121 | Ezekiel's Temple updated | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 203105
Hey Doc, Yes, we probably did, and since then I have heard many different views. But I ran across 2 verses last night that I swear weren't there the last time I read Ezekiel :-). (Of course, they just didn't register in my brain the last time I read them.) 47:22-23. Those just jumped out at me last night and I haven't been able to forget them. There are a lot of new "regulars" now so I was hoping to get a few views, maybe not different, just a few different people. And just because something has been discussed before should not exclude it from being discussed afresh. :-) I know those chapters are not describing the old Temple, but those chapters are there for a reason, and with those 2 verses now, I'm just trying to pull it together, hopefully with help. 123 | What changed? | John 7:8 | skccab | 202939
Shalom Thomas8 The "answer" is in your question. The others wanted Him to enter Jerusalem with a bang, with a "Hello, here I am!" vs.8 "...my time is not yer." vs10 "...but as it were in secret." No changes between verses. He went quietly to fulfill the command, as this was a "pilgrimage" feast, but it wasn't the season for Him to make a public entrance, so to speak. Cheri |

124 | total prosperity | Rom 10:9 | skccab | 202919
Shalom Lalah Listen to God's description of true prosperity: Lev 26:1 ‘Do not make idols for yourselves, and do not set up a carved image or a pillar for yourselves, and do not place a stone image in your land, to bow down to it. For I am Yahoveh your Elohim. Lev 26:2 ‘Guard My Sabbaths and reverence My set-apart place. I am Yahoveh. Lev 26:3 ‘If you walk in My laws and guard My commands, and shall do them, Lev 26:4 then I shall give you rain in its season, and the land shall yield its crops, and the trees of the field yield their fruit. Lev 26:5 ‘And your threshing shall last till the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last till the time of sowing. And you shall eat your bread until you have enough, and shall dwell in your land safely. Lev 26:6 ‘And I shall give peace in the land, and you shall lie down and no one make you afraid. And I shall clear the land of evil beasts, and not let the sword go through your land. Lev 26:7 ‘And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Lev 26:8 ‘And five of you shall pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you pursue ten thousand. And your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. Lev 26:9 ‘And I shall turn to you and make you bear fruit, and shall increase you, and shall establish My covenant with you. Lev 26:10 ‘And you shall eat the old supply, and clear out the old because of the new. Lev 26:11 ‘And I shall set My Dwelling Place in your midst, and My being shall not reject you. Lev 26:12 ‘And I shall walk in your midst, and shall be your Elohim, and you shall be My people. Lev 26:13 ‘I am Yahoveh, your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, from being their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright - The Scriptures (I had to substitute the Name "Yahoveh" where the Hebrew letters yud-hei-vav-hei were used in this Bible version.) There is nothing in those passages about luxuries, such as too big homes, too big cars, too many TV sets, boats, airplanes, etc. His idea of true prosperity is enough and more than enough of what is needed to live in His Shalom. Is it a sin to have those things? No, but those kinds of things are not God's idea of real prosperity. Cheri |

125 | God love the senner but hate the sin | NT general | skccab | 202767
Shalom Mr C, Welcome to the Forum. This is not going to be the answer that you want, but maybe it will be helpful to counsel your son - so here goes: 1 Cor. 6:9 says "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals 10 "nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." And further, read 1 Cor. 6:15-20 and especially verse 18 "Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body..." So the above verses agree with you, God hates the sin of homosexuality. Does God love the sinner? Absolutely!! He gave His only Son to redeem each and every sinner from the bondage of sin! Can your son remain a homosexual and still be saved? Yes and No. First let's deal with the "no". He CANNOT be saved and live an active homosexual life. But Yes he can be saved and totally sell out to God's word and live the rest of his life celibately (it's been done before!). For that matter, if your son will let Him, God can completely renew your son's mind and heart! That's been done before too!! Gal. 6:7 "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 "For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." Sorry, this wasn't exactly the answer that you wanted, but it's what the Bible says. And 1 Cor chapter 6 also says that what you join yourself to is what you become one with (that would be either a prostitute, another homosexual, or the Lord Himself - but you can't join yourself to both). I will be praying for you and your son Cheri |

127 | Satan murdered who at beginning of time | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 202602
Shalom Shenny, Welcome to the Forum! Genesis chapter 3 will tell you about how satan committed the first murder (by using deception). Through his deception, Eve took of the forbidden tree (which God said would cause her to die) and gave it to her husband, and he, too, ate; thus, death (spiritual and physical death) for all of us. Enjoy your study! Cheri |

129 | Why do you respond? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 202420
Terry, What makes you think anyone of us are negative, criticizing or ridiculing you? If you think I have treated you that way, I apologize and ask your forgiveness for that was certainly not my intention! As for the others, I've known them almost on a daily basis for over a year, and they are only loving, gracious brethren in the Lord (and I might add, extremely knowledgeable). We are only trying to figure out what you are wanting to discuss. Mass conciousness, spiritual networking.... these are not bible study topics. Since you think they are, please explain it to us, bring us up to speed :-) Cheri |

130 | How old was Joseph when he went to Egypt | OT general | skccab | 202384
Shalom Chaplain-Pastor, Welcome to the forum! The Bible tells us in Gen. 37:2 that Joseph was 17 years old. It doesn't appear that too much time passed between verse 2 and verse 28 where he was actually sold and taken away. :-) Cheri |

131 | Anything asked will be given | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 202337
Good morning Ian, Welcome to the forum. The key is praying in God's will. There are some things we pray about that we can know for sure that we are praying within God's will, i.e., the salvation of someone (Matthew 28:19-20 to state just one). In Matthew 6:10 Messiah teaches us to pray "...Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven..." Revelation 21:4 tells us that in the world to come tears will be wiped away, there will no longer be any death, nor any mourning, or crying, or pain - so these things must be His will. James 5:14-15 tells us to pray for the sick and the Lord will hear and heal - this must be His will. Our problem is that if we don't SEE the results of our prayers immediately, we think God is not answering us. We forget that God answers in His time, and His time is not our time. Now, when it comes to things like should one change careers, move to a new state, start a new business, etc....these things must be in line with God's word and the intent must line up with God's word. And the person still must remember that if and when God answers in the positive, it will still be in His time (and sometimes He may say NO, and we just refuse to hear it) So you see? When you are praying in God's will you will get an answer (just not always the one desired, and not always in our time-frame). Sorry I couldn't help more, but others much more knowledgeable, I'm sure will be happy to answer you more fully. :-) Shalom Cheri |

Shalom Mittens, Welcome to the forum!! Steve, Lionheart and Tenderheart have directed you very well. I just wanted to add one thing: You may find that those whom you have been "hanging out with" will attempt to stop you in your tracks, cause you to feel condemned, even try to convince you that God couldn't possibly forgive you for having backslid. DO NOT buy into that, not for one second!! Luke 15:11-37 is about you (and me!!) Welcome back to the family, we've missed ya!! Cheri |

134 | ten commandments are they valid today | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 202168
Shalom tenderheart, 1 - Deu 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deu 12:32 (13:1) All this word which I command you, that shall ye observe to do; thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Rev 22:18 I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto him the plagues which are written in this book: 2 - Mat 5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil. Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished. Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The Torah is alive and well in 2008!! Deu 30:8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of Jehovah, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. Deu 30:9 And Jehovah thy God will make thee plenteous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good: for Jehovah will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers; Deu 30:10 if thou shalt obey the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn unto Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul. Deu 30:11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not too hard for thee, neither is it far off. Deu 30:12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? Deu 30:13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? Deu 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. Deu 30:15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; Deu 30:16 in that I command thee this day to love Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou mayest live and multiply, and that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in the land whither thou goest in to possess it. Deu 30:17 But if thy heart turn away, and thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; Deu 30:18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish; ye shall not prolong your days in the land, whither thou passest over the Jordan to go in to possess it. Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed; Deu 30:20 to love Jehovah thy God, to obey his voice, and to cleave unto him; for he is thy life, and the length of thy days; that thou mayest dwell in the land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. I have sat and listened to a Lutheran, a Methodist, a Baptist, a Church of God, and a non-denominational pastor preach a sermon on the above passages. We christians love the promises of God but we sure do get squirmy when it comes to hearing what He expects His people to look and act like. Hope this helped :-) Cheri |

135 | therefore the lord blessed the sabbath | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 202150
Shalom tenderheart Welcome to the Forum. Don't be confused. If you can find a scripture that says "Observe My Sunday" then by all means, do so. Meanwhile, you have found a scripture (there are actually dozens) that say "Observe My Sabbath." Reading through the four Gospels, you'll find Jesus observing Shabbat/Sabbath; throughout the Book of Acts, it is the Sabbath that is observed. It was a man who chose to change it from the God-ordaind Sabbath to Sunday. Josh. 24:14-15. "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." There is great joy in obeying God's commands. Cheri |

136 | 4 questions about kings and priests | OT general | skccab | 202119
Hi again, OK, it looks like it's Jeroboam that ran the God-appointed priests off as well as attempting to burn incense himself - 2 Chron. 11:13-15 And you can read about the cities in Lev. 25:32-34, Num. 35:2-8, Josh. 21:1-4 and 41-42, 1 Chron. 6:37-60 just to get you started. Oh, and also land that others would devote to the Lord Lev. 27:21 could be theirs. Hope this has helped :-) Cheri |

137 | 4 questions about kings and priests | OT general | skccab | 202118
Shalom Cthorne, 1 - The High Priest was a direct descendant of Aaron and his sons - Exod. 27:21, 29:19-35, 40:12-16 to name a few references. The steps? Are you talking about the "inauguaration of"? Could you elaborate a bit more on that? Thanks. Now by the time of Messiah, I think they were chosen by lots - Lk 1:8-9, 23 but I'm not sure that this is the office of High Priest, but rather of Temple priests to serve for a portion of the year. 2, 3 - I'll get back to you on these :-) 4 - I think the king is question might be Jeroboam 1 Ki. 12:31, 13:33. Maybe this will get you started and I'll look further into questions 2 and 3. Cheri |

138 | what three books did Luke right | 2 Tim 3:16 | skccab | 202114
Shalom oldtestament, I've heard some people say that maybe Luke is the one who actually wrote Hebrews because of the wonderful, pristine Greek that was used (they say far above what was used in the known Pauline letters). Personally, I tend to lean toward Paul as author of Hebrews, but thought I'd share this possibility :-). Cheri |

140 | Where were the bones placed | Ezek 24:5 | skccab | 202073
Shalom Azure, Eze 24:5 Take the choice of the flock, and pile also the bones under it; make it boil well, that the bones thereof may also be seethed in the midst of it. (JPS) Eze 24:5 “Take the choice of the flock, also pile bones under it, cook it thoroughly, also let the bones cook in it.” The Scriptures Ezek. 24:5 "Put in it pieces of meat, all the best parts - the thigh, the shoulder; fill it with the choiest cuts, taken from the pick of the flock, and pile the bones underneath. Bring it to a rolling boil, till it's all cooked, even the bones." CJB Looks like you had it figured out, sister Azure, and it seems the Amplified is the closest to the three I've shared with you. It seems these 3 translations agree with you and the Amp.- the JPS (Jewish Publication Society) is the English translation of the Jews' Scriptures, The Scriptures is the whole (Old and New but I'm not sure if the translator is Jewish born or not) and CJB (Complete Jewish Bible) is the whole Bible translated by a Jewish believer in Messiah :-) (For myself, when an Old Testament verse or thought seems hard to understand I sometimes, though not always, can find it more easily understood when I check the JPS.) Hope this helped Cheri |
