradise as seen in Luke 16:19-31. When Jesus died he descended into Hades the holding place of the dead to Abraham's bosom and lead captivity, captive to heaven. Eph 4:8 So the righteous Jews of the Old Testament have been redeemed. And all those that died in Christ since Jesus' resurrection go directly into the presence of the Lord. 2 Cor 5:6-8 |

250 | generation alive when Jesus returns | Matt 24:34 | EdB | 239800
There are many interpretations of this passage. Some say Jesus is talking of the generation that will be alive when He returns. Some say Jesus is talking of the generation alive at the time that will see the temple destroyed. Others say Jesus is talking of the generation of the time that will see him crucified and resurrected in victory. Others says Jesus is talking that from that moment on Christians will be persecuted, abused and killed for his name. What it could not be saying is that there would be some from the generation of that time that would be alive when Jesus came back. Since that is 2000 years ago all have died. |

254 | Genesis angels creating giants? | Gen 6:2 | EdB | 239764
The problem with your room mate is probably not the fact she isn't reading the KJV Bible. The problem more probably is she is listening to people instead of reading any Bible. There are many false teachers, teaching all sorts of things. Taking a verse here and verse there. A uncommon word definition here or there. And a lot of human logic and pasting together almost every kind of outlandish story you can come up to keep their TV viewer numbers up. This heresy then often filters down to some local churches and old adage a lie repeated often enough will soon be believed as truth. Tell your room mate to spend more time reading their Bible for themselves and less listening to people that have "revelation" knowledge. |

255 | NASV translation accuracy | Bible general | EdB | 239733
Check out drwile.com and search for Logsdon or Lockman. A blog there includes a response identified as being from Lockman Foundation detailing Frank Logsdon’s involvement with the NASB Here is the supposed response from Lockman. The Board of Directors of The Lockman Foundation launched the NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE translation work in the late 1950’s following the completion of the AMPLIFIED NEW TESTAMENT. Dr. S. Franklin Logsdon was acquainted with Dewey Lockman, president of The Lockman Foundation, prior to Mr. Lockman’s death in 1974. Mr. Logsdon was never a member of the Board of Directors, nor was he an employee of The Lockman Foundation. Mr. Logsdon had no authority to hire employees or translators for the Foundation, to set policy, to vote, to hold office, to incur expenses, etc. He cannot be considered cofounder of the NASB, nor part of The Lockman Foundation, nor part of the NASB translation team, nor did he write the forward of the NASB. According to our records, he was present at board meetings on two occasions, once to hear a travel report; and once to deliver an inspirational thought. Mr. Logsdon last wrote to Mr. Lockman in fall of 1973 that he was moving to Florida. Mr. Lockman replied that he was surprised and saddened by his decision to leave the area. Mr. Lockman passed away in January of 1974, and no further correspondence was exchanged between Frank Logsdon and The Lockman Foundation. He resided in Florida until his passing some years ago. |

258 | Ecumenical Movement Avoid or Not? | Bible general | EdB | 239709
I don't know what the Pope or this Bishop was saying When they say the Reformation is over. I would assume they meant the reformation that was started in the Catholic church during the Reformation is over. In any case there is still the divide between Protestantism and Catholicism. But even that divide is changing as we see many crossing from Protestant to Catholic and Catholic to Protestant. There still remains definite differences in doctrine that some on both sides of the issue zero in on like drawing a line in the sand refuse to consider the other side of the issue. Jesus' prayer for the church was for the body of Christ to be in unity. So I believe God favors any attempt to reconcile the differences that now separate. |

259 | how was banners used in the bible | Ps 74:4 | EdB | 239626
Banners are mentioned 7 times in the NASB Ex 17:15 Nu 2:2 Ps 20:5 Ps 60:4 SS 2:4 SS 6:4 SS 6:10 In Numbers 2:2 we see there were set up so the people of that family would gather around them. Ex 17:15 Ps 20:5 Ps 60:4 Ps 74:4 SS 2:4 SS 6:4 SS 6:10 Isa 5:26 Isa 11:10 Isa 11:12 Isa 13:2 Isa 18:3 Isa 30:17 Isa 31:9 Isa 62:10 Jer 51:27 Zec 9:16 |

God did not explain why he chose them. He chose Abraham and Abraham was faithful to God so God made a covenant with him that included his children. |
