22 | PLEASE EXPLAIN MATTHEW 19:8 | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 82886
Robert, A hard heart is a heart that has become insensitive. Ezekiel 36:26 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." When we compare our hurts and rejections with those of Christ and we compare our responses to these hurts to His response (Father forgive them..) we can see what our heart should be saying and what our heart is really saying. When scripture commands us to forgive in order to be forgiven, we are being taught a valuable lesson. If we do not believe in our hearts that others should be forgiven, how can we believe Him for our own mercy? We are all worthy of judgement, however sometimes we see others as more worthy. One other scripture that helps me with forgiveness is this one... Romans 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. Ask yourself..."Am I trying to punish...?" or "Am I affraid of betrayal or being hurt again?" God's Word has answers for both. I hope these scriptures have helped a little. Actual healing of the heart must come from God. God bless |

24 | Is not God inside of each of us? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 89483
Hello with faith i walk, Welcome, Our beliefs are our personal revelations. Personal experience is not a reliable guage for TRUTH. Jesus said "My Word is Truth". Experience confirmed by the Word of Truth is reliable. We are a very diverse group here on the forum...many different beliefs. Though occasionally one of us will share a personal experience, our personal experience is not likely to 'change' anyones beliefs. And in reality, neither does debating scripture it would seem. But if we share both, purhaps someone will go away with a seed planted that will change our belief and change our life. The Holy Spirit is the 'illuminator'. God bless |

25 | Can mankind change God's plan? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 90131
Hi MIke, I know I am jumping in the middle of a discussion but one observation I would like to share Consider the term "Master Plan". Ezekiel 33. God is using the comparison of His prophet to that of a watchman, and clearly indicates the watchman may or may not do what he should do and states the consequences. The reality of man's free will can be found in the 'consequences' of the Word. If there were no choice, there could be no consequences.. ...God has a plan for mankind. He has a plan for each of us. He is not surprised when we disobey and neither does it disrupt His plan. Why? Because His plan is formed from perfect WISDOM. He knows, He knew, and He has 'written' the end down for us. But if I refuse to witness to someone and they do not ever receive the Lord, their blood is on my hands. I am responsible for seeking out God's will and following that plan as He directs... Any observations? God bless |

26 | To learn the truth | OT general | gracefull | 72532
Genesis 21:10 Galatians 4:30 Cast out the bond woman and her son (Ishmael) and if you read on you will find the prophesy of God upon Ishmael. I believe that because of the alienation between the two one can see an alienation between the descendants of Ishmael against the seed of Issac, thus setting them (generally speaking) against God. They may be attempting to worship the same God but in their own way as opposed to God's way. By not humbling themselves to acknowledge Issac as the rightful heir. |

27 | Which is more important:Knowledge/action | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74879
Circumstances are merely opportunities to apply God's word of truth. James chapter 2 Faith without works is dead.. If we have nothing to apply faith to, no challenge, we do not need faith. The word must be mixed with faith to produce anything so one would be led to believe that the Word is supposed to produce something. Hebrews 4:1-3 Hebrews 4:11-14 The word is quick...discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Summary. The Word of God is spiritual truth sent to 'do' something. Unless it is mixed with faith and acted upon, it is just words on a page. There are bible professors, I dare say, who do not know anything about the power of God because they study the word but are not doers of the Word. The Word is sent to change us, enable us, empower us to be victorious representatives and mirror images of Christ to the world. The purpose of the Word is to show the world (through applying it to circumstances) the love of God. |

28 | I need verses on why we need God's Word. | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74950
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the devils with His word, and healed all that were sick: Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. God's words are Powerful- to pull down stongholds and bring deliverance. Enlightening-Bring spiritual light to drive out darkness Eternal-whereas everything in this earth is temperal. Superior- God's words should be our words because they are the only words worth speaking. God bless |

29 | salvation and Cath Church | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 81318
Stephanie, I agree with Ed. The very foundation of our faith began with the revealed truth of the Word by the Holy Spirit..He is the one who convicted us of sin and revealed to our heart the saviour Jesus Christ.(John 6:44)Our very birth into the kingdom of God is due to the revelation and work of the Holy Spirit in response to faith mixed with the hearing of the Word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God. I am reminded of Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it. If the house you desire to see built is the transformation from yourself to the image of Christ.. God must build the house. Theological education is of some value, studying other books is of some value by offering us various options of interpretation which can open our minds to posibilities we may not have been able to even entertain...BUT there is only one Truth of scripture. We do not want to fall into this catefory.. 2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the Truth. (I capitalize Truth because I see the revealed mind of God as diety..Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life) The Holy Spirit revealed truth changes us from within, transforms us into the Christ like person we are predestined to be. 2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God.... Thus the Bible must be final authority and the Holy Spirit your PRIMARY teacher! John 16:13 ...He (Spirit of Truth)has come, He will lead and guide you into all Truth... I suggest you seek to develop a deep and sincere personal relationship with the Holy Spirit so when you read or hear various teachings, you will be sensitive to the Voice of the Holy Spirit either affirming or rejecting the teachings. He has been sent to be each believers personal guide through life, God WITH us and IN us. God bless |

30 | Searching for the truth | Genesis | gracefull | 91540
I do not believe so. The Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the trinity. We are spirit beings created in the image of God (Genesis) who is Spirit. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The new birth takes place when the Holy Spirit regenerates or makes alive our dead spirit (seperated from God/ reunited with God equals death and life) Also, when reading the following scriptures in context notice two things. 1. Phillip has preached the gospel and these were saved and baptized BEFORE Peter and John laid hands on them to receive the Holy Spirit infilling. 2. There was odviously some extraordinary orrurance when these believers received the Holy Spirit because Simon wanted to BUY the ability to lay hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit. Notice he did not want to buy the Holy Spirit himself. I say this based on his background. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. Some points to pray about in your prayer/study time. God bless |

32 | Luke 23:43 / 16:23 3 days did jesus go | Gen 1:1 | gracefull | 95382
The commonly accepted interpretation of Luke 23:42-43 is that Jesus descended into Abraham's Bosom" (see Luke 16:22-24). However this is questionable because all translations of the word 'Paradise' in the New Covenant depict Paradise as meaning Heaven.See 2 Cor.12:1-4, and Rev. 2:7. Secondly, Luke was very aware of Abraham's Bosom through Jesus' teaching, but nowhere in Jesus' teaching did He refer to this place as Paradise. Thirdly, Ephesians 4:8-10 which is commonly used to prove that Paradise was Abraham's bosom in that Jesus 'led captivity captive' bringing forth the captive righteous dead at His resurrection. While I agree scripture teaches that there was a resurrection, I believe this verse states this. In Psalm 68:18 the Psalmist uses this term to state that the captivity was taken captive.. Jesus captors were taken captive.. In context, this verse depicts a battle in which Jesus the Christ won and rewarded or gave gifts to men. This is what a victorious leader would do distributing the 'spoil' among the people. Who was Jesus' captors led captive by Him victorously? Jesus' foes were (Col 2:15 and 2 Peter 2:4) the devl, death, the curse, and sin. Now no doubt Satan has not been 'bound' but is stil free t roam and deceive, but he no longer holds captive all mankind under the curse..only those who have not accepted Jesus' deliverance from his kingdom. But as soon as a man chooses to accept Jesus as saviour and Lord, Satan has no authority to restrain them. Col 1:12-14 So where would Jesus Have been? Acts 2:22-28 Research the word Hell and Hades in the New Covenant. Compare the use of these words in context. You will not find them used anywhere in reference to Abraham's Bosom or the holding place of the righteous dead. Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. According to Strong's concordance, the word 'hell' in all three verses is the same. Notice in Luke 16 hell is diferentiated from Abraham's bosom? But search it for yourself. The truth is available to all of us through the teaching and revelation of the Holy Spirit. Als, I reccomend a word search. Just tye in Jesus in hell and you wil receive a wealth of postings. Also, go into Yahoo and type these words in the word search. You will find many sites where this is discussed. However, the final answer from the Holy Spirit will be the only true and correct one. And when you receive it from Him, no debates from either side will matter. You wil know the TRUTH for yourself. God bless |

33 | MAN IN DOMINION AGAIN THRU JESUS CHRIST | Gen 1:26 | gracefull | 81127
To me scripture indicates that God chose to delegate authority to Adam over the 'whole earth' and stated the conditions...do not eat...if you do you will die. Adam ate and died spiritually, thus coming into bondage to 'the fear of death'. Hebrews 2:14-15 Thus the conditions of the first covenant with man was broken producing the curse. Hebrews teaches us that the second Adam (Jesus Christ) fulfilled the conditions of the New covenant thus making it available to whosoever will accept Him. Hebrews 8:10 It is the responsibility of each believer to seek to know the conditions of the New Covenant through the guidance of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:28-29 It is God's predetermined will that we be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ thus demonstrating or revealing to the lost world what is the will of God. As we study and the Holy Spirit reveals truth to our heart, and we become 'doers of the Word and not hearers only deceiving our own selves we are transformed into the image and likeness of Jesus. When the world sees us, they should see Jesus. In Matthew 8 Jesus the Messiah demonstrated His authority over sickness and desease, nature, and demonic possession. Ephesians 1:15-23 In my prayers I keep asking the God of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the glorious Father, to gie you a spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you will have full knowledge of Him. I pray that He will give light to the eyes f your hearts, so that you will understand the hope to which He has called you, what rich glories there are in the inheritance He has promised His people, and how surpassingly great is His power (dunamos-miracle working) working in us who trust Him. It works with the same mighty strength He used when He worked in the Messiah to raise Him from the dead and seat Him at His right hand in heaven, far above every ruler, authority, power dominion or any other name that can be named either in this world or in the world to come. Also, He has put all things under His feet and made Him head over everyting for the Messianic Community, which is His body, the FULL EXPRESSION of Him who fills all creation. Mark 16 Also see Matthew 12 because it is the Holy Spirit within that does the work. He reveals, He teaches, He empowers as we submit and obey God's WORD. Jesus the Christ came as a man to redeem us from the curse man has been under since Adam. He demonstrated while He was on the earth the will of God and spoke often of the kingdom of God to come. This kingdom which is a spiritual kingdom is present and all who are born again are in this kingdom. Christ is the head having been given all authority by the Father. We are His subjects with the authority to use His NAME (His authority) to do the work He did. He said 'the works I do, greater works shall you do because I go to my Father'. In this He is saying that because He fulfills the requirements of the New Covenant by sheding His sinless blood and therefore being raised from the dead (firstborn of many brethren) the Father will send the Holy Spirit to continue the work. But what some seem to miss is that the Holy Spirit will only do through us what we allow. By FAITH we listen and obey God's Word, then the Holy Spirit can do the work. Again see Mark 16 These signs shall follow them that 'believe'. God bless God bless |

God said He would never destroy it again with a flood. God bless |

35 | Early arrival | Gen 19:1 | gracefull | 88802
God is merciful and goes to great lengths to give people the opportunity to repent. I believe they arrived early to give Sodom the opportunity to 1. repent or 2. Reject This also gave Lot the opportunity to choose..after all, he had remained in Sodom despite their great wickedness... Romans 2: 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? |

He whom the son sets free is free indeed...but we must learn to walk in that liberty and recognize the s working in our lives by a renewed mind to God's word. Often as new believers we still walk in the old 'training' and by doing this, the old 'results' follow. Many wonder why am I still so defeated? As one grows in their relationship with God through the Holy Spirit and the word, these 'curses' are recognized and the liberty is revealed and we walk free. Romans 12:2 |

Hello journey_me, Romans Chapter 1 Leviticus 20:18 These are a good start. If you will go to word search you can find more input than you need. It is my understanding that the Episcapal organization voted some 20 years or so ago to no longer base their doctrine on scripture alone but to base it on reasoning as well. When scripture is no longer the final authority in our doctrine...it's down hill from there. This is only a portion of the organization. As with any organization, they do not all agree with this decision. God bless |

40 | Did Uzzah has given chance to repent | Num 4:15 | gracefull | 93715
Good morning, My answer wil not show the sympathy you seek. God is just to destroy the entire world. The same is true today that was true then, God had given His instructions and they were not respected and that which was holy was treated lightly. Though this is hard for our Wester culture thinking..Consider this old addage that was and is stil true..'Ignorance of the law is no excuse'. The death of Uzzah reminded David and all of Israel that God and His Word was not to be treated lightly. Why was Uzzah not given the oportunity to repent? The answer is found in the commandment God gave concerning the Ark. The same was true of any High priest who entered the Holy of Holies unclean.(Reread the Curtman's response) Leviticus 10:9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: 10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; 11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses. You seem to think that when Uzzah touched the Ark God decided at that moment to kill him. Not so.. death was pronounced in God's Word long before he touched the Ark. God is faithful and just. Every condition of His covenant has been given to all of us, but if we choose to take His Word lightly the judgement is also pronounced before hand. God's Word is absolute! He does not compromise His Word for anyone, be that His promises or His judgements. It IS our obligation to find out what His promises and His conditions are. If we do not know, it CAN hurt us becasue He has commanded us to search His Word and has given us His Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us into al truth...we are without excuse. Does this message remind us to take our prayer time and Word time more seriously? God bless |
