Bible Question:
Gen 4 covers Cain and Abel However, starting with Gen 5 the descendants of Adam are listed with no mention of Cain and Able. It is almost as if there were two complete and separate lives of Adam. One with Cain and Able and one with all his other descendants. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks. |
Bible Answer: While scripture and the Old Testament is certainly a historical book it's prime purpose is focusing the people to look to the Messiah Jesus Christ. Therefore most all genealogy given in the Old and New Testament is tracing the genealogy of Jesus. Cain was corrupt and Abel was dead so the lineage of Jesus from Adam and Eve was through their son Seth, therefore that is what is included in scripture. |
