21 | Why not Baptize as Jesus said to? | Acts 19:5 | Taleb | 108156
Natasha, THERE IS One God, not three IS WHAT we who believe what Scripture says about “the One God”. You stated “I know who the father is I know who the son is and I know who the Holy Ghost” is.” Then you added, “IT IS JESUS”. You declared “this verse says he was given a name above every name” (Phil 2:10). Jesus was highly exalted and given a name which is above all names, BY WHOM? Himself? It plainly and matter-of-factly declares – “GOD exalted Him (Jesus) and gave Him (Jesus) a name above all names.: Why did GOD highly exalt His Son is explained in the verses before. Phil 2:6-9 “Though Jesus possessed the nature of God, He did not grasp at EQUALITY WITH GOD, but laid it aside to take on the nature of a slave and became like other men. When He had assumed human form, Jesus still humbled Himself and carried His obedience so far as to die, and to die upon the cross. THAT IS WHY GOD has so greatly exalted Him”. Now you have an answer to your question. (Why would "the father" exalt his "son" above himself???? or above the "Holy Ghost"??????) It was RIGHT in front of your eyes, had you only searched for the truth. IT DOESN”T say what you wished it said – “Because Jesus obeyed Himself and went to the cross to die as a man, He rewarded Himself by exalting Himself and giving Himself a name above all names.” Numerous Scriptures explain what you are failing to accept. To borrow another quote of yours – “As we learned today in church that when you begin to disprove something that people have believed for a long time, alot of them don't like it”. True. Very true. A test of what you really learned - can you receive the truth of His word. John 16:5-7 “But now I am going back TO THE FATHER WHO SENT ME, and none of you asks me where I am going. You are very sad from hearing all of this. But I tell you that I am going to do what is best for you. That is why I am going away. The HOLY SPIRIT CANNOT COME TO YOU UNTIL I LEAVE. But after I AM GONE, I will send the Spirit to you.” You apparently think this states – “I came here on my own initiative. Now I am going away, so I can send Myself back to you. I can’t come until I’m not here anymore.” It gets better, the deeper into chapter 16 you read. Such as, “The Holy Spirit will show you what is true, and will come and guide you into full truth. The Spirit doesn’t speak of Himself. He will only tell you what He heard from Me”. It really isn’t what you think, or hope. It really IS what THEIR word declares. The one true God really is – ONE. Perhaps it will help you to understand by recalling the verse: “And the two shall become ONE” - like my wife and I are one. Like my wife, daughter, grandchildren and I are one. And this is our prayer for you too. Taleb P.S. John 14:28b “…you should be glad I (Jesus) am going back to my Father, because He IS GREATER THAN I AM.” The Father IS greater. Jesus, His Son is exalted! |

Punkiedo, please forgive me. I never intended to get your blood pressure up. My intention was ONLY to point out to you the error of your faulty conclusions. I agree with the others, who posted after your unnecessary reply. Like others who adhere to false doctrines, your “evidence” reveals many holes. One of many purposes of this forum to “plug such holes.” Without coming up for air you stated you checked my reference in Heb 6. But then you blatantly contradicted yourself. You stated:” I looked it up in the greek text btw and it is NOT plural it is SINGULAR”. Now I will cut and paste YOUR PROOF from the NIV. “…Heb 6:2 instruction about baptisms,” . And, you provided more proof by quoting KJV -” Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms.” Please note the plural-making-letter “S” on baptisms from both of YOUR insufficient proofs of it being singular. Huh? You don’t read what is written, you read from a pre-supposed mentality, wrong as it is. My “proof”? I wrote this statement – “Too often, we "think" our way of life is God-ordained. That’s one reason why the good ol’ USA is so unwelcomed in the world.” With wild imagination you, in so many words, attempt to rob me of my patriotism. I wholeheartedly agree with your “I was taught to love this freedom and this country, and that just like salvation my freedom has come at a great price.” Perhaps you recognize that price because your own family paid what mine paid. Or perhaps you only know “about” the cost of freedom by watching John Wayne movies. As a WW2 war-orphan, I know first hand the expense of freedom. My infantry officer father in the US Army was killed in action in Germany shortly before the end of WW2. And, as your family, the survivors of mine love this land. because we were war-orphans, my brothers and I were exempt from military duty. As we became of age we joined, against my mother's wishes. So she had a MP son in the Army, a LT in the Marines, a radar tec in the Air Force, and a sailor (me) in the Navy. This is also part of the price that was paid for YOU. Please, re-read the only comment about this great land of ours and try again to tell me HOW I “criticized” this wonderful country. What prompted you to state, “I feel like if you do not appreciate this country I am sure there will be one less generous willing to welcome you in”? Your comment was not only unwarranted, it was uncalled for and most certainly without a smidgen of worthwhile merit, as was much of the rest of your comments. My original comment stands. It was tied to my comment giving reference to your faulty “evidence” about a woman taking her husband’s name as proof that we are to baptize in Jesus name only. The good ol’ USA too often DOES think that our ways ARE God’s ways, and this falsehood is as contrary to Scripture as insisting that baptism MUST be according to one’s minute understanding of God’s mighty word. I have seen firsthand the evidence in numerous countries. Teaching the rest of the world that “taken the man’s name in marriage” is ONE of many such wrongs the good ol’ USA attempts to pass on as ordained of God. Thank for proving my point about us attempting to force “our culture” on the rest of the world. You correctly stated, and I cut and paste what you wrote - “I was using a cultural example.” Blessings, Taleb P.S. Your statement: “FOURTHLY, now I want to apologize ahead if I seem a little rude or upset,” - I forgive you and accept the apology offered. Thanks. |

23 | Why not Baptize as Jesus said to? | Acts 19:5 | Taleb | 107984
Punkiedo, I’m sorry, but your note provided more questions than answers. For instance: What made you write – “when a lady gets married she is suppose to take on her husband's name”? Is there are a Bible verse that tells a woman she is suppose to? From my experience of living in the Middle East, the wife keeps her last name and the children take on the mother’s last name. Also, we have ministered with certain tribes in Latin America where their children also take on their mother’s name. Too often, we "think" our way of life is God-ordained. That’s one reason why the good ol’ USA is so unwelcomed in the world. One verse that contradicts that particular thought of yours is Gen. 2:34 “That’s why a MAN WILL LEAVE HIS own father and mother He will cleave to his wife, and the two become one flesh.” Who did it say will "leave" HIS family? Your statement “And jesus was baptized unto JOHN's baptism at that time …,” reminded me of Mark 10:39 “…and Jesus said to His disciples, ‘You shall drink from the cup from which I must drink. And you will be baptized just as I must!’ According to the above verse, were Jesus and His disciples re-baptized, or was Jesus referring to one of the OTHER baptisms that Heb 6:2 lists as “doctrine of baptisms”? (Note “baptisms” are in the plural.) Are we to use the "name of Jesus" in our dealings with the other baptisms too? I noted you dropped a few IMPORTANT words in your sentence “If you are baptized in the name of the father son and holy ghost” …If you had worded it correctly, I would have answered it without comment. Had you asked (as it is in the Greek) “If you are baptized in the name of the father, AND OF THE Son, AND OF THE Holy Ghost, whose follower are you?” (Emphasis mine.) That’s easy. I AM HIS follower. Praise HIS name. Blessings, Taleb |

24 | Why not Baptize as Jesus said to? | Acts 19:5 | Taleb | 107939
Punkiedo, according to the definitions of the word ‘name’, when Jesus’ cousin John baptized people, whose “name” did he use? In Acts 19, a dozen believers, asked about their baptism, told Paul that they had been baptized “unto John’s baptism”. They were quickly re-baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. We need to understand this tells us that they were baptized under the “authority” of Jesus' name. “Name” (what people call you) is only part of what the word signifies. A police officer shouting, “Stop in the NAME of the law”, gives us a wonderful example of what Scripture is trying to convey in Act 19:7. Jesus said, “I give you authority to … in my name”. That authority comes the same way jurisdictions have the authority to give authority to a policeman, equipping him with the "power" to be able to “stop” people's cars merely by holding up a hand. If you notice what Acts 19:13,15 shares about the “name of Jesus”, it will help you understand what I am saying. “But certain traveling Jews who practiced exorcism undertook to name over those that had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, ‘We exercise you by Jesus whom Paul preaches..’ But answering the evil spirit said, ‘I know Jesus, and I comprehend Paul, but who are you?’” Nothing at all would happen if I shouted to anybody, “Stop in the name of the law.” I have NO authority to do so, is the reason. The “name of the law” (notice "law" is singular) distributes “authority” concerning ALL laws, much the same as Jesus does to His people. And it is that authority that empowers people to be baptized. People don't respond to a policeman's command with, "Which law? There are thousands of laws." Acts doesn't say, "And Paul (or Peter, or Matthew) said, 'I baptize you in the name of Jesus.'" Happy New Year, Taleb |

Chochma, taking certain sections of Scripture out of context has led you to the erroneous conclusion that they contradict one another. In reality, (you do understand reality, don’t you?) The author of James CONFIRMS the book of Romans. Read Romans 5:3-4 and James 1:3, read Romans 2:13 and James 1:22 together and read Romans 7:23 together with James 4:1 and 1 Pet 2:11, and tell us again that James and Romans contradict. In reality, they all agree with ALL of Scripture. The book of Hebrews, which points out the end of the Law that God gave to Moses, spends an entire chapter revealing the truth of James’ exposition concerning the truth of "faith without works is dead". Hebrews 11 (the faith chapter, if you will) deals specifically with the WORKS of those listed. Paul, the author of Romans, also preached much about the combination of faith and works in his other epistles. Peter ties faith and works together. Your – “Deuterononomy ch 4 tells us to not accept additions to what Moses has given ,,, So based upon our agreed method we must strike Deuteronomy or eveything there after as contradiction..You choose” – That explains exactly where your illogical concept came from and how you accept such foolishness. 1 Cor 2:14 is not to taken lightly. Sadly, your conclusion is evidence that particular portion of Scripture is very accurate. We will be praying that He lead you into ALL truth, through His Word, by His Holy Spirit. Taleb |

26 | Why do we have Jesus stuck in a manger? | Col 2:16 | Taleb | 107768
Norm, your postings are confusing me. Your idea of taking “pagan customs and try to make them Christian” seems to be a wrong basis for NOT doing something. Please answer some questions to help me understand your thoughts. Thank you. If you believe we must abstain from “pagan custom” - What do you use to sweep your home since “pagan customs” have witches flying on brooms? Or do you use Isa 14:23 to counterbalance that superstition? “…and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, saith the Lord of Hosts.” Witches observe the Sabbath, so we shouldn’t, right? And if “doing what pagans do" makes us pagan, does it make them Christians when they do what Christians do? The Jews use the moon to map out their festivals, as the Lord instructed them in the OT And, the Christmas story has men "looking to the stars for direction". Was it "Christian", or was it "pagan" for the Jews and the wise men to use astrology as such, seeing Scripture instucts AND warns about such? Was Paul using “deceitful means” in his dealings with pagans? 1 Cor 9:19-21 “I am not anyone’s slave. But I have become a slave to everyone, so that I can win as many people as possible. When I am with the Jews, I live like a Jew to win Jews. They are ruled by the Law of Moses, and I am not. But I live by the Law to win them. And when I am with people who are not ruled by the Law, I forget about the Law to win them…” Now back to whether or not to celebrate Chrsitmas - In my experiance, the cynical, seem so narrow they need both eyes to peek through the tiny keyhole of their limited interpretation of “this topic”. Which “wins the most souls” around this time of year? Those of "your camp"? Or, do those who understand the wonders of Christmas, and celebrate Jesus’ birth to its fullest "win" more? Blessings and thanks in advance for giving me a clearer understanding, Taleb |

Scripture doesn't say how old Noah's wife was, or her name. It says that Noah was 500 years old when he begat Shem, Ham and Lamech. Unless Noah "robbed the cradle", I'd say his wife was very old, wouldn't you? :) Blessings, Taleb |

29 | Why do we have Jesus stuck in a manger? | Col 2:16 | Taleb | 107615
Norm, what I love about history is it always and only involves HIS-story. And, as Searcher rightly stated, before Jesus could die for my sins, He FIRST had to be born. That said, I must say, the "history of Christmas" explains "the birth of Jesus." Christmas involves Jesus birth and majesty - period. The facts surrounding His virgin birth were important enough to prophecy about through numerous prophets, and it was important enough for God to dispatch numerous angels to broadcast the fact to poor shepherds, as well as a group of men who travel far merely to honor the birth of God who came in the flesh. The facts surrounding His birth were important enough for half of the gospel writers to include His Story in their gospels. The angels declared to the shepherds, “…I bring you good news of a GREAT JOY that is to be felt by ALL PEOPLE.” (You and I were included in that statement). "That news" wasn’t about the shed blood of Jesus on the cross. It wasn’t about the empty tomb. It WAS about the wonderful news of His birth. The Lord Jesus Christ’s birth IS important, because it helps us understand its beauty. Simeon’s words revealed he was waiting for Jesus birth, so he himself could die. Simeon KNEW the wonderful benefits Jesus’ birth introduced. Anna, the prophetess widow, didn’t benefit from His death, but the whole world benefited from what the Christmas story reveals about her. How dare we attempt to belittle the joyous season of remembering Immanuel’s (God with us) birth? Blessings, Taleb |

Norm, I understand HOW you could make the mistake of assuming that 1 Chron 24:10 meant the priest served one month each. You are not the first one to wrongly conclude such. I have, in years gone by, “read” about HOW your calculations were concluded. Let’s try the Biblical approach again, shall we? This time lets do it according to the REAL time for the “priests’ service”. The reference you provided is specifically for the chief fathers’ and captains’ courses, NOT priests. We need to use the orders and courses of the priests and Levites in their ministrations. Josephus Bk 7 Chapter 14:7 (365) “… and he ordained that one course should minister to God eight days, from Sabbath to Sabbath.” This is confirmed in 2 Chron 23:8. The Temple was destroyed in 70 A.D and, according to rabbinical tradition; at the time of its destruction, the priestly course of Jehoiarib was serving. Unless the priestly service was broken sometime during those years between its destruction and John's father, (Abijab’s lot) Zacharius would have been serving the first week of “our” October. This puts Jesus’ conception in March and His birth right back in December. Neither yours nor mine calculations can be proven conclusively. Many assumptions MUST be made, as you correctly stated. Things like – did the annual feasts ever interrupt the order of courses? What happened every 3 years of so when another month was added to their calendar? So, to reiterate the importance of "Christmas" once again – Christ the Lord WAS born, the angels rejoiced, the shepherds rejoiced – why can’t we, who benefit more than those who witnessed the actual event, rejoice louder? Blessings, Taleb |

31 | Info on the day of Jesus' birth | Col 2:16 | Taleb | 107491
Hello, Bcollier. While what Makarios has written has merit, that is only one side of the multifaceted December 25th debate that has raged on for 19 or so centuries. Justin Martyr (c. 100-165) wrote in his “Apology” (I, 34) in an statement to the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, concerning actual census records, “as you can ascertain also from the registers of the taxing” that indicate Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Another author, Tertullian’s (c.160-250) “Against Marcion”, Bk 4, 7 makes mention to “the census of Augustus – that most faithful witness of the Lord’s nativity, kept in the archives of Rome”. When Julius was asked by Cyril of Jerusalem (348-386) to designate the true date of Christ’s birth from the census documents tht Titus brought back to Rome, Julius gave Dec. 25th. John Chrysostom (c.347-407), also referred to those records to support his claim Jesus’ birth occurred on Dec 25. Noting, that the best time for a census was AFTER workers could leave their labors in the field, rather then having them leave their fields. And recognizing the fact that travel from Nazareth via the Jordan valley (way below sea level) would provide them comfortable travel because of the continual mild winter conditions considering it is arid. From Alfred Edersheim’s “The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah”, one can learn of the many ancient Jewish sources which, in effect, state “flocks remain in the open alike in the hottest days and in the rainy season – i.e. all the year round” (Bk 2, p.186). Much like Jacob mentions to his father-in-law concerning all the years Jacob spent tending the flocks (Gen. 31:40). “... in the day draught consumed me, and the FROST by night …” (emphasis mine). And, although it might only add fuel to the burning confusion of Jesus’ actual birthday, there are always those who accept Valentius’ influence – January 6. Although that places us right back into the “winter solace” theme again. I can only say, “Yea and amen” to Makarios’ well phrased exhortation. Like Paul said in so many words -- So what? Jesus IS being proclaimed! The important thing isn’t WHEN Jesus was born. It is the facts OF Jesus’ birth, and the WHY. Blessings, Taleb |

Merry Christmas, Tim. Thank you for the ongoing words of wisdom that this forum experiances because of your writings. May this joyous season of acknowledging our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ's birth, reign in your home. From the American Translation I offer this word for you and yours from Him. Hebrews 13:20-21 "May God, the giver of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus who through the blood which He ratified the everlasting agreement has become the Great Shepherd of the sheep, fit you, Tim Moran, by EVERY blessing to do His will, and through Jesus Christ carry out in us what will please Him. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen!" And again I say - Merry Christmas! Taleb P.S. Jesus IS!!!! |

33 | Is Jesus YHWH? | OT general | Taleb | 107222
Aniset, you stated, “Since Jehovah is eternal and had no beginning (Ps 90:2; Re 15:3), the Word's being with God from "the beginning" must here refer to the beginning of Jehovah's creative works. You wrote: “Jesus himself credited God with the creation, as do all the Scriptures.-Mt 19:4-6” Not true! If you read Psalm 89:20-27, you will better understand how Scripture interrupts Scripture. David was the youngest of Jesse’s sons, yet God declared He would make David “the first-born”. God didn’t change the “order of David’s birth”. God meant by “the first born” that David would have preeminent over all the kings of Israel. David is still considered Israel’s “best”. In the context of Col. 1:15, we learn that Col 1:16 informs us “for by Him (Jesus Christ) were ALL things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: ALL things were created by Him (Jesus Christ) and for Him (Jesus Christ).” Surely you are not suggesting that Jesus created Himself, since it clearly states Jesus is the creator of all. This is often confirmed in Scripture. Like Eph 2:9 “…mysteries, which from the beginning of the world have been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.” Concering your claim Col 1:15; Re 1:1; 3:14) –“Thus the Scriptures identify the Word (Jesus in his prehuman existence) as God's first creation, his firstborn Son.” Haven’t you NOTICED what else Revelation declares concerning the term “the beginning”? Rev 21:6-7 states that the Alpha and Omega, the BEGINNING and the end … I will be their God…” God places Himself in context with the beginning AND the end. Apparently, “beginning” (the Greek word “arche”, from Rev. 3:14) MEANS something other than what you thought. It is the same word we get architect from. In other verses it is translated governor, magistrates, first, principalities. It is also the same word that you will find in Luke 12:11. “arche” is translated “government officials”. Taking Scripture as a whole, Rev. 3:14 IS plainly talking about Jesus Christ (the creator of all things), is the ruler of God’s creation. Blessinigs, Taleb |

34 | How can I answer Jehovah Witnesses? | 1 Pet 3:15 | Taleb | 107111
TommyS. Good question. Too many refuse to witness to those who need witnessing to the most – those who don’t have any of what they are attempting to “sell” – truth. A verse popped into my head when I read your question. Revised Berkley Version of 1 Peter 3:15 (although this is “out of context” like they ALWAYS quote the word) “…revere Christ in your heart as Lord and be always ready to make a defense to every one who asks you for a reason of the hope that is within you; but do it gently and reverently.” Before one can witness to one of a different “faith” ( I have to use that term, in spite of the fact JW’s and other such cults have a total lack of what faith is), one should know somewhat what they do believe. Do you know what JW’s believe, or are you merely guessing from “hear-say”? Although it has been years (they refuse to come to my house now), I have used THEIR material to prove them wrong. They are clumsy at obtaining honest data and it becomes obvious as they attempt to counter react to what Scripture says. If you have an abundance of JW’s in your area, talk to them. Let them ramble. Ask questions, without making comments. This way you will learn what they learn – how to make a “pitch”. Once you know their “pitch”, you can be better prepared to throw a “curve ball” before they “toss” their “home-run”. It will frustrate them, but, often, it will enable you to show them the error of their blind ways. The reason I quoted the above Scripture is for you to make sure to be gentle with them. Arguing gives them “war stories” to bring back to their meetings. Jesus used this “tactic” often in His ministry, if you read between the lines of His Word. Blessings, and Merry Christmas, Taleb P.S. To give you a clue about it being obvious about pagan’s inventing mens pants allow me to be brief. “God commanded man and woman to be fruitful and multiply.” Now do you understand? |

35 | Christmas | Jer 10:1 | Taleb | 107076
I appreciated your thought, Aixenyz4 - “Therefore we are also free to invent religious ceremonies or import strange practices into the church”… because it shows that you CAN understand exactly where Tim and others who experience the joys of this Christmas, Hanukkah or Chanukah season. We are free to worship Him as David did when he saw the ark was coming up the road – with dancing and … Then, you tossed a foul ball, when you added, “But God has not left it up to us to decide what we should remember and celebrate and do. He tells us what he wants.” Where is the verse that states the God wanted the Jews to celebrate what John the Apostle wrote in John 10:22: “It was the time when the feast of the Dedication WAS BEING celebrated in Jerusalem. It was winter and Jesus was in the Temple walking up and down in the Portico of Solomon.” WHY would John mention a “celebration of the rebirth of a temple built with hands” that was apparently pleasing to God, yet, some people today preach that the “celebration of the birth of the firm once and for all foundation of the temple built without hands” be considered pagan? I can’t imagine an answer either. What exactly was happening during the “celebration” John mentioned? The one that the God DIDN’T decide, but the Jews “themselves decreed by public edict, ratified by vote, that the whole Jewish nation should CELEBRATE those same days EVERY year.” 2 Maccabees 10:8 Eight days are STILL set aside beginning on the 25th of the Jewish month which happens to be “THIS month, on a different day than “our” 25th, BUT the same month. What happens during this every year “celebration”? Besides the lighting of candles, there is many gifts exchanged, music, extra festive food, gathering together of family, friends … Does it sound familiar yet? If your church sings old worship songs, how many carry the tunes from the taverns. Many do, you know. Words of praise and adoration sung to tunes once carrying an opposite theme. Please, in order to fulfill your heart’s plea – that which you wrote to Tim – “Since we have so much freedom, why not use it in the area that God has suggested? Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works. Let's see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out in times of need” – abide by what Paul admonished so eloquently in Romans. 14:6a “The one who observes special days does so in honor of the Lord.” 14:22 “Hold on to your OWN belief, as between yourself and God, and consider the man fortunate who can make his decision without going against his conscience.” Blessings, Taleb P.S. In case you really want to know – it had to be pagan who invented men’s pants. :) The reasoning is obvious |

36 | Christmas | Jer 10:1 | Taleb | 107048
Aniset, was it the Christian men or was it the pagans, that began to wear pants instead of robes like Jesus and all the prophets? Jesus and His disciples used to eat with their fingers, as many still do in that part of the world. Is it of Christian or pagan origin to put silverware into our mouths? I have noticed other pagan origins that many Christians observe, and with God’s blessings. Hindus immersion for purification predates John the Baptist. Pre-Moses, only the high priest could enter into the sacred rooms of pagan gods. Deut 12:3 instructs the Jews to break down altars and smash pillars in the false god’s temples. This was pre-first temple days. What did God have Moses place in the “temple”? Sacred rooms which only the high priest could enter, along with altars, pillars. The Jews were warned against making an image of anything, as the pagans did, in Exodus 20:4. Yet, in Exodus 21:8 GOD TOLD MOSES TO MAKE AN IMAGE of a poisonous snake. How pagan!! Worshippers of satan have always used the time of the full moon for their rites - even preMoses. Yet, most of the Jewish festivals(which began AFTER the pagans practiced theirs) are based upon the times of the full moon. Your claim that something that “of pagan origin” is not to be celebrated has way too many holes. Check out the names of the weekdays in any good dictionary and try to find one without a “pagan origin”. SUN day. MOON day, TIW’S day, WODEN’S day, THOR’S day, FRIG’S day, and SATURN’s day. Notice WHO they are named after. Least you believe you should change the days of the week and use Jewish days, their days come from Babylonian days - otherwise known as "pagan". I even appreciate those who call Christmas "X-Mas", because I realize that X stands for Christ, and it has since the days of the early church – or whatever we should call the gathering together of saints, seeing that pagan word “Church” has a pagan origin – the English Celtics’ circle of trees or stones. Merry Christmas, Taleb |

Norrie, I have read much similar poppy-cock as depicted in that site you suggested. Because that author refused to fully understand what Scripture’s Author passed on to us, the human author’s misinterpretation resulted. The false claim against celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior (whatever day it falls upon) too often descends into self-righteousness, false humility and bitterness, as that article so readily proved. Many wrongly conclude that Jeremiah preached against “Christmas trees”. He preached against making idols with hands, feet, mouths and ears, out of trees. I have yet to see any Christmas tree walk or hear one talk – have you? Through the centuries, some revere the “sun”, yet what does Malachi 4:2 promise? “You who revere My name, there will arise ‘the SUN of righteousness’, with healing in its wings.” And read what Scripture says about shepherds in that part of the world watching their flocks on a cold winter’s night. (Genesis 31:40) As far as the word ChristMAS “proving” anything – to quote another Christmas story – “Bah Humbug!” If ANYTHING that has a smidgen of “paganism” is to always be avoided, without exception, DON”T EVER GO to church. The English word ‘church’ originates from the old English word “circe”. It was the word that described the circles of “trees” or stones used by the Celtics. But, nobody today thinks of going to “church” as being associated with classical mythology, right? I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Taleb |

JCrichton, like I wrote to Tess, "our" calendar was changed. December, now the 12th month, USED to be the 10th month of the Roman year, it's name actually comes from our word "decimal", like October comes from the number 8. Actually, when July and August were inserted into "our" present day calendar, all the other months moved up two. This hurried explanation might offer more questions than it answers, but here goes. The Jew's had two separate calendars. A civil one, which was the "official" one used for contracts, childbirths etc. and a sacred one, which was used to compute festivals. Every 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, and 19th year had an extra month (called "Ve-Adar) inserted into their year". It was added right after "Adar" - their (6th civil) 12th sacred month. Realizing "how" the Jews figured the passing of their time, and how it fluctuated from year to year, meant the "10th month of their year" wouldn't necessarily be the 10th month of our present day year. Stating that "December" as such is too cold for the shepherd’s to discount “December 25” as a possible date, doesn't mean it wasn’t the 10th month of the year which Jesus was born, as I spelled out above I heartily agree with what so many others have written, and written well. In effect, they have said, celebrating Dec. 25th doesn't add or subtract from the fact that Christ Jesus came as a baby to die as a man. The light of the world WAS born. So what if it happened to be at a time when the Jews celebrated the fact that they had light for eight days without needing to replenish their oil. So what that 8 days after Jesus was born, he was brought into the temple. So what that many Jews still celebrate the fact that the installation of their temple's foundation on the 25th month of their "DECember". “Let God arise and His enemies be scattered”. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Chanukah! Taleb |

Tess, are you forgetting “our” calendar was changed? Is that the reason you feel Jesus wasn't born in "December"? John, Jesus' cousin was conceived shortly after Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), which is on the tenth day of Tishre (our Sept- Oct.). So John would have born in Tummuz (June-July), and Jesus was born about six months later. Luke’s CHRISTMAS story spells out all the fine details. I don't believe for one second these "dates" are in Scripture just to fill Bible pages. You can - IF you honestly don't desire to acknowledge the Almighty hand of a God in full control of this universe The Jewish month Kislev corresponds with "our" Nov-Dec. It is their ninth month. Read Haggai 2:18f and discover for yourself what it says about the 24th of Kislev (sometimes spelled Chislev) (our Dec) about the foundation of the Lord's temple being laid. The Jews have continued to celebrate this activity for centuries, long BEFORE any Druids thought up any holiday for Dec. 24-25. Cross reference that to 1 Cor. 3:11 where it spells out WHO is the “temple’s” foundation - Jesus Christ. And His people are His temple. By the way - HAPPY HANUKKAH! Today is the day Jews begin their eight days celebration with their "Feasts of Dedication". They remember the miracle of not running out of oil. Around the world, the candles being lit will be accompanied by blessings and chanting the hymn rock of ages, (Maoz Tzur). Jesus Christ is MY Rock of Ages. Blessings, Taleb |

40 | 7 candlesticks and the 7 stars | Rev 1:20 | Taleb | 106517
Your answer is in your question. Rev. 1:20: "As to the mystery of the seven STARS that you saw in My right hand, and of the lampstands, the seven STARS are angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands ARE the seven churches. This clue gives us "permission" to use other CLUES about the "stars" from the rest of Scripture. While some erroneously proclaim the "literal heaven and earth" will be destroyed, Scripture paints quite a different picture. Psalm 148:6 explains. Blessings, Taleb |
