2 | Providing with Life Assurance-Biblical? | Bible general Archive 2 | gracefull | 94636
Hi Harry...Read Numbers 27 and see if that helps. Number's 27 addresses the process for which the inheritance of a deceased man should be distributed. These verses indicate that a man should leave an inheritance for his family. This inheritance is HIS accumilated wealth. Life insurance was not available back then but men gathered for their children. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. Notice the verse does not say IF he has an inheritance..men were expected to have an inheritance. God bless |

3 | Should we lift our hands in praise and | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 70351
I believe this is a matter between the believer and the Holy Spirit. And I do believe the Holy Spirit not only approves lifting of hands but unctions believers to do so. It should not be a 'custom' or a 'doctrine' but a personal matter of worship, praise, and prayer between the believer and their God.
4 | How do I pray for myself? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71703
I recently received (and ordered one for all my children) a small booklet that might be a good place to start. It is titled "For The Family" by Sylvia Gunter. The web site to order this and other study guides is: www.thefathersbusiness.com Some of the table of contents reads Praying for the family Steps to powerful prayer Love check-up Clean hands, pure heart inventory Warfare prayer Bondage breaking prayer Praying for husband Praying for wife Praying for children What I like and the reason I recomend it is that it is not 'form'prayers, but addresses praying scripturally therefore in God's will, and addresses hinderances to prayer. When we pray God's word, we are praying in agreement with His will so we can pray confidently (in faith). This is a mini-booklet for a more extensive study guide also available on the site. God bless |

5 | is the holy spirit here during the tribu | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72530
2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 seems to be saying that He will not. And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming. If the 'lawless one' is the anitchrist, he is being restrained, and will not be released until the Holy Spirit (along with the church) is removed. Then Jesus will return and destroy him. Can we even begin to imagine a world without the Holy Spirit and believers? I thank God for His mercy.... |

6 | Was sin the reason for the man sickness? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72953
In considering Matthew 9:4-6 Matthew Henry's commentary states.. 3. A good reason for that encouragement; Thy sins are firgiven thee. Now this may be considered,1. as an introduction to the cure of his bodily distemper; " Thy sins are pardoned andtherefore thou shalt be healed." Note. As sin is the cause of sickness, so the remission of sin is the comfort of recovery from sickness"; not but that sin may be pardoned, and yet the sickness removed; not but that the sickness may be removed, and yet the sin not be pardoned: but if we have the comfort of our reconciliation to God, with the comfort of our recovery from sickness, this makes it a mercy indeed to us as to Hezekiah, Isa. 38:17 |

7 | To whom do we belong? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73364
Phillipians 3:9-15 Romans 3:22 Romans 4:11 Romans 9:30 Romans 10:6 Salvation is once...Jesus paid the price once and for all...sanctification is continuous. When we recognze we are righteous by faith not works, then we can progress forward to the realization that righteousness which is by faith is the liberating factor of grace. The process of sanctification is the process of transformation done by the the Holy Spirit and the word working in our lives. When one accepts the righteousness by faith one can begin the process of sanctification without fear, but instead with a heart of love and thankfulness. As long as we fear losing our salvation we will be sin conscious, but when we refocus on growing to His likeness leaving the past behind, and moving forward we become God in us conscious...relationship conscious. Repentance is not attempting to recrucify Christ, but should be a continual walking forward IN Christ. Romans 8:15 We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, Abba, Father. God bless |

8 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73723
Genesis 18:21 My understanding is God sent His angels to test Sodom to see if there was any chance of redemption. By sending them He gave them one last opportunity to turn, and instead they pressed forward with their perversion. Please note and consider also that God said "shall I hide this thing from my servant Abraham...for I have chosen him, so he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him. Genesis 18:17-19 God had entered a covenant with Abraham and this was a test of that covenant. God agreed not to kill the righteous with the wicked. There is much more to this than meets the eye. God bless |

9 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73840
God is Spirit, and the Holy Spirit which is one with the Father is moving throughout the earth convicting sinners. John 4:23-24 John 16:8 And when He is come, He will reporve the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement. How does God, by the Holy Spirit (which is the Spirit of God) convict sinners if He cannot go where they are? God is everywhere because the instant a sinner turns and repents, even in the 'red house'or bar, God by His Spirit will instantly save. One viewing the perfect unity of the trinity does not necessarily make a distinction. God bless |

10 | Confirming His Voice? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73841
Is there specific scripture against what you heard? Do you know in your heart that is is wrong? God does not always make 'sense' to us but what He will direct you to do will in no wise go crosswise with scripture. Learning His voice or learning to follow the guidence of the Holy Spirit takes time, and practice. Do not be affraid and it is okey to ask God to give you assurance as long as your heart is to do His will. He understands we are children. Purhaps a word study of 'obey' might help. Does this help? |

1 John 1 Yes ianjon..Satan would have us believe he is all powerfull. We as believers have been given authority over him through Jesus Christ who has all authority given to him by the Father. But he is a cunning liar and we must learn to recognize him. The way to do that is to better know God. The better our relationship with Him is and the better we know Him, the more odvious Satan and his lying demons become! When we walk in the light of the truth of the Holy Spirit, the devil is revealed! God bless |

14 | Internet to replace church? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74847
Russ, please forgive me if this interjection is inappropriate. I found in my life that when I become (relapse into) selfish having myself in mind and not others, it is easy for me to look to my comfort. ( Too tired for church, other things to do, ect. ) What drives me to go to church is the reality that as I matured in the Lord and realized He wanted me to be a vessel for service. This is in no way vanity. It is the sacrificial giving of yourself as a vessel of service for others. You are placed in that body for a reason and when you are not there, there is a void. When you read Corinthians about gifts, Paul says that each of us is called to in some way edify the body. When I was a child I thought the ultimate joy was receiving. When I grew up I discovered the ultimate JOY is giving! Go back walking through the door praying "God I am here to serve. Use me!" One more thing. I heard a sermon once and the pastor said to unclinch your hand and give God what he is asking for, and leave your hand open for His blessing in return. When we give because we love, we receive because HE loves. God bless |

15 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74853
The term 'spiritual bondage' is not in scripture. The closest thing I can find is Romans 8:14-16 For you have not received the spirit of fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Spritual bondage is when our spirit is bound or unable to advance in God's will. There can be physical or mental symptoms of that bondage. The reason I say symptoms is because Jesus has set us free from any bondage we can experience. The problem is, we are either unaware of that liberty or unwilling to walk in it. For the born again believer I believe spiritual bondage can be traced back to our beliefs. The Word says that He whom the son sets free is free indeed. The believer has been set free. But if unbelief due to a lack of knowledge of God's word is present, bondage can remain due to lack of knowledge. Hosea 5:7 An illustration can be my cat. We obtained a kitten at 4 weeks old. That kitten was never allowed out of the house. After she grew up (about 3 years old) we bought a house and she started sitting at the door looking out so we decided to let her out. When we first opened the door, she refused to go out. Why? She still BELIEVED she was bound. Our enemy Satan lies to us and tells us we are bound when in reality we are not. Remember, you are spirit, you have a sou, and you live in a body. Your born again spirit is SUPERIOR to your soul or your flesh, but it must be develeoped in truth, and you must choose to allow your spirit to lead by bringing your body, your mind and your emotions into submission to God's word of truth. God Bless |

16 | What exactly must a person to be saved? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 79420
Dear MPierce, "There is nothing worse than someone calling you a non-christian when you thought you were." Actually, there is something worse..to stand before God in the judgement and find out you were not. Matthew 7:22-24 Matthew 25:40-42 But the good news is that God is not hiding the truth of the new birth behind a veil of mystery. Christians should not be affraid or feel threatened by the question "How do you KNOW you are saved?" Or "If you died today and stood before the Lord and He asked,'Why should I let you into heaven' what would be your answer?" Do a word search on salvation and study the various scripture references, and do so prayerfully because the Holy Spirit will bear witness with your spirit if you are a son. Romans 8:15-17 I will tell you this...there is a strong chance that children brought up in any denomination by being taught or even simply deceived by the enemy to believe that they are saved because they practice their religion diligently. God bless |

18 | Are injury lawsuits okay with God? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 81638
jeannie K Are you and your husband currently attending a church? You both need to seek counseling from your pastor. That said..I would like to make a few brief statements. 1. I do aggree and strongly believe in accountability. When we have been robbed, God commanded repayment. 2. In our country where insurance usually pays, there is 'limited accountabilty' because the person does not do most of the repaying, the consumers who carry insurance do. 3. Your question, "My question is it okay to bring a lawsuit against the cab company and the individual that hit the cab?" Why would you sue the cab company if they are not at fault? Lok to the heart... 4. "I guess I feel guilty that maybe it looks like an answer to our past debt so we can pay our debts and move. And maybe it is in a way but still I am not making up the pain and strain. I've ask God that I would like to move but I want to leave owing no one. Then this all happened; I am very confused!!!" Two words jump out here...ANSWER and CONFUSED Confusion comes when our beliefs war with each other. You asked God to provide funds for a clean move 'and now this happened' sems to imply that you do not believe God caused this accident to provide funds, but on the other hand..maybe He did...confusion of beliefs. there are 3 possibilities: 1. God did it to provide through a lawsuit. 2. The enemy did it to prevent you and to cause you to look somewhere other than God for your provision...Read Mark 4..the sower sows the Word, and the thief comes to steal the Word sown. 3. This is just a quirk of fate and you need to work it out as best you can then move on to what God has called you to do. I have a strong problem with this because God does not expect us to carry out His will in our strength and ability, nor do I believe anything happens by happenstance. I hope I have given you and your husband food for thought. In situations like this we are challenged to WORK our faith in God's WORD and watch God move. I suggest you focus on the promises of God as your provider and put your faith in His Word. God bless |

19 | Should Christians Pooh-Pooh Proof? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 81878
"and dismisses as superfluous and immaterial the need to "prove all things; hold fast that which is good [1 Thess.5:21]" Test all things? What TESTS prove the resurrection? The scriptures verified by the Holy Spirit. We have verified authentic documents...but the documents reality does not prove the words written in the documents... From the heart to all on this forum: I have been reading through this thread and found, as with so many, that the basis of the debate is avoided while the superficial is debated. Let me explain.... Scripture says that by faith are we saved... Who here is a historian and has handled the 'historical artifacts'? Who here has placed their hands in the nail pierced hand of Jesus Christ? Who here has seen or read a report concluding DNA testing positive the nails that pierced our Lord? Though we may read the historical data and even see it for ourselves, except we BELIEVE with our hearts Jesus is the Christ, raised from the dead and seated on the right hand of the Father as scripture SAYS...we are still dead in our sins. Historical proof can be argued as we all know. Many 'great minds' argue it today. Belief in Christ Jesus that produces the New birth is the heart belief that He is what God's Word says He is. History rejects anything that requires 'faith' and belief in the resurrection requires faith, faith in the documents that state it is true, verified by the Holy Spirit within. Christians know, and knew long before historical data was found. It only verifies what we already know from the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. No doubt a few have come to accept Christ from historical research, but most came simply through the preaching of the gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit... We can witness of the historical facts of Jesus, but I believe the lost are looking for a living saviour who can set them free from the bondage of sin and fear. For this we must have the ANNOINTING, not history. God bless |

20 | What is the "Force of Faith"? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 82156
Substance according to Strong's that which has foundation, is firm that which has actual existence a substance, real being the substantial quality, nature, of a person or thing the steadfastness of mind, firmness, courage, resolution confidence, firm trust, assurance According to Strong's Hebrews 11:1 the Greek word is translated substance and means 'nature'. And above it is broken out as 'a substance, real being the substantial quality, nature, of a person or thing ' The other uses of this word are translated 'confidence'according to Strong's. (go to Study tools, click on Lexicon and type in keyword 'substance'or 5287) Interesting contrast to the above posted definition of substance. It would appear there is room for deeper understanding based on the fact that even Strong's recognizes a difference in this translated word 'faith' and the others. Each of us must listen to the Holy Spirit for clear revelation of truth. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. By faith God spoke the worlds into existence. God bless |
