101 | Help on the 69th, 70th Week of Daniel | Dan 9:24 | Taleb | 80070
Amber, just like truthfinder explained, it IS DONE, FINISHED, FULFILLED. In order to "get any text" to support a so-called "future happening", like that erroneous doctrine spelled out by too many untaught teachers, you must first ignore Scripture throughout. The ‘fiction” writers talk about a "New" Temple being rebuilt. Where does Scripture talk about such? It doesn’t. It only talks about the destruction of the temple which was destroyed in 70 A.D. The same time and event that Daniel wrote about. Right to the year. The ONLY rebuildings of the Temples is found in Old Testament. Every “promise” of the rebuilding WAS WRITTEN before it was rebuilt. Therefore, and forevermore, those prophecies have been fulfilled. In a failed attempt for the "futuristic's" doctrine to sound feasible, they had to ADD the phoney concept that “one prophecy can have two fulfillments” Really? And where in Scripture can you find such a concept? Their reply says it all. "Well, it isn’t in Scripture, but surely that is what God means." Really? I always thought that God ONLY said what He meant. Reading the New Testament, Hebrews for example, discounts any such false notion about rebuilding a future Temple made with hands. In the Old Testament, BEFORE the rebuilding of the temple that Jesus promised would be destroyed, is the only place it is mentioned. And of course the fulfillment was WHEN IT WAS rebuilt, just as the prophecy said it would be. All the old church historians spells out these well-documented facts. Josephus, for one, an eyewitness to the fulfillment of Daniel 9, is one place to start. Every library should have one. Respectfully Taleb |

102 | Pick prophcies we want, ignore others? | Rev 11:1 | Taleb | 79990
Searcher, wow, you sound like you are ready to burst a blood vessel. Perhaps I should have asked which English Bible translation I am “supposed” to use. My mistake was not quoting one that you use. For that I apologize. I’m grateful I didn’t use one of my many because that would have really confused you. For a small example: Berkley says, “On a wing of horrors shall a desolator come.” The Jerusalem Bible says, “On the wing of the temple will be the disastrous abomination.” King James says, “The spreading of abominations he shall make desolate.” New American says, “On the temple wing shall be the horrible abomination.” The Authorized says, “For the overspreading of abominations he shall make desolate.” New King James says, “On the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate.” New International Version says, “And on the wing, of the temple, he shall set up an abomination that causes desolation.” An American Translation says, “While in their place there shall be a desolating abomination.” The Literal Translation says, “And on the corner of the altar, desolating abominations.” The Hebrew Translation says, “Upon a wing as abominations a desolator even until the end.” There are others with "different" renderings, but I figured these should be sufficient. :) I was wondering about one of your questions. I copied it here for you. “Who gave you the authority to pick and choose which parts of the prophecy of Daniel?” I’m sorry, Searcher; who are you asking this question, ALL of the different translators of the few Bibles I quoted from, or who? One interesting note that you should be happy to notice is the word “WING” used in the above Scriptures. Which Strong’s 3671 do you feel “fits” best? The one in 1 Samuel 24:4, 5,11 where it talks about the CORNER (3671) of Saul’s robe, or 2 Kings 8:6 where it talks about the WINGS (3671) of the cherubims, or perhaps the one in Job 37:3 where it mentions the ENDS (3671) of the earth? Fascinating, isn’t it, the fact that the Romans used an EAGLE as their symbol. The fact that the Roman Army had EAGLE bearers. The fact that the 3-D WINGS of the eagle were on many of their shields. Check out the web site on Roman Army Eagles. They even have pictures. I found it especially interesting to read what so many commentaries mentioned about this portion of Daniel, and how the same commentaries match Matthew 24:15 WITH Daniel 9:27. I located a number of these commentaries on Crosswalk.com. What makes it especially interesting is the FACT that EVERY author from the first century till the middle of 1800's agree. After Darby and others like him got a hold of a 15-year-olds dream - writings changed to what they are today. Hum. Respectfully, Taleb P.S. About that "when" instead of "Since", seeing A.D.70 WAS about 40 years into the FUTURE - Jesus choice of the word "WHEN" FIT PERFECTLY. Amen? |

Searcher, sorry it took me to long to return a response. Has your modem ever gone “haywire”? To answer these questions quickly, let me ask you one. Your answer will answer these questions for you. Do you know what the Greek word is for “the first day of the WEEK?” Sabbaton. Strong’s 4521. It is same word translated "week" is translated Sabbath everywhere else. Interesting. Also, in Paul's day and age, (even in many places in the world today) Gentiles worked every day. They didn't keep track with a 7-day week. Jews worked at the most six days in a row, depending on how many "sabbaths" there were. And about when did workers get paid in Corinth? The day they worked was pay day. Matthew 20:1-16 talks about a day’s wage for a day’s work. It is still the same in most of the world today. At the end of the day, everyone is paid. Surely you didn’t think they had pay days like we do, where the employers withholds the first week or two? Respectfully, Taleb |

Hello Joe, Thank you for your thought provoking response. I understand perfectly where your concerns are coming from. That is one problem with ‘back and forth” dialog, rather than face to face. In moments, rather than days, or longer, one can clarify what is meant in any comment. I appreciate your respect, Joe, and your spiritual maturity demonstrated in your postings. That said, let’s look at what you wrote and how it fits in our discussion. You wrote, “First of all, I would like a little more clarification. Are you suggesting that Paul either lies or is mistaken in 1 Corinthians 14:34 when he says: "for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says." Paul is largely talking about women being in subjection to their husbands in corporate worship (verse 11:3). We read the following in the Torah: "Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you." --Genesis 3:16 Joe, Let me make myself clear – I do not take what Scripture says lightly. Everything is for our “instruction”, if you will. But not everything is pertinent for our lives. Romans 14 helps us to understand the differences in “cultures” from place to place. What you are permitted to do in one place, would be “out-of-place” someplace else. Paul, as a “world traveler” would notice the differences in the ways things are done, said, thought. He would, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, act and speak accordingly. Now, I must say, your tying Gen 3:16 to this passage in Cor. doesn’t exactly fit. I have many study Bibles. In some of those Bibles, I have also read that “conclusion” about Gen. But it still doesn’t fit. Why doesn’t it fit? Because of what Paul wrote: “just as the Law also says”. And we must realize that Gen. 3:16 ISN’T A LAW. LAWS ARE TO BE OBEYED. How can a woman OBEY, or, for that matter, disobey Gen. 3:16? Again, I promise you, there is NO LAW about this to be found in God’s Word. If you have access to the Talmud, you will find exactly to what Paul was referring. But the Talmud is man-made laws, and the Torah is God-made. Was Paul saying they were to obey man rather than God? Why would Paul do exactly the opposite of what so many other letters warn against? Didn’t he mean what he said about their not being male or female from God’s prospective? Thank you, Joe, for the “tip” on the website. My computer time is often hit and miss, but I will check it out. :) Respectfully, Taleb |

105 | ever neccessary/permissable to deceit? | Luke 24:31 | Taleb | 79544
Is it ever neccessary/permissable to deceive? 1 Samuel 16:1-3, in effect, states that the Lord was grieved He had made Saul king. The Lord instructed Samuel to go to Jesse of Bethlehem and anoint one of Jesse’s sons as king. Samuel said, “How can I go? Saul will hear of it and kill me.” The Lord didn't tell Samuel, "Don't worry, I'll protect you from him." God could have protected Samuel, but, rather the Lord answered: “Take a heifer along and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord’. Interesting! Often during the days of the Iron Curtain, when those many countries were closed to the Gospel, men and women smuggled tons of Bibles into the land. At the borders, the guards would sometimes ask, “Do you have any Bibles?” The smugglers would be instructed to tell the truth – just not the “whole truth”. They would often have two Bible handy. They would produce a Bible and say, “Yes, I have one right here.” “Do you have more?” They would retrieve the other Bible, reserved for the occasion, look the guard in the eye and tell the truth. “Yes, I also have this one. Would you like it for yourself?” Whether or not the guard took the Bible, the hundreds of others in their possession would enter undetected. Was it “deception”? What was it when the angel helped Peter escape from prison undetected? What was it when Rahab hid the spies? What was it when Esther invited Haman to “supper”, so she could expose his hideous plans to her husband, the king? How many "more" do we need to reveal from Scripture to realize we are in a battle and, because the enemy desires to deceive us, we can surely deceive him? But those two on the road were not deceived because the end result of deception is one believes something that isn't "exactly" true. Those men believed Jesus had risen from the grave - and it still is true. :) Respectfully, Taleb |

106 | Women and hair | 1 Cor 11:5 | Taleb | 79526
Hello Joe, You stated, “Paul cites not cultural stipulations, but rather the Law to support his argument.” Please, where in the law is his argument stated? Don’t look too hard, because IT IS NOT in Scripture. Have you noticed the first verse of 1 Cor. Chapter 11? Paul wrote, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” This must have really confused the church in Corinth when Paul wrote any man who covers his head while praying etc, dishonors Christ (don’t forget, Paul has already instructed us to understand that Christ is the head of every man.) Where does such a statement place 2 Cor. 3:15-17? Romans 14:23? Col. 3:10-11? Too many others? Leviticus 7:13, Moses clothed Aaron’s sons with tunics and put turbans on them, as the Lord commanded. Lev. 10:6 instructs priest, (a man?) “Do NOT BARE your head…” And when Paul wrote about “nature itself teaching it is dishonorable for a man to wear long hair … what did they think? Reading Acts 18 reminds me how Paul let his hair grow long, IN CORINTH of all places. And what about the “teaching” of 1 Cor 11:10 “For THIS REASON a woman ought to have a sign of submission on her head” … (what reason?) “Because of the angels”. Huh? Is this Paul’s teaching? Where did such a notion about the angels come from? Or, is this in reference to what the church of Corinth had adopted as explained in the letter referred to in the beginning of the epistle AND in chapter 7:1 where it talks about matters? (plural). Every place where “angels” talked with women, it says nothing about them covering their heads. I'm sticking with my conclusion. Woman don’t HAVE to wear veils, they CAN pray out loud in church, etc. From where do I draw such a conclusion? 1 Tim 2:9 talks about woman wearing what? Head-coverings? Nope. Had they worn head coverings, how would anyone know if it was braided or not? And here it talks about men raising their hands in prayer. Is that the only way God answers prayers? Did Jesus always raise His hands? What about the one Jesus commended? He pounded his chest as he prayed. Respectfully, Taleb |

Hello, Joe, I agree with you TO a point. Often I quote 2 Tim 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired of God, and is useful for teaching, useful for correction, and useful for training in righteousness” ---- Useful, how? “So that the person of God may be fully equipped for all good work.” Isn’t “sharing” the gospel “good work?” Women aren't allowed to do that? I'm not going to tell that to all the woman on this forum that they "aren't allowed" to answer questions, and if they need any answers to ask their husbands. Are you? How we apply Scripture MUST also take in consideration of how it was “applied” when the Holy Spirit inspired it to be written. I’m from the school where you keep things in context of not only the surrounding verses, but also Scripture itself. It’s not so much what does Paul say about ….(?) It IS about what does Scripture say about …(?) We CAN”T take and apply much of Scripture to our daily walk. It would be against all that God has taught us through the “other” Scriptures. The Scriptures have many “paradoxes.” Proverbs 26:4-5 is but one example. Depending upon the circumstances, culture, timing, plus other variables, we “apply or don’t apply” one, or the other, of those verses accordingly. Thanks for your kindly reminder of being careful. Yet, I need to stand by my original thought about what I stated, and I trust you can “feel” what I am carefully stating. Paul addressed specific situations that were tended to and dealt with the church in Corinth, that other churches didn’t have. And other churches had situations that he dealt with that other places didn’t have. That IS why he, and other "authors", addressed their specific letters to a specific church, need(s),or individual. Respectfully, Taleb |

108 | Women and hair | 1 Cor 11:5 | Taleb | 79293
The Book Man, so we are to take 1 Cor 14:35 about not speaking, to be silent - literally? Are the woman allowed to nod their acknowledgement, seeing they are not allowed to”speak”? Can they talk outside on the steps, or is that also forbidden, seeing Paul also mentioned about them “asking their husbands AT HOME? If you notice the ‘asking their husbands at home’ that should reveal the reason for this particular problem. Otherwise, is Paul saying the wife has TO BE AT HOME to ask her husband ANYTHING? Can you see where this is going? One “law” leads to another. But taking into consideration that Paul was ONLY writing to THAT church about a particular problem is evident. To demonstrate my point, I'll use your reference to 1 Cor 1:2. You wrote: “Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The epistle is not just addressed to the Corinthians, but to "all (who)... call upon the name of Jesus..." That includes you and me.” End quote. Did you notice the phrase “which IS AT Corinth”? Did you notice it doesn’t mention anyone else? Paul wasn’t writing that Epistle with 2,000 years later on his mind. He wrote his particular epistles according to the particular needs at a particular time to a particular people. Take, for example, 2 Cor. 1 (his third letter to them). “…unto the church of God which is IN CORINTH, WITH all the saints which are IN ALL Achaia.” That was the SMALL region of Greece, in which Corinth was located. Had Paul meant “the Christian church at large”, why didn’t he say so? Romans 14:22 Respectfully, Taleb |

The Book Man, you are right. We CAN’T discount Scripture. Do you know what an idiom is? If 1 Cor 14:35 isn’t an idiom, than are we to believe 1 Peter 3:3-4 isn’t one either? If that is the case, than woman are to stay naked – right? If 1 Cor 14:35 is an idiom, than that changes everything you just stated, doesn’t it? Otherwise, it sure can be confusing whether we are to obey the Old and wear gold as Solomon, David, Joseph, or obey 1 Tim 2:9 where pearls are listed as a no-no. If pearls are a no-no, why did Jesus express their value? “Don’t cast your pearls before swine.” The same Scripture that we can't discount has numerous "idioms" through-out. :) Respectfully, Taleb |

110 | I would like to learn more about this! | Acts 1:11 | Taleb | 79198
Jesus WARNED against being deceived on this very topic, the one area of the Christian faith in which MOST apparently ARE deceived. IF I was to take a survey on how many adhered to the dun-trib; or the pre-trib theory; or the mid-trib theory; or the post-trib theory; or the two rapture theory; or the pan-trib theory, which would receive the latest following? IF an equal amount of Christians believed each separate theory, that means that MORE THAN 83 PER CENT BELIEVE THE WRONG ONE. No wonder the world laughs at our rantings and ravings. The truth of the matter is ONLY ONE "theory" can be right. Yet, dogmatically, every one uses the very same Scriptures to back "their personal view-point" up, and they ALL disprove the other theories. Besides ignoring the blatant clues, that stand out for the world to see, in those same portions of Scripture. Some people I have talked with have never heard of any “theory” except their own. I often have that same reaction when I discover someone is an evolutionist. I ask them which evolutionary theory they believe? Their expression usually demonstrates their total ignorance of that faulty science. More often than not, they, like the followers of the various rapture theories never had a clue that all the others disprove theirs, no matter which evolutionary theory they swear by. If you read through the last 1,800 years of church history, you will quickly discover that they ALL pretty much agreed. Now you can be deflocked from a church for believing THE BOOK over "their" books. Why can't we agree with Scripture and its followers and those through the ages? Jesus, and Paul, warned us not to allow ANY MAN to deceive us. Yet, sadly enough, today the "church at large" believes the authors of books - rather than the Author and finisher of our eternal lives. Respectfully, Taleb |

111 | Why did Jesus say "never again?" | Matt 24:21 | Taleb | 78822
CDBJ, we agree on SO many points. Let me show you which ones according, to when my agreement starts. 2 Thes. 2:1-4. I agree with what Paul wrote here. AND I agree it is connected with Dan 9:27, BUT I also note that the 27th verse is connected to the 23rd. through the 26th. There lies the clues that your “book” failed to point out to you. Daniel gives us exactly 490 years from when the city was decreed to be rebuilt until the desolation would happen. And please note that rebuilding started before Christ was born. Hello? I agree with this statement you made – 100 percent. “Isaiah describes this same condition that Daniel spoke of along with Jesus and Paul and lastly John in Revelation.” If you want specifics on about THEIR FULFILLMENTS you have to accept what HIS-story tells us – because the only thing left is “Prophesy books” that can’t do the math, that too often disprove themselves, and have no Scriptures to back up their false conceptions. Actually, I agree with MOST of the rest of your post, knowing the Scripture words were written with the author’s future in mind, BUT NOT OUR FUTURES. From HIS-story we know what they said was going to happen has happened. But your statement, “Because when the great tribulation is over it will mark the end of the times of the Genital, confused me. HUH? Surely your not thinking that the Rev.11:2 trodden for 42 months means something other than the 42 months the Romans warred in the streets of Jerusalem in the first century? In actuality, it was a few days more, but…. then Concerning the Jews returning to Israel as being a sign is A FRAUD. Name me one prophecy where it says they shall return – which hasn’t ALREADY BEEN FULFILLED. Because there is NO EVIDENCE in Scripture that says one prophecy can have two separate fulfillments, I don’t buy into that deception either. And many of my Jewish relatives will tell you the same thing. During the seven-day war was when the antichrist did what? Interesting, isn’t it, what a prophecy book can “prove”? Speaking of antichrist, have you read what John wrote in 1 John 4:3? He wrote it not of their future, but THEIR "THEN". “But the spirit of AntiChrist, whose coming you were warned about. Well, NOW HE IS HERE, IN THE WORLD.” And either the ANTICHRIST WAS IN THE WORLD, OR JOHN LIED. The antichrist DID all that Jesus, and Paul, etc. said he would do. HIS-story explains it very accurately. That is unless that is another one of those prophecies that have more than one fulfillment. :) But take heart, at least we agreed on some major points. For that we are pleased. :) Respectfully, Taleb Don’t be deceived that it has NOT happened already. :) |

112 | Rebuild a Temple? | Rev 11:1 | Taleb | 78775
Searcher, you’ve proven what point again? I’ve yet to see any of your points “proven” on this thread. Did I ever deny Jesus’ “when” wasn’t in the disciple’s future? Why does "when" have to 2,000 years after the facts? Because some fiction writer who doesn’t take Jesus at His word, as so many others do? Where do you get the wild idea Jesus was talking about “1290 days and the 1335 days as future”? To put it in plain English - Jesus KNEW the 1290 days AND the 1335 days referred to times past. He KNEW IT were fulfilled during the Babylonian conquest. His Disciples KNEW the 1290 days AND the 1335 days were fulfilled. Jesus and His disciples KNEW that Daniel 9:23-27 was DUE TO BE FULFILLED, and soon. It only had 40 years to go in order to accurately fulfill what Daniel said would happen within 490 years time. This accounts for why so many false Christs that Jesus warned about took place prior to 70 A.D. The times were ripe because Daniel PROMSISED the Messiah would come - when Jesus showed up on time, that is why so many accepted Him. But when he hadn't freed them from the Roman's - well ... If your “sources dare to suggest” that Jesus was referring to the Dan 11 and 12 portions – it’s past time to exchange that erroneous material for qualified truth. Reading Daniel instead of what books say about it helps. From Daniel you can ONLY learn that Daniel prayed in behalf of God’s people. Gabriel tells Daniel about the 70 weeks from the rebuilding of Jerusalem to the death of Jesus Christ, the Messiah whose life would be cut off, would be EXACTLY 490 years. THIS IS THE PROPHECY that Jesus reminded the disciples, as they left the same temple which had been rebuilt as was going to be soon destroyed, according to DANIEL 9’s prophecy. Don’t you notice which temple they left is the one Jesus said will be destroyed as Daniel said it would in Daniel 9:23-27? What’s with the word “WHEN” in reference to proving it’s still in the future? THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS AWAY UNTIL ALL IS FULFILLED. A generation is exactly 40 years. Is it a coincidence that exactly 40 years would pass from Jesus’ death until the same temple Jesus pointed out would be destroyed? “Do you see all THESE stones, not one will be left upon another?” He sure wasn’t talking about some “future temple” that STILL isn’t. He WAS talking about what was then and would NEVER exist again. Adam Clarke states; “Most learned men agree that the death of Christ happened at the passover in the month Nisan, in the four thousand seven hundred and forty-sixth year of the Julian period. Four hundred and ninety years, reckoned back from the above year, leads us directly to the month Nisan in the four thousand two hundred and fifty-sixth year of the same period; the very month and year in which Ezra had his commission from Artaxerxes king of Persia, (see Ezra 7:9), to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. See the commission in Ezra 7:11-26” About that Roman that you don’t believe did what was done. Was History your worse subject in school, or is it you just don’t believe what it says about what the Romans did in fact do in the temple? Did you know Josephus is available to you on the internet? I copied some for you to read a little. “And now the Romans, upon the flight of the seditious into the city, and upon the burning of the holy house itself, and of all the buildings round about it, brought their ensigns to the temple (24) and set them over against its eastern gate; and there did they offer sacrifices to them, and there did they make Titus imperator (25) with the greatest acclamations of joy.” Do you have any idea what “abomination of desolation” means to the Jew? Once again I have proven my point with Scripture, HIS-story, AND FACTS from reliable sources, and not from some late great planet earth type work. :) Respectfully, Taleb |

115 | Rebuild a Temple? | Rev 11:1 | Taleb | 78728
Searcher, you are right, almost. The 1290 days and the 1335 days don’t fit in Matthew 24:15 because Dan 11 and 12 WERE BOTH FULFILLED TOGETHER during the Babylonian’s destruction of the Temple. However, Daniel 9:23-27 FITS Matthew 24:15 perfectly. During that same 1st century time period, during that destruction of Israel, Dan. 9:27; Matt, 24:15; 2 Thess 2:4, plus every other prophecies written by John, Paul, Peter, and the Old Testament, concerning those events - were fulfilled. THE MESSIAH (the only ONE EVER) "JESUS" WAS CUT OFF not for Himself, but for us on the cross (Dan 9:26), then 37 years later, the city and Temple were destroyed by the prince Titus and he put a stop to the sacrifices, he posed himself as God in the temple, and then the “end of Israel” came. ALL EXACTLY AS HISTORY PROVES happened. To believe otherwise means there is going to be another Messiah cut off not for himself but others. What “proof” do you have that Revelations 11 was written after 70 A.D. because I have a number that say otherwise. Even some who don't agree with my "view". Be suspicous of any who tell you the exact dates. I think you will find those who date it later dated it to fit their doctrine. Searcher, if I may borrow your line - I think you need to rethink your view. Respectfully, Taleb |

116 | Why did Jesus say "never again?" | Matt 24:21 | Taleb | 78726
CDBJ – exactly. The point of my question was to point out the discrepancy in the “doctrine” of those looking for a great tribulation to come upon the whole globe in the near, or far future. BECAUSE the worst tribulation the world has ever endured HAPPENED 2,000 years ago, exactly as Daniel 9 said it would – and that being the case, Jesus’ “remark” makes perfect sense. HAD Jesus meant a “future Great Tribulation, than IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE for Jesus to add those words. Respectfully, Taleb |

Mommapbs, thank you stating “where you stand”. Like I stated, I used to believe likewise. In my research, and I love doing research, I have discovered how, and when, and who “invented” the doctrine about rapture. Until the mid-1800’s there was no such teaching. Interesting study. I’m so glad “our salvation” doesn’t depend on such. :) I am great friends who belief opposite to me. Respectfully, Taleb |

Joe! Because His word always reveals new truth “for the first time”, I trust I’ll say, “I’ll believe that too.” Too often we place ourselves, or God, in a box called "what we believe". If God is too big for such a box, and I want to grow to be more like Him, I had better stay out of “Titled boxes”. Thanks for your words. Respectfully, Taleb |
