201 | garden sin what happened | Genesis | skccab | 195821
Shalom EL# The sin was several-fold: 1 - Gen. 1:16-17 God told Adam that he could eat of every tree in the Garden including the Tree of Life but not from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We must assume that Adam told this to Eve, 2 - but Eve choose to add to the commandment as well. Sin here was disobedience - Eve took of the fruit of the tree. 3 - Gen. 3:4-5 Satan brings doubt to the truth of God's word. Sin here is unbelief. Eve had stated they would die if they even touched the fruit of the tree. She had to touch it to eat and she didn't die, so she ate. She didn't die then either (or so she thought) so she gave to her husband. Well, that's an ABC of it. Others here on the forum will surely give you other details. But this is a start. :-) Cheri |

202 | What do we learn from praying | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195801
Amen sister Azure, Isn't it amazing? To speak with a country's president or king or queen we must make an appointment and then they will continuously look at their watches as we talk - BUT we have access to the very throne of the King of the Universe 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and He rejoices in the time we spend with Him!! in awe and amazement Cheri |

203 | Everlasting Annointing Oil?? | 1 Kings | skccab | 195753
Shalom Virtue, Are you thinking of Elijah and the widow who had just enough flour and oil for her and her son to eat one more time? Elijah told her to fix him some bread and to fix bread for herself and son and the oil and flour remained plentiful till the Lord sent rain. You can find this story in 1 Kings 17. Cheri |

204 | Rev 20:10 | NT general | skccab | 195749
Good morning WannaB, It is not TORTURE the unbeliever is going to experience, it's torment. They will see when it is too late that what they have known all along deep within themselves is true and they did not accept the invitation when the Lamb said "Come." Rom. 1:18-21 says God's invisible attributes can be clearly seen by the things that are made so that all are without excuse for not accepting the truth. Shalom Cheri |

205 | Fasting? | Matt 6:16 | skccab | 195730
Shalom again,TMo Yeshua taught fasting. When His disciples could not heal the epileptic He said that kind would only go out by fasting and prayer. I don't think that has changed. What purpose does fasting serve? Isa. 58:6-11 is a beautiful picture of a fasted saint. Cheri |

207 | Anyone know where the Land of Nod is? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 195500
Hi Suzy, There is an article from 1999 (I think) at the Biblical Heritage website about Eden, Nod and Cush. It's speculative and I haven't checked to see if there actually is a follow-up (my understanding is that one was intended). But it might make for an interesting read. Here is the link http://www.biblicalheritage.org/Archaeology/eden.htm Shalom Cheri |

210 | am trying to learn about joshua | Josh 1:1 | skccab | 195263
Shalom, If you don't own a Bible at the moment, you can read Joshua right here at this site, and there are other websites that have full versions of the Bible available to read, even to download. (Though purchasing a Bible is definitely a needful thing!) The book begins with the entrance of the Children of Israel into their promised land, it covers the many battles that had to take place to claim the land as there were other inhabitants at the time, the division of the land to the 12 Tribes, and much, much more. It's a wonderful book! In types, it pictures Yeshua leading His people into their rest and their promised land. The book of Joshua is exciting and full of adventure. Enjoy your study! :-) Cheri |

212 | leaving the church | NT general | skccab | 195004
Hey Michael, Could these be the verses your friend is referring? Matt 10:11 "And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay at his house until you leave that city. Matt 10:12 "As you enter the house, give it your greeting. Matt 10:13 "If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. Matt 10:14 "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet. Mark 6:11 "Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them." Luke 9:5 "And as for those who do not receive you, as you go out from that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them." Luke 10:11 'Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near.' Only, if these are the verses being thought of, your friend has it backwards, your friend receives back his blessing that was not embraced when given. :-) Shalom Cheri |

213 | Angels looking forward to the return ? | 1 Peter | skccab | 194946
Morning Michael, I don't think that it's just the 2nd Advent the angels are interested in. They've been around the whole time watching, trying to figure it out; they have had part in many of the messages from God to man concerning man's redemption, but they apparently knew less than man did about it, for it was man that had the promises. Even today, they are still trying to figure it all out (as are we, we don't understand it - how it works, we simply believe and receive it). Yes, I believe they are probably looking to the 2nd coming as the completion of the promise of redemption. Most of that I summarized (hopefully not too poorly) from Matthew Henry's very loooong commentary on 1 Pet. 1:12 Maybe someone else will have a more concise answer for you Cheri |

215 | spiritual or religious? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 194869
Shalom Michael Yeshua - spiritual Pharisee of His day - religious. Spiritual - understanding the spirit of the command. Religious - Performing the command by the letter with the wrong motive. Mat. 23:2-7 Yeshua said to do and observe all that the Pharisees tell you but don't do like they do, and He proceeds to give a teaching on the difference between spiritual and religious. Hope this helped Cheri |

216 | ghosts? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 194774
Morning Michael There is the story of Saul going to a cave to visit a witch to call forth the spirit of Samuel in 1 Sam 28:8-20 (actually the whole chapter). Obviously doing this sort of thing is a definite and scriptural NO! And Isa. 19:3 mentions demoralizing and confounding Egypt into turning back to their idols and ghosts of the dead and mediums and spirits. Maybe some others will have more information. :-) Cheri |

218 | divorce? | Deuteronomy | skccab | 194664
Hey Michael, You have lots of questions :-) Deut. 24:1-5 talks about divorcing a wife and she remarrying and getting a divorce or being widowed, the first husband is not to re-marry her. But it says nothing about the two changing their minds before any other types of arrangements have been done. Cheri |
