21 | Please define "infilling" | Acts | gracefull | 92455
"Thank you for your input, but I am afraid e-mail is out of the question. I am married and am very careful about my affiliations with women in any setting. On an open forum like this it is ok. But thanks anyway. You can click on my moniker to see my testimony." I apologize. I made the assumption you were female. Want to post a profile? That helps. God bless |

22 | Please define "infilling" | Acts | gracefull | 92436
Hi 4given, Thank you for your response.. You said... "Is "infilling" the same as "indwelling"? I believe that when you are born again, the Holy Spirit regenerates you into a new creation and resides within you, (2 Cor 5:17). I do not believe in the "installment plan" like some do (maybe you, too?) that teaches one can be born again but not indwelt by God's Spirit." I believe indwelling defines the new birth regeneration. 1 Corinthians 3:16 I believe the 'infilling' is when one yields themselves to the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit as on Pentecost. Installment? No, we decide....He does not impose Himself, as you stated, we can quinch the Spirit. But the initial regeneration one is not automatically 'filled'. Below are two instances where scripture clearly indicates that the 'infilling' can be at teh time of regeneration OR later..thus this manifestation of the Holy Spirit IS a distinct dispensation that must be received by faith. Acts 10:43-48 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. These were saved and filled before water baptism. Acts 8:12-17 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. These had received the Word, so they were saved but had not yet received the Holy Spirit. Note verse 16 These had been baptized in the name of Jesus..and then the Holy Spirit fell upon them. Although these verses do not mention speaking in tongues, Simon's response indicates something was visible and astounding enough for him to want to buy the ability... The Holy Spirit comes in fullness when we believe, ask and receive by faith..and speaking in tongues is the manifestation of His fullness. You said... "2. Can you please tell me scripture for your questions?" My questions were for your testimony..You seemed to indicate that you were filled with the Holy Spirit while asleep...Or else you were filled prior to experience? It sounds like you were taught in such a way that this was a seamless transition for you. For many this would not be the case. Many are taught that this is not truth, many are taught one must somehow work their way to that point..I was taught about this infilling after becoming an adult, haveing been born again as a child...But the scriptures do seem to indicate that it is an 'event'distinct from the regeneration. 23 | Denominations is shameful? | 1 Cor 3:4 | gracefull | 92344
Joyce, I offshoots or splinters organizationally of the original church, but not the Catholic church. (1 Corinthians 3)People actually do often answer scriptural questions with the response, "I am a _____". Believers often accept their denominational doctrines over scripture. This is following men rather than God. One should never get 'locked in' to a denomination in such a way that they cease to hear the Holy Spirit because they choose their denomination over truth. Now having said that I must point out that all born again believers are in the 'body of Christ' which is the spiritual church. When we begin to mature and depend less and less on the teachings of men and depend more and more on the teaching of scripture by the Holy Spirit, we will see denominational barriers less and less and see the body as one more and more..and often this leads believers to seek out other groups which believe more in line with what they believe. As for your husband's protest..be cautious that you remain meek and submissive. Let the love of God RULE. Be sure this does not become an avenue for the devil to cause division in your home. There are worse things than being in a church you disagree with. I suggest you encourage your husband to keep the spiritual communication lines open in your home and also pray for your marriage to grow in unity of spirit. This is God's will for the marriage. I suggest Colossians chapter 1 as an excellent prayer for the husband (or a wife). God bless |

24 | Sleep speaking in tongues? | Acts | gracefull | 92207
I have done this a couple of times. The first time was when I was first filled with the Spirit. I prayed all night in tongues in my sleep. The second time was when I was going through a difficult time and was seeking the Lord diligently. I believe in both instances the Holy Spirit was interceeding for me, and encouraging me. Ken is correct, God will not give you a stone for bread. God's children whose hearts are pure toward God will not be deceived. God bless |

25 | marriage, divorce and remarriage 2nd. | 1 Cor 7:15 | gracefull | 91682
Hi Jackson, I have two observations for your comment, if you care to. 1st you said," Why do I think the "thou" is the divorced person, look at the rest of the vs, it talks about a virgin marrying. We all know that it's not a sin for a "First" time marriage" My question is that when you look at the last part of that vers it says that if you marry you will have difficulty in the flesh. My take on this concluding statement is that to 'remain unmarried' is to remain 'inactive'. While that could apply to a divorced man, it would more likely apply to a 'virgin male'. Which would take this thou back up to verse 7a 7 "Yet I wish that all men were (5) even as I myself am." Paul said this refering to the fact that he was a eunich. That would mean this verse (28) is simply saying marriage itself is not a sin. The reason this makes sense is that why would ANYONE question the marriage of a virgin as possibly being sin? 1 Corinthians 7:28 But if you do marry, you do not sin [in doing so], and if a virgin marries, she does not sin [in doing so]. Yet those who marry will have physical and earthly troubles, and I would like to spare you that. My second point is that the thou may actually be going back to verse 24 which states, "Brethren, each one is to remain with God in that condition in which he was called." To paraphrase a possibility...Each one should remain with God in the condition he is called, however, if one does marry, they have not sinned. God bless |

26 | know Him? | Matt 5:14 | gracefull | 91599
Good afternoon angel, 1.Many do not recognize that they CAN know Him, 2. and others are affraid because they do not clearly understand the grace of God and the relationship they have come into. 3. Some avoid the light because of sin they are not willing to release. At the mount the Israelites drew back from the presence of God and begged Moses to go in for them...they were affraid. Relationship is coming into the light. That has been my observation. God bless |

27 | blasphemy against the holy spirit.... | Matt 12:24 | gracefull | 91597
The key begins in verse 24. Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not recognizing Him as the Spirit of God, rejecting Him who is the one who draws us to Christ. If we reject the Holy Spirit calling Him evil as the Pharasees did, we can't come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. God bless |

28 | Searching for the truth | Genesis | gracefull | 91540
I do not believe so. The Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the trinity. We are spirit beings created in the image of God (Genesis) who is Spirit. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The new birth takes place when the Holy Spirit regenerates or makes alive our dead spirit (seperated from God/ reunited with God equals death and life) Also, when reading the following scriptures in context notice two things. 1. Phillip has preached the gospel and these were saved and baptized BEFORE Peter and John laid hands on them to receive the Holy Spirit infilling. 2. There was odviously some extraordinary orrurance when these believers received the Holy Spirit because Simon wanted to BUY the ability to lay hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit. Notice he did not want to buy the Holy Spirit himself. I say this based on his background. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. Some points to pray about in your prayer/study time. God bless |

29 | Where does it tell us not to sin? | Rom 12:1 | gracefull | 91353
1 Corinthians 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 5:16-17 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. These are the ones in the New Covenant that use the phrase sin not from the King James version. God bless |

31 | surrender | 2 Cor 1:1 | gracefull | 90623
Hello Kahari, You have asked probably one of the most important questions a believer should ask. How do I become more like Christ daily... Let me begin by reminding you that you ARE a new creation in Christ Jesus. Your spirit is now reunited in relationship with God your Father through Jesus blood. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. But you have also realized that despite this great truth, you are daily not living like a NEW CREATURE, but still like the OLD. Romans 7:18-19 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my (9) flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. Suggested reading Romans 6-8 Romans 6:13 gives the 'exercise' to overcome sin in our life. I use the word exercise because it is just that, and must be done with diligence. At first it may seem like all you do is struggle against old habbits and thoughts, but just like exercise, eventually these things weaken and you become stronger. Romans 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Our pastor gave a simple illustration of this just a few weeks ago. He moved to the left side of the pulpit and said that over here I was in sin, bound and doomed. God by His Spirit transported me supernaturally to His kingdom. Then after moving to the other side of the pulpit he pointed out that we now have a new mastor, a new Lord. This new Lord is here to give us direction, empower us, and discipline us. When the devil or your flesh yells at you, 'yield' to the right thing... The way to live day by day more like Jesus? Yield your members to righteousness. As His Word comes alive to you by the Holy Spirit, you will understand more and more what that looks like. Our carnal mind before renewal does not understand God's ways. But as the Holy Spirit opens our understanding revealing the heart of the Father more and more, we see how to yield. As we yield by faith, a marvelous thing happens...our heart changes. Forgiveness stops being a superficial act and becomes the forgiveness of the heart.Love goes from being just a selfish word to a selfless unconditional love of God. Suggested reading: Ephesians 1 Colossians 1 Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Hope this helps. Any questions? God bless |

32 | Having yet not knowing one has | Romans | gracefull | 90270
Hi George, You said,"I address this question only to those who are aware of and have experienced the utterance of toungs." I have and here is my response. Acts 2:1-4 1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Acts 10:44-47 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. 45 All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, 47 "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?" No, just as when one Received the new birth by faith, so must one receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit as on the day of Pentecost. If you wish to continue the discussion, let me know. God bless |

33 | Can mankind change God's plan? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 90131
Hi MIke, I know I am jumping in the middle of a discussion but one observation I would like to share Consider the term "Master Plan". Ezekiel 33. God is using the comparison of His prophet to that of a watchman, and clearly indicates the watchman may or may not do what he should do and states the consequences. The reality of man's free will can be found in the 'consequences' of the Word. If there were no choice, there could be no consequences.. ...God has a plan for mankind. He has a plan for each of us. He is not surprised when we disobey and neither does it disrupt His plan. Why? Because His plan is formed from perfect WISDOM. He knows, He knew, and He has 'written' the end down for us. But if I refuse to witness to someone and they do not ever receive the Lord, their blood is on my hands. I am responsible for seeking out God's will and following that plan as He directs... Any observations? God bless |

37 | Searching for the truth | 1 Thess 4:17 | gracefull | 89868
Hi Robert, I have been reading through this thread and find that the answers seem incomplete..for instance mommapbs said, "In some matters, God keeps secrets from us (Dt 29:29). How He will accomplish this is yet to be seen. It is here where faith takes over, FytRobert." I agree that He does not always disclose the exact path of prophetic fulfillment, but in the case of Enoch and Elizah there would have had to be a 'loophole' of some sort in the curse that came upon Adam and all mankind. The curse came upon all men. The priest were offering sacrifices for the people which still did not make them righteous...fytRobert has a valid question...how did Enoch and Elizah escape death? NOT just physical death but they were 'taken up' opposed to descending into Hell (the holding compartment) like everyone else? Romans 5:14-17 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) This may be a mystery... God bless |

38 | should you have extra marital affairs? | Rom 13:9 | gracefull | 89771
Hell needhelp, I would like to take a little different approach to our question, but only to take the subject of unfaithfulness a little further. You see, God is faithful and He hates covenant breakers becuae it is in direct contrast to His character. Below in Mark is an example of God's heart in the matter of unfaithfulenss and He categorizes spiritual unfaithfulness as adultery as well as the physical act. Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed [here and now] of Me and My words in this adulterous (unfaithful) and [preeminently] sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when He comes in the glory (splendor and majesty) of His Father with the holy angels. Do you see how God views adultery from these verses? If we are children of God indeavoring to grow up in the likeness of our Father, which we are commanded to do, then we must strive to become faithful to our words. What we SPEAK we are committed to, or in covenant with..So why do we not commit adultery? 1. Our Father hates it, and 2. It is required of a steward, one entrusted to the work of the Father, that he be found faithful..the more faithful we are to our covenants, our words, the more God can use us in His kingdom. God bless |

Hello Tic 24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. 25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. 26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Solomon knew the true mother would not allow her child to die. She would lte him go before she would let him die.A mother's love for her child is a sacrificial love. God bless |
